The AM62x and AM64x SoCs of the TI K3 family has a Cortex M4F core in
the MCU domain. This core is typically used for safety applications in a
stand alone mode. However, some application (non safety related) may
want to use the M4F core as a generic remote processor with IPC to the
host processor. The M4F core has internal IRAM and DRAM memories and are
exposed to the system bus for code and data loading.
A remote processor driver is added to support this subsystem, including
being able to load and boot the M4F core. Loading includes to M4F
internal memories and predefined external code/data memories. The
carve outs for external contiguous memory is defined in the M4F device
node and should match with the external memory declarations in the M4F
image binary. The M4F subsystem has two resets. One reset is for the
entire subsystem i.e including the internal memories and the other, a
local reset is only for the M4F processing core. When loading the image,
the driver first releases the subsystem reset, loads the firmware image
and then releases the local reset to let the M4F processing core run.

This driver enables r5f dual core Real time Processing Unit subsystem
available on Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale MPSoC Platform. RPU subsystem
(cluster) can be configured in different modes e.g. split mode in which
two r5f cores work independent of each other and lock-step mode in which
both r5f cores execute same code clock-for-clock and notify if the
result is different.
The Xilinx r5 Remoteproc Driver boots the RPU cores via calls to the Xilinx
Platform Management Unit that handles the R5 configuration, memory access
and R5 lifecycle management. The interface to this manager is done in this
driver via zynqmp_pm_* function calls.

Renesas Gen3 platform includes a Cortex-r7 processor.
Both: the application cores (A5x) and the realtime core (CR7)
share access to the RAM and devices with the same address map,
so device addresses are equal to the Linux physical addresses.
In order to initialize this remote processor we need to:
- power on the realtime core
- put the firmware in a RAM area
- set the boot address for this firmware (reset vector)
- Deassert the reset
This initial driver allows to start and stop the Cortex R7
processor.

Provide a basic driver to control DSP processor found on NXP i.MX8QM,
i.MX8QXP, i.MX8MP and i.MX8ULP.
Currently it is able to resolve addresses between DSP and main CPU,
start and stop the processor, suspend and resume.
The communication between DSP and main CPU is based on mailbox, there
are three mailbox channels (tx, rx, rxdb).
This driver was tested on NXP i.MX8QM, i.MX8QXP, i.MX8MP and i.MX8ULP.

Amlogic Meson6, Meson8, Meson8b and Meson8m2 embed an ARC core in the
Always-On (AO) power-domain. This is typically used for waking up the
ARM cores after system suspend.
The configuration is spread across three different registers:
- AO_REMAP_REG0 which must be programmed to zero, it's actual purpose
is unknown. There is a second remap register which is not used in the
vendor kernel (which served as reference for this driver).
- AO_CPU_CNTL is used to start and stop the ARC core.
- AO_SECURE_REG0 in the SECBUS2 register area with unknown purpose.
To boot the ARC core we also need to enable it's gate clock and trigger
a reset.
The actual code for this ARC core can come from an ELF binary, for
example by building the Zephyr RTOS for an ARC EM4 core and then taking
"zephyr.elf" as firmware. This executable does not have any "rsc table"
so we are skipping rproc_elf_load_rsc_table (rproc_ops.parse_fw) and
rproc_elf_find_loaded_rsc_table (rproc_ops.find_loaded_rsc_table).

