2024-10-28media: platform: drop vb2_ops_wait_prepare/finishHans Verkuil1-2/+0
Since commit 88785982a19d ("media: vb2: use lock if wait_prepare/finish are NULL") it is no longer needed to set the wait_prepare/finish vb2_ops callbacks as long as the lock field in vb2_queue is set. Since the vb2_ops_wait_prepare/finish callbacks already rely on that field, we can safely drop these callbacks. This simplifies the code and this is a step towards the goal of deleting these callbacks. 2024-10-12media: Switch back to struct platform_driver::remove()Uwe Kleine-König1-1/+1
After commit 0edb555a65d1 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove() return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for platform drivers. Convert all platform drivers below drivers/media to use .remove(), with the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As .remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer. 2024-08-26media: sun4i_csi: Don't use v4l2_subdev_link_validate() for video deviceLaurent Pinchart1-1/+8
The v4l2_subdev_link_validate() function is a helper designed to validate links whose sink is a subdev. When called on a link whose sink is a video device, it only prints a warning and returns. Its usage in the sun4i_csi driver is wrong, leaving the link from the sub4i_csi subdev to the capture video device unvalidated. Planned improvements to the v4l2_subdev_link_validate() function will turn the warning into an error, breaking the sun4i_csi driver. As an interim measure, move the warning to the sun4i_csi driver in a custom validation handler, and drop the call to the helper. The sun4i_csi driver doesn't implement link validation for the subdev it registers, leaving the link between the subdev and its source unvalidated. 2023-12-04media: v4l2-subdev: Rename .init_cfg() operation to .init_state()Laurent Pinchart3-3/+8
The subdev .init_cfg() operation is affected by two issues: - It has long been extended to initialize a whole v4l2_subdev_state instead of just a v4l2_subdev_pad_config, but its name has stuck around. - Despite operating on a whole subdev state and not being directly exposed to the subdev users (either in-kernel or through the userspace API), .init_cfg() is categorized as a subdev pad operation. This participates in making the subdev API confusing for new developers. Fix it by renaming the operation to .init_state(), and make it a subdev internal operation. 2023-08-10media: v4l: async: Set v4l2_device and subdev in async notifier initSakari Ailus1-2/+2
Set the v4l2_device already in async notifier init, so struct device related to it will be available before the notifier is registered. This requires separating notifier initialisation into two functions, one that takes v4l2_device as its argument, v4l2_async_nf_init and v4l2_async_subdev_nf_init, for sub-device notifiers. Registering the notifier will use a single function, v4l2_async_nf_register. This is done in order to make struct device available earlier, during construction of the async connections, for sensible debug prints. Rename v4l2_async_subdev as v4l2_async_connection, in order to differentiate between the sub-devices and their connections: one sub-device can have many connections but the V4L2 async framework has so far allowed just a single one. Connections in this context will later translate into either MC ancillary or data links. This patch prepares changing that relation by changing existing users of v4l2_async_subdev to switch to v4l2_async_connection. Async sub-devices themselves will not be needed anymore Additionally, __v4l2_async_nf_add_subdev() has been renamed __v4l2_async_nf_add_connection(). 2023-07-19media: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring1-1/+0
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2023-04-11media: sun4i_csi: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König1-4/+2
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2022-03-18media: Kconfig: cleanup VIDEO_DEV dependenciesMauro Carvalho Chehab1-1/+1
media Kconfig has two entries associated to V4L API: VIDEO_DEV and VIDEO_V4L2. On Kernel 2.6.x, there were two V4L APIs, each one with its own flag. VIDEO_DEV were meant to: 1) enable Video4Linux and make its Kconfig options to appear; 2) it makes the Kernel build the V4L core. while VIDEO_V4L2 where used to distinguish between drivers that implement the newer API and drivers that implemented the former one. With time, such meaning changed, specially after the removal of all V4L version 1 drivers. At the current implementation, VIDEO_DEV only does (1): it enables the media options related to V4L, that now has: menu "Video4Linux options" visible if VIDEO_DEV source "drivers/media/v4l2-core/Kconfig" endmenu but it doesn't affect anymore the V4L core drivers. The rationale is that the V4L2 core has a "soft" dependency at the I2C bus, and now requires to select a number of other Kconfig options: config VIDEO_V4L2 tristate depends on (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV select RATIONAL select VIDEOBUF2_V4L2 if VIDEOBUF2_CORE default (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV In the past, merging them would be tricky, but it seems that it is now possible to merge those symbols, in order to simplify V4L dependencies. Let's keep VIDEO_DEV, as this one is used on some make *defconfig configurations. 2022-03-14media: platform: move platform menu dependencies to driversMauro Carvalho Chehab1-0/+1
Right now, platform dependencies are organized by the type of the platform driver. Yet, things tend to become very messy with time. The better seems to organize the drivers per manufacturer, as other Kernel subsystems are doing. As a preparation for such purpose, get rid of menuconfigs, moving the per-menu dependencies to be at the driver-specifig config entires. This shoud give flexibility to reorganize the platform drivers per manufacturer and re-sort them. This patch removes all "if..endif" options from the platform Kconfig, converting them into depends on. 2021-06-17media: v4l2-subdev: add subdev-wide state structTomi Valkeinen1-7/+9
