2019-06-14docs: ptp.txt: convert to ReST and move to driver-apiMauro Carvalho Chehab1-86/+0
The conversion is trivial: just adjust title markups. In order to avoid conflicts, let's add an :orphan: tag to it, to be removed when this file gets added to the driver-api book. 2018-03-26ptp: Fix documentation to match code.Richard Cochran1-4/+1
Ever since commit 3a06c7ac24f9 ("posix-clocks: Remove interval timer facility and mmap/fasync callbacks") the possibility of PHC based posix timers has been removed. In addition it will probably never make sense to implement this functionality. This patch removes the misleading text which seems to suggest that posix timers for PHC devices will ever be a thing. 2011-05-24ptp: Added a brand new class driver for ptp clocks.Richard Cochran1-0/+89
This patch adds an infrastructure for hardware clocks that implement IEEE 1588, the Precision Time Protocol (PTP). A class driver offers a registration method to particular hardware clock drivers. Each clock is presented as a standard POSIX clock. The ancillary clock features are exposed in two different ways, via the sysfs and by a character device.