The Programmable Real-Time Unit Subsystem (PRUSS) consists of
dual 32-bit RISC cores (Programmable Real-Time Units, or PRUs)
for program execution. This patch adds a remoteproc platform
driver for managing the individual PRU RISC cores life cycle.
The PRUs do not have a unified address space (have an Instruction
RAM and a primary Data RAM at both 0x0). The PRU remoteproc driver
therefore uses a custom remoteproc core ELF loader ops. The added
.da_to_va ops is only used to provide translations for the PRU
Data RAMs. This remoteproc driver does not have support for error
recovery and system suspend/resume features. Different compatibles
are used to allow providing scalability for instance-specific device
data if needed. The driver uses a default firmware-name retrieved
from device-tree for each PRU core, and the firmwares are expected
to be present in the standard Linux firmware search paths. They can
also be adjusted by userspace if required through the sysfs interface
provided by the remoteproc core.
The PRU remoteproc driver uses a client-driven boot methodology: it
does _not_ support auto-boot so that the PRU load and boot is dictated
by the corresponding client drivers for achieving various usecases.
This allows flexibility for the client drivers or applications to set
a firmware name (if needed) based on their desired functionality and
boot the PRU. The sysfs bind and unbind attributes have also been
suppressed so that the PRU devices cannot be unbound and thereby
shutdown a PRU from underneath a PRU client driver.
The driver currently supports the AM335x, AM437x, AM57xx and 66AK2G
SoCs, and support for other TI SoCs will be added in subsequent
patches.

The TI K3 family of SoCs typically have one or more dual-core Arm Cortex
R5F processor clusters/subsystems (R5FSS). This R5F subsystem/cluster
can be configured at boot time to be either run in a LockStep mode or in
an Asymmetric Multi Processing (AMP) fashion in Split-mode. This subsystem
has 64 KB each Tightly-Coupled Memory (TCM) internal memories for each
core split between two banks - TCMA and TCMB (further interleaved into
two banks). The subsystem does not have an MMU, but has a Region Address
Translater (RAT) module that is accessible only from the R5Fs for providing
translations between 32-bit CPU addresses into larger system bus addresses.
Add a remoteproc driver to support this subsystem to be able to load and
boot the R5F cores primarily in LockStep mode. The code also includes the
base support for Split mode. Error Recovery and Power Management features
are not currently supported. Loading support includes the internal TCMs
and DDR. RAT support is left for a future patch, and as such the reserved
memory carveout regions are all expected to be using memory regions within
the first 2 GB.
The R5F remote processors do not have an MMU, and so require fixed memory
carveout regions matching the firmware image addresses. Support for this
is provided by mandating multiple memory regions to be attached to the
remoteproc device. The first memory region will be used to serve as the
DMA pool for all dynamic allocations like the vrings and vring buffers.
The remaining memory regions are mapped into the kernel at device probe
time, and are used to provide address translations for firmware image
segments without the need for any RSC_CARVEOUT entries. Any firmware
image using memory outside of the supplied reserved memory carveout
regions will be errored out.
The R5F processors on TI K3 SoCs require a specific sequence for booting
and shutting down the processors. This sequence is also dependent on the
mode (LockStep or Split) the R5F cluster is configured for. The R5F cores
have a Memory Protection Unit (MPU) that has a default configuration that
does not allow the cores to run out of DDR out of reset. This is resolved
by using the TCMs for boot-strapping code that applies the appropriate
executable permissions on desired DDR memory. The loading into the TCMs
requires that the resets be released first with the cores in halted state.
The Power Sleep Controller (PSC) module on K3 SoCs requires that the cores
be in WFI/WFE states with no active bus transactions before the cores can
be put back into reset. Support for this is provided by using the newly
introduced .prepare() and .unprepare() ops in the remoteproc core. The
.prepare() ops is invoked before any loading, and the .unprepare() ops
is invoked after the remoteproc resource cleanup. The R5F core resets
are deasserted in .prepare() and asserted in .unprepare(), and the cores
themselves are started and halted in .start() and .stop() ops. This
ensures symmetric usage and allows the R5F cores state machine to be
maintained properly between using the sysfs 'state' variable, bind/unbind
and regular module load/unload flows.
The subsystem is represented as a single remoteproc in LockStep mode, and
as two remoteprocs in Split mode. The driver uses various TI-SCI interfaces
to talk to the System Controller (DMSC) for managing configuration, power
and reset management of these cores. IPC between the A53 cores and the R5
cores is supported through the virtio rpmsg stack using shared memory and
OMAP Mailboxes.
The AM65x SoCs typically have a single R5FSS in the MCU voltage domain. The
J721E SoCs uses a slightly revised IP and typically have three R5FSSs, with
one cluster present within the MCU voltage domain (MCU_R5FSS0), and the
remaining two clusters present in the MAIN voltage domain (MAIN_R5FSS0 and
MAIN_R5FSS1). The integration of these clusters on J721E SoC is also
slightly different in that these IPs do support an actual local reset line,
while they are a no-op on AM65x SoCs.

