2022-04-20drm/amdgpu: Enable gfxoff quirk on MacBook ProTomasz Moń1-0/+2
commit 4593c1b6d159f1e5c35c07a7f125e79e5a864302 upstream. Enabling gfxoff quirk results in perfectly usable graphical user interface on MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019) with Radeon Pro Vega 20 4 GB. Without the quirk, X server is completely unusable as every few seconds there is gpu reset due to ring gfx timeout. 2022-04-20drm/amd/display: don't ignore alpha property on pre-multiplied modeMelissa Wen2-10/+18
commit e4f1541caf60fcbe5a59e9d25805c0b5865e546a upstream. "Pre-multiplied" is the default pixel blend mode for KMS/DRM, as documented in supported_modes of drm_plane_create_blend_mode_property(): https://cgit.freedesktop.org/drm/drm-misc/tree/drivers/gpu/drm/drm_blend.c In this mode, both 'pixel alpha' and 'plane alpha' participate in the calculation, as described by the pixel blend mode formula in KMS/DRM documentation: out.rgb = plane_alpha * fg.rgb + (1 - (plane_alpha * fg.alpha)) * bg.rgb Considering the blend config mechanisms we have in the driver so far, the alpha mode that better fits this blend mode is the _PER_PIXEL_ALPHA_COMBINED_GLOBAL_GAIN, where the value for global_gain is the plane alpha (global_alpha). With this change, alpha property stops to be ignored. It also addresses Bug: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/1734 v2: * keep the 8-bit value for global_alpha_value (Nicholas) * correct the logical ordering for combined global gain (Nicholas) * apply to dcn10 too (Nicholas) Signed-off-by: Melissa Wen <mwen@igalia.com> Tested-by: Rodrigo Siqueira <Rodrigo.Siqueira@amd.com> Reviewed-by: Harry Wentland <harry.wentland@amd.com> Tested-by: Simon Ser <contact@emersion.fr> Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com> Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2022-04-20drm/amd/display: Fix allocate_mst_payload assert on resumeRoman Li1-1/+2
[ Upstream commit f4346fb3edf7720db3f7f5e1cab1f667cd024280 ] [Why] On resume we do link detection for all non-MST connectors. MST is handled separately. However the condition for telling if connector is on mst branch is not enough for mst hub case. Link detection for mst branch link leads to mst topology reset. That causes assert in dc_link_allocate_mst_payload() [How] Use link type as indicator for mst link. [ Upstream commit 58e16c752e9540b28a873c44c3bee83e022007c1 ] [Why] In init_hw() we call init_pipes() before enabling power gating. init_pipes() tries to power gate dsc but it may fail because required force-ons are not released yet. As a result with dsc config the following errors observed on resume: "REG_WAIT timeout 1us * 1000 tries - dcn20_dsc_pg_control" "REG_WAIT timeout 1us * 1000 tries - dcn20_dpp_pg_control" "REG_WAIT timeout 1us * 1000 tries - dcn20_hubp_pg_control" [How] Move enable_power_gating_plane() before init_pipes() in init_hw() Reviewed-by: Anthony Koo <Anthony.Koo@amd.com> Reviewed-by: Eric Yang <Eric.Yang2@amd.com> Acked-by: Alex Hung <alex.hung@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Roman Li <Roman.Li@amd.com> Tested-by: Daniel Wheeler <daniel.wheeler@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org>

2022-04-08drm/amd/display: Fix a NULL pointer dereference in ↵Zhou Qingyang1-0/+3
amdgpu_dm_connector_add_common_modes() [ Upstream commit 588a70177df3b1777484267584ef38ab2ca899a2 ] In amdgpu_dm_connector_add_common_modes(), amdgpu_dm_create_common_mode() is assigned to mode and is passed to drm_mode_probed_add() directly after that. drm_mode_probed_add() passes &mode->head to list_add_tail(), and there is a dereference of it in list_add_tail() without recoveries, which could lead to NULL pointer dereference on failure of amdgpu_dm_create_common_mode(). 2022-04-08drm/edid: Split deep color modes between RGB and YUV444Maxime Ripard1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit 4adc33f36d80489339f1b43dfeee96bb9ea8e459 ] The current code assumes that the RGB444 and YUV444 formats are the same, but the HDMI 2.0 specification states that: The three DC_XXbit bits above only indicate support for RGB 4:4:4 at that pixel size. Support for YCBCR 4:4:4 in Deep Color modes is indicated with the DC_Y444 bit. If DC_Y444 is set, then YCBCR 4:4:4 is supported for all modes indicated by the DC_XXbit flags. So if we have YUV444 support and any DC_XXbit flag set but the DC_Y444 flag isn't, we'll assume that we support that deep colour mode for YUV444 which breaks the specification. In order to fix this, let's split the edid_hdmi_dc_modes field in struct drm_display_info into two fields, one for RGB444 and one for YUV444. 2022-03-16drm/amdgpu: bypass tiling flag check in virtual display case (v2)Guchun Chen1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit e2b993302f40c4eb714ecf896dd9e1c5be7d4cd7 ] vkms leverages common amdgpu framebuffer creation, and also as it does not support FB modifier, there is no need to check tiling flags when initing framebuffer when virtual display is enabled. This can fix below calltrace: amdgpu 0000:00:08.0: GFX9+ requires FB check based on format modifier WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 1023 at drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/amdgpu_display.c:1150 amdgpu_display_framebuffer_init+0x8e7/0xb40 [amdgpu] v2: check adev->enable_virtual_display instead as vkms can be enabled in bare metal as well. 2022-03-08drm/amd/display: Fix stream->link_enc unassigned during stream removalNicholas Kazlauskas1-3/+0
[ Upstream commit 3743e7f6fcb938b7d8b7967e6a9442805e269b3d ] [Why] Found when running igt@kms_atomic. Userspace attempts to do a TEST_COMMIT when 0 streams which calls dc_remove_stream_from_ctx. This in turn calls link_enc_unassign which ends up modifying stream->link = NULL directly, causing the global link_enc to be removed preventing further link activity and future link validation from passing. [How] We take care of link_enc unassignment at the start of link_enc_cfg_link_encs_assign so this call is no longer necessary. Fixes global state from being modified while unlocked. [ Upstream commit 70897848730470cc477d5d89e6222c0f6a9ac173 ] [Why] PSR currently relies on the kernel's delayed vblank on/off mechanism as an implicit bufferring mechanism to prevent excessive entry/exit. Without this delay the user experience is impacted since it can take a few frames to enter/exit. [How] Only allow vblank disable immediate for DC when psr is not supported.
