The append call incorrectly omitted the preceding space. This was not an
issue previously because the extrausers.bbclass append ended with a
semi-colon.
That semi-colon was recently removed causing this incorrect append to
create a task that doesn't exist: [1].
This adds the space in the append to create the correct tasks.

There is currently a lot of complexity of setting up an image feature
which is only used to enable the fru-device feature of entity-manager.
Simplify this by using RRECOMMENDS, in entity-manager, and eliminating
the IMAGE_FEATURE.
Tested:
Ran `bitbake entity-manager -ne` and observed the following on two
affected platforms:
In witherspoon:
```
# $PACKAGECONFIG [5 operations]
# :remove[pn-entity-manager] openbmc/openbmc/meta-ibm/conf/machine/witherspoon.conf:41
# "ipmi-fru"
# set openbmc/openbmc/meta/conf/documentation.conf:321
# [doc] "This variable provides a means of enabling or disabling features of a recipe on a per-recipe basis."
# set openbmc/openbmc/meta-phosphor/recipes-phosphor/configuration/entity-manager_git.bb:14
# [_defaultval] "ipmi-fru"
# set openbmc/openbmc/meta-phosphor/recipes-phosphor/configuration/entity-manager_git.bb:15
# [ipmi-fru] "-Dfru-device=true, -Dfru-device=false, i2c-tools,"
# set openbmc/openbmc/meta-phosphor/recipes-phosphor/configuration/entity-manager_git.bb:18
# [validate-json] "-Dvalidate-json=true, -Dvalidate-json=false, ${PYTHON_PN}-jsonschema-native"
# pre-expansion value:
# "ipmi-fru"
PACKAGECONFIG=""
```
In p10bmc:
```
# $PACKAGECONFIG [7 operations]
# :append[pn-debug-trigger] openbmc/openbmc/meta-ibm/conf/machine/p10bmc.conf:72
# " triggers"
# :remove[pn-entity-manager] openbmc/openbmc/meta-ibm/conf/machine/p10bmc.conf:75
# "ipmi-fru"
# set openbmc/openbmc/meta/conf/documentation.conf:321
# [doc] "This variable provides a means of enabling or disabling features of a recipe on a per-recipe basis."
# set openbmc/openbmc/meta-phosphor/recipes-phosphor/configuration/entity-manager_git.bb:14
# [_defaultval] "ipmi-fru"
# set openbmc/openbmc/meta-phosphor/recipes-phosphor/configuration/entity-manager_git.bb:15
# [ipmi-fru] "-Dfru-device=true, -Dfru-device=false, i2c-tools,"
# set openbmc/openbmc/meta-phosphor/recipes-phosphor/configuration/entity-manager_git.bb:18
# [validate-json] "-Dvalidate-json=true, -Dvalidate-json=false, ${PYTHON_PN}-jsonschema-native"
# "curl openssl ssl-curl"
# pre-expansion value:
# "ipmi-fru"
PACKAGECONFIG=""
```
Built an image for yosemite4 and confirmed that fru-device is still
installed:
```
install_dreport_user_script function is intended
to be reused in meta-openpower layer.
To enable this, the function is being moved
to a bbclass which would be inherited in the
openpower-debug-collector recipe in the
meta-openpower layer.
dreport.conf file is a variable, hence making it
an argument to the function, so that other layer
can give a custom dreport.conf as input.
Tested:
Verified that plugin scripts are getting installed
from openpower-debug-collector repository and
BMC Dump collection is successful.
default-distrovars.inc depend on ARCH_DEFAULT_KERNELIMAGETYPE
to set KERNEL_IMAGETYPE, vendor could overwrite KERNEL_IMAGETYPE
in configuration file to change kernel target build.
since static-norootfs.inc set KERNEL_IMAGETYPE and KERNEL_IMAGETYPES
as ARCH_DEFAULT_KERNELIMAGETYPE, we overwrite both value to "Image"
since arm64 kernel doesn't support zImage target.
Add FLASH_MANIFEST_OFFSET and merge_bootloader in nuvoton npcm8xx.
Add compress kernel image when build norootfs.
SA (Stand Alone) is a special TIP_FW for mimic NO TIP feature on TIP
devices, i.e. concatenated file image_no_tip + SA FW for mimic NO TIP
For TIP device and no need TIP_FW that is using
"BootBlock_BL31_Tee_Uboot_no_tip_SA.bin" for booting up.
