Command perf test -v 16 (Setup struct perf_event_attr test) always
reports success even if the test case fails. It works correctly if you
also specify -F (for don't fork).

Setup struct perf_event_attr: Ok
The reason for the wrong error reporting is the return value of the
system() library call. It is called in run_dir() file tests/attr.c and
returns the exit status, in above case 0xff00.
This value is given as parameter to the exit() function which can only
handle values 0-0xff.
The child process terminates with exit value of 0 and the parent does
not detect any error.
This patch corrects the error reporting and prints the correct test
result.

This way we'll be able to pass more test specific parameters without
having to change this function signature.
Will be used by the upcoming 'shell tests', shell scripts that will
call perf tools and check if they work as expected, comparing its
effects on the system (think 'perf probe foo') the output produced, etc.

We create many test events before the real ones just to test specific
features. But there's no way for attr tests to separate those test
events from those it needs to check.
Adding 'ready' call from the events open interface to trigger/start
events collection for attr test.

As it is going away from util.h, where it is not needed.
This is mostly for things like MAXPATHLEN, MAX() and MIN(), these later

Move the subcommand-related files from perf to a new library named
libsubcmd.a.
Since we're moving files anyway, go ahead and rename 'exec_cmd.*' to
'exec-cmd.*' to be consistent with the naming of all the other files.

Some tests have sub-tests we want to run, so allow passing this.
Wang tried to avoid having to touch all tests, but then, having the
test.func in an anonymous union makes the build fail on older compilers,
like the one in RHEL6, where:
test a = {
.func = foo,
};
fails.
To fix it leave the func pointer in the main structure and pass the subtest
index to all tests, end result function is the same, but we have just one
function pointer, not two, with and without the subtest index as an argument.

According to [1], 'perf test' should avoid output too much information
if '-v' is not set, only 'Ok', 'FAIL' or 'Skip' need to be printed.
This patch removes several messages sent directly to stderr to make
the output clean.
Before this patch:

We print several '__u64' quantities using '%llu'. On powerpc, we by
default include '<asm-generic/int-l64.h> which results in __u64 being an
unsigned long. This causes compile warnings which are treated as errors
due to '-Werror'.
By defining __SANE_USERSPACE_TYPES__ we include <asm-generic/int-ll64.h>
and define __u64 as unsigned long long.

Current perf test code tries to execute python version 2 in order to
test attributes on perf_event_open syscall. However it's not default
python version anymore a system can have python v3 only or v2 with a
different name (e.g. python2). So if there's no such python interpreter
with the name 'python', the test would fail like this (yes, it's
happened on my new archlinux laptop :).

As we can pass name of the python interpreter on make, use it for
the attr test also.

The test_attr infrastructure hooks on the sys_perf_event_open call,
checking if a variable is set and if so calling a function to intercept
calls and do the checking.
But both the variable and the function aren't on objects that are
linked on the python binding, breaking it:

Fix it by moving the variable to one of the linked object files and
providing a stub for the function in the python.o object, that is only
linked in the python binding.
Now 'perf test' is happy again:

As the type is global through the framework and tests, the typo spawned

The test attr suite is run only if it's run under perf source directory,
or tests are found in installed path.
Otherwise tests are omitted (notification is displayed) and finished as
successful.

The idea is run perf session with kidnapping sys_perf_event_open
function. For each sys_perf_event_open call we store the perf_event_attr
data to the file to be checked later against what we expect.
You can run this by:
$ python ./tests/attr.py -d ./tests/attr/ -p ./perf -v

- preserve errno value in the hook
