2021-12-16perf arch: Support register names from all archsGerman Gomez1-69/+0
When reading a perf.data file with register values, there is a mismatch between the names and the values of the registers because the tool is built using only the register names from the local architecture. Reading a perf.data file that was recorded on ARM64, gives the following erroneous output on an X86 machine: # perf report -i perf_arm64.data -D [...] 24661932634451 0x698 [0x21d0]: PERF_RECORD_SAMPLE(IP, 0x1): 43239/43239: 0xffffc5be8f100f98 period: 1 addr: 0 ... user regs: mask 0x1ffffffff ABI 64-bit .... 2021-03-01perf tools: Support MIPS unwinding and dwarf-regsTiezhu Yang7-0/+188
Map perf APIs (perf_reg_name/get_arch_regstr/unwind__arch_reg_id) with MIPS specific registers. [ayan@wavecomp.com: repick this patch for unwinding userstack backtrace by perf and libunwind on MIPS based CPU.] [yangtiezhu@loongson.cn: Add sample_reg_masks[] to fix build error, silence some checkpatch errors and warnings, and also separate the original patches into two parts (MIPS kernel and perf tools) to merge easily.] The original patches: https://lore.kernel.org/patchwork/patch/1126521/ https://lore.kernel.org/patchwork/patch/1126520/ Committer notes: Do it as __perf_reg_name() to cope with: 067012974c8ae31a ("perf tools: Fix arm64 build error with gcc-11") Signed-off-by: Tiezhu Yang <yangtiezhu@loongson.cn> Cc: Alexander Shishkin <alexander.shishkin@linux.intel.com> Cc: Archer Yan <ayan@wavecomp.com> Cc: David Daney <david.daney@cavium.com> Cc: Jianlin Lv <Jianlin.Lv@arm.com> Cc: Jiri Olsa <jolsa@redhat.com> Cc: Juxin Gao <gaojuxin@loongson.cn> Cc: Mark Rutland <mark.rutland@arm.com> Cc: Namhyung Kim <namhyung@kernel.org> Cc: Peter Zijlstra <peterz@infradead.org> Cc: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org> Cc: Xuefeng Li <lixuefeng@loongson.cn> Cc: Thomas Bogendoerfer <tsbogend@alpha.franken.de> Cc: linux-mips@vger.kernel.org Link: http://lore.kernel.org/lkml/1612409724-3516-3-git-send-email-yangtiezhu@loongson.cn Signed-off-by: Archer Yan <ayan@wavecomp.com> Signed-off-by: David Daney <david.daney@cavium.com> Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo <acme@redhat.com>
2020-11-04perf annotate mips: Add perf arch instructions annotate handlersDengcheng Zhu2-1/+47
Support the MIPS architecture using the ins_ops association method. With this patch, perf-annotate can work well on MIPS. Testing it with a perf.data file collected on a mips machine: $./perf annotate -i perf.data : Disassembly of section .text: : : 00000000000be6a0 <get_next_seq>: : get_next_seq(): 0.00 : be6a0: lw v0,0(a0) 0.00 : be6a4: daddiu sp,sp,-128 0.00 : be6a8: ld a7,72(a0) 0.00 : be6ac: gssq s5,s4,80(sp) 0.00 : be6b0: gssq s1,s0,48(sp) 0.00 : be6b4: gssq s8,gp,112(sp) 0.00 : be6b8: gssq s7,s6,96(sp) 0.00 : be6bc: gssq s3,s2,64(sp) 0.00 : be6c0: sd a3,0(sp) 0.00 : be6c4: move s0,a0 0.00 : be6c8: sd v0,32(sp) 0.00 : be6cc: sd a5,8(sp) 0.00 : be6d0: sd zero,8(a0) 0.00 : be6d4: sd a6,16(sp) 0.00 : be6d8: ld s2,48(a0) 8.53 : be6dc: ld s1,40(a0) 9.42 : be6e0: ld v1,32(a0) 0.00 : be6e4: nop 0.00 : be6e8: ld s4,24(a0) 0.00 : be6ec: ld s5,16(a0) 0.00 : be6f0: sd a7,40(sp) 10.11 : be6f4: ld s6,64(a0) ... 2015-08-06perf tools: Add empty Build files for architectures lacking themBen Hutchings1-0/+1
perf currently fails to build on MIPS as there is no tools/perf/arch/mips/Build file. Adding an empty file fixes this as there are no MIPS-specific sources to build. It looks like the same is needed for Alpha and PA-RISC, though I haven't been able to test those.