Add the character device interface into remoteproc framework.
This interface can be used in order to boot/shutdown remote
subsystems and provides a basic ioctl based interface to implement
supplementary functionality. An ioctl call is implemented to enable
the shutdown on release feature which will allow remote processors to
be shutdown when the controlling userspace application crashes or hangs.

The IPA code now uses the generic remoteproc SSR notification
mechanism. This makes the original IPA notification code unused
and unnecessary, so get rid of it.
This is effectively a revert of commit d7f5f3c89c1a ("remoteproc:
add IPA notification to q6v5 driver").

The Texas Instrument's K3 J721E SoCs have two C66x DSP Subsystems in MAIN
voltage domain that are based on the TI's standard TMS320C66x DSP CorePac
module. Each subsystem has a Fixed/Floating-Point DSP CPU, with 32 KB each
of L1P & L1D SRAMs that can be configured and partitioned as either RAM
and/or Cache, and 288 KB of L2 SRAM with 256 KB of memory configurable as
either RAM and/or Cache. The CorePac also includes an Internal DMA (IDMA),
External Memory Controller (EMC), Extended Memory Controller (XMC) with a
Region Address Translator (RAT) unit for 32-bit to 48-bit address
extension/translations, an Interrupt Controller (INTC) and a Powerdown
Controller (PDC).
A new remoteproc module is added to perform the device management of
these DSP devices. The support is limited to images using only external
DDR memory at the moment, the loading support to internal memories and
any on-chip RAM memories will be added in a subsequent patch. RAT support
is also left for a future patch, and as such the reserved memory carveout
regions are all expected to be using memory regions within the first 2 GB.

A region in IMEM is used to communicate load addresses of remoteproc to
post mortem debug tools. Implement a helper function that can be used to
store this information in order to enable these tools to process
collected ramdumps.

Set up a subdev in the q6v5 modem remoteproc driver that generates
event notifications for the IPA driver to use for initialization and
recovery following a modem shutdown or crash.
A pair of new functions provides a way for the IPA driver to register
and deregister a notification callback function that will be called
whenever modem events (about to boot, running, about to shut down,
etc.) occur. A void pointer value (provided by the IPA driver at
registration time) and an event type are supplied to the callback
function.
One event, MODEM_REMOVING, is signaled whenever the q6v5 driver is
about to remove the notification subdevice. It requires the IPA
driver de-register its callback.
This sub-device is only used by the modem subsystem (MSS) driver,
so the code that adds the new subdev and allows registration and
deregistration of the notifier is found in "qcom_q6v6_mss.c".

The qcom_q6v5_pil implements support for the self-authenticating modem
subsystem. With the introduction of other q6v5 based non-TZ based
remoteproc driver the current name is cause for confusion, so rename it
to be more specific.
No functional change.

The Hexagon v5 ADSP driver is used for more than only the ADSP and
there's an upcoming non-PAS ADSP PIL for SDM845, so rename the driver to
qcom_q6v5_pas in order to better suite this.

IPQ8074 has an integrated Hexagon dsp core q6v5 and a wireless lan
(Lithium) IP. An mdt type single image format is used for the
firmware. So the mdt_load function can be directly used to load
the firmware. Also add the relevant resets required for this core.

