2023-04-20powerpc: drop PowerQUICC II Family ADS platform supportPaul Gortmaker1-80/+0
Based on documentation revision dates, this MPC82xx pq2fads system predates the MPC8272-ADS variant by about a year and only has 1/2 the amount of RAM (32MB) -- largely making it useless with a modern v6.x kernel from today. Similar to the MPC8272-ADS the pq2fads also supported other 82xx CPU variants, had 8MB flash, and like the 8272 ADS platform, was on a fairly large PCB in order to have space for breakout connectors for all features. These 82xx platforms are two decades old, and originally made for a small group of industry related people in order to assist in new OEM board designs. Given that, it makes sense to remove support today. 2022-06-29powerpc: Restore CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO in defconfigsChristophe Leroy1-1/+1
Commit f9b3cd245784 ("Kconfig.debug: make DEBUG_INFO selectable from a choice") broke the selection of CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO by powerpc defconfigs. It is now necessary to select one of the three DEBUG_INFO_DWARF* options to get DEBUG_INFO enabled. 2019-07-03powerpc/configs: Remove useless UEVENT_HELPER_PATHKrzysztof Kozlowski1-1/+0
Remove the CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER_PATH because: 1. It is disabled since commit 1be01d4a5714 ("driver: base: Disable CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER by default") as its dependency (UEVENT_HELPER) was made default to 'n', 2. It is not recommended (help message: "This should not be used today [...] creates a high system load") and was kept only for ancient userland, 3. Certain userland specifically requests it to be disabled (systemd README: "Legacy hotplug slows down the system and confuses udev"). It looks like it's ~4 years since we updated some of these, so do a bulk update. Verified that the before and after generated configs are exactly the same. Which begs the question why update them? 2011-01-21kconfig: rename CONFIG_EMBEDDED to CONFIG_EXPERTDavid Rientjes1-1/+1
The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than only small devices. This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes references to the option throughout the kernel. A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc). Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they are making should enable it. 2007-10-17[POWERPC] Enable SLUB in *_defconfigAnton Blanchard1-3/+4
When checking out the new NO_HZ support in powerpc, I noticed we never slept for more than 2 seconds. It turns out SLAB has a 2 second per cpu timer that causes this. After switching to SLUB I see some nice 4 second sleeps which is the limit on this POWER6 box (the decrementer ticks at 512MHz): slept 4.19 sec slept 4.19 sec slept 4.19 sec slept 4.19 sec slept 3.96 sec slept 3.80 sec slept 2.99 sec Since SLUB is now the default and some powerpc defconfigs already enable it, lets enable SLUB across the board for consistency. While doing this I also noticed that the maple defconfig has SLAB debugging enabled which is sure to make your box nice and slow. Fix that too.
