2024-05-02sh: Convert the last use of 'optional' property in KconfigMasahiro Yamada1-0/+1
The 'choice' statement is primarily used to exclusively select one option, but the 'optional' property allows all entries to be disabled. This feature is rarely used. In fact, it is only used in arch/sh/Kconfig because the equivalent outcome can be achieved by inserting one more entry. The 'optional' property support will be removed from Kconfig. This commit replaces the 'optional' property with a dummy option, CMDLINE_FROM_BOOTLOADER, as seen in some other architectures. Note: The 'default CMDLINE_OVERWRITE' statement does not work as intended in combination with 'optional'. If neither CONFIG_CMDLINE_OVERWRITE nor CONFIG_CMDLINE_EXTEND is specified in a defconfig file, both of them are disabled. This is a bug. To maintain the current behavior, I added CONFIG_CMDLINE_FROM_BOOTLOADER=y to those defconfig files. 2023-05-26mm/slab: rename CONFIG_SLAB to CONFIG_SLAB_DEPRECATEDVlastimil Babka1-1/+0
As discussed at LSF/MM [1] [2] and with no objections raised there, deprecate the SLAB allocator. Rename the user-visible option so that users with CONFIG_SLAB=y get a new prompt with explanation during make oldconfig, while make olddefconfig will just switch to SLUB. In all defconfigs with CONFIG_SLAB=y remove the line so those also switch to SLUB. Regressions due to the switch should be reported to linux-mm and slab maintainers. 2020-08-15all arch: remove system call sys_sysctlXiaoming Ni1-1/+0
Since commit 61a47c1ad3a4dc ("sysctl: Remove the sysctl system call"), sys_sysctl is actually unavailable: any input can only return an error. We have been warning about people using the sysctl system call for years and believe there are no more users. Even if there are users of this interface if they have not complained or fixed their code by now they probably are not going to, so there is no point in warning them any longer. So completely remove sys_sysctl on all architectures. 2019-06-10sh: configs: Remove useless UEVENT_HELPER_PATHKrzysztof Kozlowski1-1/+0
Remove the CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER_PATH because: 1. It is disabled since commit 1be01d4a5714 ("driver: base: Disable CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER by default") as its dependency (UEVENT_HELPER) was made default to 'n', 2. It is not recommended (help message: "This should not be used today [...] creates a high system load") and was kept only for ancient userland, 3. Certain userland specifically requests it to be disabled (systemd README: "Legacy hotplug slows down the system and confuses udev"). 2010-09-14sh: Set CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED_V2=nMatt Fleming1-1/+0
As the help for the config option suggests, this option really shouldn't be set by default for any recent distribution as it changes the layout of sysfs. I spotted this while running debian when udev got very confused by the sysfs layout and failed to create some device nodes. 2006-01-17[PATCH] sh: consolidate hp620/hp680/hp690 targets into hp6xxPaul Mundt1-0/+743
Most of the reasons for keeping these separate before was due to hp690 discontig, and since we have a workaround for that now (abusing some shadow space so everything is magically contiguous), there's no reason to keep the targets separate.
