2022-06-30net: rose: fix UAF bugs caused by timer handlerDuoming Zhou1-15/+19
There are UAF bugs in rose_heartbeat_expiry(), rose_timer_expiry() and rose_idletimer_expiry(). The root cause is that del_timer() could not stop the timer handler that is running and the refcount of sock is not managed properly. One of the UAF bugs is shown below: (thread 1) | (thread 2) | rose_bind | rose_connect | rose_start_heartbeat rose_release | (wait a time) case ROSE_STATE_0 | rose_destroy_socket | rose_heartbeat_expiry rose_stop_heartbeat | sock_put(sk) | ... sock_put(sk) // FREE | | bh_lock_sock(sk) // USE The sock is deallocated by sock_put() in rose_release() and then used by bh_lock_sock() in rose_heartbeat_expiry(). Although rose_destroy_socket() calls rose_stop_heartbeat(), it could not stop the timer that is running. The KASAN report triggered by POC is shown below: BUG: KASAN: use-after-free in _raw_spin_lock+0x5a/0x110 Write of size 4 at addr ffff88800ae59098 by task swapper/3/0 ... As a result, the UAF bugs could be mitigated. 2017-11-22treewide: Remove TIMER_FUNC_TYPE and TIMER_DATA_TYPE castsKees Cook1-6/+6
With all callbacks converted, and the timer callback prototype switched over, the TIMER_FUNC_TYPE cast is no longer needed, so remove it. Conversion was done with the following scripts: perl -pi -e 's|\(TIMER_FUNC_TYPE\)||g' \ $(git grep TIMER_FUNC_TYPE | cut -d: -f1 | sort -u) perl -pi -e 's|\(TIMER_DATA_TYPE\)||g' \ $(git grep TIMER_DATA_TYPE | cut -d: -f1 | sort -u) The now unused macros are also dropped from include/linux/timer.h. 2017-10-18net/core: Convert sk_timer users to use timer_setup()Kees Cook1-4/+4
In preparation for unconditionally passing the struct timer_list pointer to all timer callbacks, switch to using the new timer_setup() and from_timer() to pass the timer pointer explicitly for all users of sk_timer. 2005-08-30[TCP]: Move the tcp sock states to net/tcp_states.hArnaldo Carvalho de Melo1-1/+1
Lots of places just needs the states, not even linux/tcp.h, where this enum was, needs it. This speeds up development of the refactorings as less sources are rebuilt when things get moved from net/tcp.h. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
