2020-04-22OvmfPkg/ResetSystemLib: factor out ResetShutdown()Laszlo Ersek1-49/+0
Move the ResetShutdown() definition to its own file. This will help us introduce: - a new library instance that is not broken in runtime modules (the current library instance is broken in runtime modules), - another new library instance for bhyve support. While at it, squash AcpiPmControl() into ResetShutdown(), open-coding SuspendType=0. This is justified because we've had no other callers for AcpiPmControl() since commit 2d9950a2bff8 ("OvmfPkg: remove EnterS3WithImmediateWake () from ResetSystemLib", 2020-01-10). Tested with the "reset -s" UEFI shell command, on both i440fx and q35. The cases under ResetSystem() currently mix "break"s with "return"s for no good reason. Use "break" consistently. (The inconsistency was introduced in commit 84c0b80de716, "OvmfPkg/ResetSystemLib: Add new API ResetSystem", 2019-04-28.) 2020-04-22OvmfPkg/ResetSystemLib: clean up library dependenciesLaszlo Ersek1-8/+9
Annotate the #include directives with the interfaces that this lib instance needs from the included lib class headers. This will help us keep the #include set minimal, when we move code around later. While at it, synchronize the [LibraryClasses] section with the #include directives -- list BaseLib. Also #include the ResetSystemLib class header, which declares the interfaces that this lib instance implements. This forces us to spell out the "MdeModulePkg.dec" dependency too, under [Packages]. REF: https://bugzilla.tianocore.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1460 Add a new API ResetSystem to this ResetSystemLib instance. It only adds the basic functions from ResetSystemRuntimeDxe. Lacking of this interface may cause link error, if some drivers use this new API and link to this library instance. Notes: This library API only provide a basic function of reset. 2016-05-17OvmfPkg: determine PMBA value dependent on host bridge device IDLaszlo Ersek1-2/+20
In this patch, the AcpiTimerLib instances, ResetSystemLib, and PlatformPei are modified together in order to keep VMs functional across a bisection: they all must agree on the PMBA value used. ResetSystemLib must not use dynamic PCDs. With SOURCE_DEBUG_ENABLE, it gets linked into the debug agent, therefore the same restrictions apply to it as to BaseRomAcpiTimerLib. Luckily, AcpiPmControl() is only used for powering off the virtual machine, thus the extra cost of a PCI config space read, compared to a PcdGet16(), should be negligible. This is the patch that moves the PMBA to IO port 0x0600 on Q35 in practice. The ResetSystemLib change is easiest to verify with the "reset -s" command in the UEFI shell (which goes through gRT->ResetSystem() and, in OVMF, PcAtChipsetPkg/KbcResetDxe). 2016-05-17OvmfPkg: replace PcdAcpiPmBaseAddress with PIIX4_PMBA_VALUELaszlo Ersek1-3/+4
In the next patches, we'll differentiate the PMBA IO port address that we program on PIIX4 vs. Q35. Normally we'd just turn PcdAcpiPmBaseAddress into a dynamic PCD. However, because we need this value in BaseRomAcpiTimerLib too (which cannot access RAM and dynamic PCDs), it must remain a build time constant. We will introduce its Q35 counterpart later. As first step, replace the PCD with a new macro in "OvmfPlatforms.h"; Jordan prefers the latter to fixed PCDs in this instance. 2013-07-19OvmfPkg ResetSystemLib: Fix shutdown via UEFI runtime servicesJordan Justen1-3/+4
When the PM base address was moved from 0x400 to 0xb000, this code was missed. This prevented shutdown's via the UEFI system call from working. (For example, at the EFI shell prompt: reset -s) We now use gUefiOvmfPkgTokenSpaceGuid.PcdAcpiPmBaseAddress which is currently set at 0xb000. 2013-03-04OvmfPkg: make sure ResetCold() and ResetWarm() never returnjljusten1-0/+5
Also, add a small delay after the 0xCF9 hard reset request -- on qemu/kvm the port access is translated to the qemu-internal system reset request by the CPU thread, and it might progress some more before the IO thread acts upon the system reset request. MicroSecondDelay() is implemented by OvmfPkg's own AcpiTimerLib. 2013-03-04OvmfPkg: attempt to trigger cold reset through PIIX3 reset control registerjljusten1-1/+2
The reset requested via the keyboard controller (port 0x64) is actually a soft reset, but qemu has supported it since forever (plus qemu has not distinguished between hard reset and soft reset, although this is changing now). Therefore leave the current IoWrite() in place for compatibility. On qemu versions with commit 1ec4ba74 ("PIIX3: reset the VM when the Reset Control Register's RCPU bit gets set"), use the PIIX3 RCR as first choice. In the future qemu will act differently on soft vs. hard reset requests, and we should honor that in ResetCold(). Writing to ioport 0xCF9 on qemu builds prior to commit 1ec4ba74 should have no effect. Access to the PCI host config register went through several implementations in qemu. Commit 9f6f0423 ("pci_host: rewrite using rwhandler") seems safe, both before and after. Commit d0ed8076 ("pci_host: convert conf index and data ports to memory API") inadvertently dropped the alignment/size check, causing a boot regression on NetBSD. It was fixed about six months later in commit cdde6ffc, which is current. Translating that to qemu releases, the bug was visible from v1.0 to v1.1.0. On physical hardware cycling between reset methods is sometimes necessary <http://mjg59.dreamwidth.org/3561.html>. On qemu the port access should trap immediately.