Shared between all Hexagon V5 based remoteprocs is the handling of the 5
interrupts and the SMP2P stop request, so break this out into a separate
function in order to allow these drivers to be cleaned up.

The sysmon client communicates either via a dedicated SMD/GLINK channel
or via QMI encoded messages over IPCROUTER with remote processors in
order to perform graceful shutdown and inform about other remote
processors shutting down.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Provide a basic driver to control Cortex M4 co-processor found
on NXP i.MX7D and i.MX6SX.
Currently it is able to resolve addresses between M4 and main CPU,
start and stop the co-processor. Other functionality is not provided
or test.
This driver was tested on NXP i.MX7D and expected to work on
i.MX6SX as well.

The Texas Instrument's Keystone 2 family of SoCs has 1 or more
TMS320C66x DSP Core Subsystems (C66x CorePacs). Each subsystem has
a C66x Fixed/Floating-Point DSP Core, with 32KB of L1P and L1D SRAMs,
that can be configured and partitioned as either RAM and/or Cache,
and 1 MB of L2 SRAM. The CorePac also includes an Internal DMA (IDMA),
External Memory Controller (EMC), Extended Memory Controller (XMC)
with a Memory Protection and Address Extension (MPAX) unit, a Bandwidth
Management (BWM) unit, an Interrupt Controller (INTC) and a Powerdown
Controller (PDC).
A new remoteproc module is added to perform the device management of
these DSP devices. The driver expects the firmware names to be of the
form "keystone-dsp<X>-fw", where X is the corresponding DSP number, and
uses the standard remoteproc core ELF loader. The support is limited
to images only using the DSP internal memories at the moment. This
remoteproc driver is also designed to work with virtio, and uses the
IPC Generation registers for performing the virtio signalling and
getting notified of exceptions.
The driver currently supports the 66AK2H/66AK2K, 66AK2L and 66AK2E
SoCs.

Back in July 2014 I asked around what was the intended target
platform for the STE Modem remoteproc driver, so that I could add the
proper hardware dependency to its config option. The answer I got was
that there was no known publicly available hardware needing it and it
was unlikely that there ever would.
So I think it's time to delete this driver to lower the maintenance
burden.

The tie between the main WCNSS driver and the IRIS driver causes a
circular dependency between the two modules. Neither part makes sense to
have on their own so lets merge them into one module.
For the sake of picking up the clock and regulator resources described
in the iris of_node we need an associated struct device. But, to keep
the size of the patch down we continue to represent the IRIS part as its
own platform_driver, within the same module, rather than setting up a
dummy device.

This patch adds a sysfs interface to rproc allowing the firmware name
and processor state to be changed dynamically.
State was previously available in debugfs, and is replicated here. The
firmware file allows retrieval of the running firmware name, and a new
one to be specified at run time, so long as the remote processor has
been stopped.

slim core is used as a basis for many IPs in the STi
chipsets such as fdma and demux. To avoid duplicating
the elf loading code in each device driver a slim
rproc driver has been created.
This driver is designed to be used by other device drivers
such as fdma, or demux whose IP is based around a slim core.
The device driver can call slim_rproc_alloc() to allocate
a slim rproc and slim_rproc_put() when finished.
This driver takes care of ioremapping the slim
registers (dmem, imem, slimcore, peripherals), whose offsets
and sizes can change between IP's. It also obtains and enables
any clocks used by the device. This approach avoids having
a double mapping of the registers as slim_rproc does not register
its own platform device. It also maps well to device tree
abstraction as it allows us to have one dt node for the whole
device.
All of the generic rproc elf loading code can be reused, and
we provide start() stop() hooks to start and stop the slim
core once the firmware has been loaded. This has been tested
successfully with fdma driver.

This introduces the peripheral image loader, for loading WCNSS firmware
and boot the core on e.g. MSM8974. The firmware is verified and booted
with the help of the Peripheral Authentication System (PAS) in
TrustZone.