We have 'struct v4l2_subdev_pad_config' which contains configuration for a single pad used for the TRY functionality, and an array of those structs is passed to various v4l2_subdev_pad_ops. I was working on subdev internal routing between pads, and realized that there's no way to add TRY functionality for routes, which is not pad specific configuration. Adding a separate struct for try-route config wouldn't work either, as e.g. set-fmt needs to know the try-route configuration to propagate the settings. This patch adds a new struct, 'struct v4l2_subdev_state' (which at the moment only contains the v4l2_subdev_pad_config array) and the new struct is used in most of the places where v4l2_subdev_pad_config was used. All v4l2_subdev_pad_ops functions taking v4l2_subdev_pad_config are changed to instead take v4l2_subdev_state. The changes to drivers/media/v4l2-core/v4l2-subdev.c and include/media/v4l2-subdev.h were written by hand, and all the driver changes were done with the semantic patch below. The functions that add an async subdev to an async subdev notifier take as an argument the size of the container structure they need to allocate. This is error prone, as passing an invalid size will not be caught by the compiler. Wrap those functions in macros that take a container type instead of a size, and cast the returned pointer to the desired type. The compiler will catch mistakes if the incorrect type is passed to the macro, as the assignment types won't match. 2020-09-17dma-mapping: introduce DMA range map, supplanting dma_pfn_offsetJim Quinlan1-1/+8
The new field 'dma_range_map' in struct device is used to facilitate the use of single or multiple offsets between mapping regions of cpu addrs and dma addrs. It subsumes the role of "dev->dma_pfn_offset" which was only capable of holding a single uniform offset and had no region bounds checking. The function of_dma_get_range() has been modified so that it takes a single argument -- the device node -- and returns a map, NULL, or an error code. The map is an array that holds the information regarding the DMA regions. Each range entry contains the address offset, the cpu_start address, the dma_start address, and the size of the region. of_dma_configure() is the typical manner to set range offsets but there are a number of ad hoc assignments to "dev->dma_pfn_offset" in the kernel driver code. These cases now invoke the function dma_direct_set_offset(dev, cpu_addr, dma_addr, size). 2020-03-02media: Split v4l2_pipeline_pm_use into v4l2_pipeline_pm_{get, put}Ezequiel Garcia1-3/+3
Currently, v4l2_pipeline_pm_use() prototype is: int v4l2_pipeline_pm_use(struct media_entity *entity, int use) Where the 'use' argument shall only be set to '1' for enable/power-on, or to '0' for disable/power-off. The integer return is specified as only meaningful when 'use' is set to '1'. Let's enforce this semantic by splitting the function in two: v4l2_pipeline_pm_get and v4l2_pipeline_pm_put. This is done for several reasons. It makes the API easier to use (or harder to misuse). It removes the constraint on the values the 'use' argument shall take. Also, it removes the need to constraint the return value, by making v4l2_pipeline_pm_put void return. And last, it's more consistent with other kernel APIs, such as the runtime pm APIs, which makes the code more symmetric. 2020-01-04media: sun4i-csi: Add support for A10 CSI1 camera sensor interfaceChen-Yu Tsai2-5/+32
The A10/A20 Allwinner SoCs have two camera sensor interface blocks, named CSI0 and CSI1. The two have the same register layouts with slightly different features: - CSI0 has an image signal processor (ISP); CSI1 doesn't - CSI0 can support up to four separate channels under CCIR656; CSI1 can only support one - CSI0 can support up to 16-bit wide bus with YUV422; CSI1 can support up to 24-bit wide bus with YUV444 For now the driver doesn't support wide busses, nor CCIR656. So the only relevant difference is whether a clock needs to be taken and enabled for the ISP. Add structs to record the differences, tie them to the compatible strings, and deal with the ISP clock. Support for the new CSI1 hardware block is added as well. 2020-01-04media: sun4i-csi: Deal with DRAM offsetChen-Yu Tsai1-0/+22
On Allwinner SoCs, some high memory bandwidth devices do DMA directly over the memory bus (called MBUS), instead of the system bus. These devices include the CSI camera sensor interface, video (codec) engine, display subsystem, etc.. The memory bus has a different addressing scheme without the DRAM starting offset. Deal with this using the "interconnects" property from the device tree, or if that is not available, set dev->dma_pfn_offset to PHYS_PFN_OFFSET. 2020-01-04media: sun4i-csi: Fix [HV]sync polarity handlingChen-Yu Tsai2-7/+15
The Allwinner camera sensor interface has a different definition of [HV]sync. While the timing diagram uses the names HSYNC and VSYNC, the note following the diagram and register names use HREF and VREF. Combined they imply the hardware uses either [HV]REF or inverted [HV]SYNC. There are also registers to set horizontal skip lengths in pixels and vertical skip lengths in lines, also known as back porches. Fix the polarity handling by using the opposite polarity flag for the checks. Also rename `[hv]sync_pol` to `[hv]ref_pol` to better match the hardware register description. 2020-01-04media: sun4i-csi: Fix data sampling polarity handlingChen-Yu Tsai1-1/+1
The CLK_POL field specifies whether data is sampled on the falling or rising edge of PCLK, not whether the data lines are active high or low. Evidence of this can be found in the timing diagram labeled "horizontal size setting and pixel clock timing". Fix the setting by checking the correct flag, V4L2_MBUS_PCLK_SAMPLE_RISING. While at it, reorder the three polarity flag checks so HSYNC and VSYNC are grouped together. The older CSI drivers have camera capture interface different from the one in the newer ones. This IP is pretty simple. Some variants (one controller out of two instances on some SoCs) have an ISP embedded, but there's no code that make use of it, so we ignored that part for now.