For real NO TIP device that is using
"BootBlock_BL31_Tee_Uboot_no_tip.bin" for booting up.
Tested:
Set TIP_IMAGE = False and SA_TIP_IMAGE = True,
TIP device and can boot up.
Set TIP_IMAGE = False and SA_TIP_IMAGE = False,
Since Linux 5.6, the entropy generation provided by rng-tools is now
in the kernel directly. Yocto has removed all dependencies on rng-tools
for packages that use to use it, such as ssh[1]. There isn't any reason
for us to explicitly include rng-tools any longer. Remove the feature
and package group that we had that included it.
Lots of machines bring the webui in via an RDEPENDS on something
like the "extras" package. The webui for most OpenBMC machines is a
standard feature (as seen in the amount of .bbappend files used to bring
it in) so lets make it an official image feature.
Do not include this new image feature by default in all OpenBMC images
as building the package is non-standard in how it builds. It directly
calls NPM to install required packages so it can not be built offline
and it complicates the software bill of materials.
Tested:
- Confirmed that system1 has webui by default with this when including
the new IMAGE_FEATURE
The 6.5 kernel moved dts files to sub-directories for many systems.
Yocto already handles this and uses `KERNEL_DTBVENDORED` as a flag to
indicate if the vendored path should be preserved or not. By default,
the non-vendored paths are use (resulting in a `basename` call to strip
off the vendor segment in many cases). Add support in the
fit-image.bbclass for the same `KERNEL_DTBVENDORED` flag as an indicator
if the truncated path should be used or not.
The OpenBMC test bump for 6.5 can be found here:
https://gerrit.openbmc.org/c/openbmc/openbmc/+/65884
Tested:
- Confirmed yosemite4 machine builds with 6.5 kernel
FLASH_SIZE was previously defaulted in a few bbclasses and bbappends,
but this can result in it not being defined in all recipes if the
machine has not overridden the FLASH_SIZE. openbmc/openbmc#3876
reported one such case where the u-boot-fw-utils recipe does not
receive the correct FLASH_SIZE and ends up erasing the wrong flash
region as if it were the u-boot enviroment. Specify it in the common
include so it is available everywhere.
Resolves openbmc/openbmc#3876.
Add sign images feature according customer's requirement.
Set "SECURED_IMAGE" to "True" and enable sign images feature.
When sign images feature be enabled. Use default keys to sign
images if customer didn't point their own local keys path.
Note: "SECURED_IMAGE" default is "True".
Tested:
Use default keys sign:
That will use default path and keys from igps to sign.
Use local keys sign:
That will use local path and keys to sign.
When KEY_FOLDER and KEY definition both are valid.
However, when KEY_FOLDER and KEY definition are invalid either,
that will output sign images failed then stop build full images.
Tested: build pass and boot up successfully with signed
It is desirable to have a single image for both manufacturing and
updates instead of the separate MTD and tarball. Define a JSON
format and populate it, based on a combination of the current MANIFEST
data and learnings from the Meta verified-boot metadata format[1,2].
This JSON file is then embedded into the image itself, so that update
tools can determine the compatibility and correctness of the image
before applying.
An example manifest JSON can be found at [3].
The previous static-image building code only confirmed that the
u-boot image was smaller than the offset for the kernel image, but
most systems place the u-boot environment after the u-boot image.
It is possible that we have a u-boot image bigger than the u-boot
partition, which is then overwritten on boot by the u-boot env.
Check for this at image build time and prevent it from happening.
The configparser library has deprecated the `readfp` function since
Python 3.2. I observed that the `log.do_generate_phosphor_manifest`
had the following warning:
```
meta-phosphor/classes/image_version.bbclass:17: DeprecationWarning: This method will be removed in Python 3.12. Use 'parser.read_file()' instead.
```
The `read_file` is an identical replacement for `readfp` and has been
present since Python 3.2.
Extract relevant functions from upstream's kernel-fitimage.bbclass
in order to be able to create a FIT image containing the rootfs
as the initramfs. This will let us generate MTD images with a single
rootfs-as-initramfs.
My intention is to ensure this is working in meta-phosphor and then
work at moving the bbclass upstream.