Add a remoteproc driver to load the firmware and boot a small
Wakeup M3 processor present on TI AM33xx and AM43xx SoCs. This
Wakeup M3 remote processor is an integrated Cortex M3 that allows
the SoC to enter the lowest possible power state by taking control
from the MPU after it has gone into its own low power state and
shutting off any additional peripherals.
The Wakeup M3 processor has two internal memory regions - 16 kB of
unified instruction memory called UMEM used to store executable
code, and 8 kB of data memory called DMEM used for all data sections.
The Wakeup M3 processor executes its code entirely from within the
UMEM and uses the DMEM for any data. It does not use any external
memory or any other external resources. The device address view has
the UMEM at address 0x0 and DMEM at address 0x80000, and these are
computed automatically within the driver based on relative address
calculation from the corresponding device tree IOMEM resources.
These device addresses are used to aid the core remoteproc ELF
loader code to properly translate and load the firmware segments
through the .rproc_da_to_va ops.

Prepare for introduction of custom firmware loaders by
moving all ELF related handling into a separate file.
The functions: rproc_find_rsc_table(), rproc_fw_sanity_check(),
rproc_find_rsc_table() and rproc_get_boot_addr() are moved
to the new file remoteproc_elf_loader.c. The function
rproc_da_to_va() is made non-static and is declared in
remoteproc_internal.h
No functional changes are introduced in this patch.

At this point remoteproc can only register a single VIRTIO_ID_RPMSG virtio
device.
This limitation is going away soon: remoteproc is getting support for
registering any number of virtio devices and of any type (as
published by the firmware of the remote processor).
Rename remoteproc_rpmsg.c to remoteproc_virtio.c in preparation of
this generalization work.

Add a remoteproc driver for OMAP4, so we can boot the dual-M3 and
and DSP subsystems.
Use the omap_device_* API to control the hardware state, and utilize
the OMAP mailbox to interrupt the remote processor when a new message
is pending (the mailbox payload is used to tell it which virtqueue was
the message placed in).
Conversely, when an inbound mailbox message arrives, tell the remoteproc
core which virtqueue is triggered.
Later we will also use the mailbox payload to signal omap-specific
events like remote crashes (which will be used to trigger remoteproc
recovery) and power management transitions. At that point we will also
extend the remoteproc core to support this.

Create an rpmsg virtio device to allow message-based communication
with the remote processor (but only if supported by its firmware).
There are several advantages to provide this functionality at
the remoteproc-level:
- to support it, platforms only have to provide their own ->kick()
handler; no need to duplicate the rest of the code.
- the virtio device is created only when the remote processor is
registered and ready to go. No need to depend on initcall magic.
moreover, we only add the virtio device if the firmware really
supports it, and only after we know the supported virtio device features.
- correct device model hierarchy can be set, and that is useful
for natural power management and DMA API behavior.
- when the remote processor crashes (or removed) we only need
to remove the virtio device, and the driver core will take care of
the rest. No need to implement any out-of-bound notifiers.
- we can now easily bind the virtio device to its rproc handle, and
this way we don't need any name-based remoteproc ->get() API.
Currently we only support creating a single rpmsg virtio device per
remote processor, but later this is going to be extended to support
creating numerous virtio devices of other types too (block, net,
console...).

Modern SoCs typically employ a central symmetric multiprocessing (SMP)
application processor running Linux, with several other asymmetric
multiprocessing (AMP) heterogeneous processors running different instances
of operating system, whether Linux or any other flavor of real-time OS.
Booting a remote processor in an AMP configuration typically involves:
- Loading a firmware which contains the OS image
- Allocating and providing it required system resources (e.g. memory)
- Programming an IOMMU (when relevant)
- Powering on the device
This patch introduces a generic framework that allows drivers to do
that. In the future, this framework will also include runtime power
management and error recovery.
