2021-12-22mac80211: fix lookup when adding AddBA extension elementJohannes Berg1-2/+3
[ Upstream commit 511ab0c1dfb260a6b17b8771109e8d63474473a7 ] We should be doing the HE capabilities lookup based on the full interface type so if P2P doesn't have HE but client has it doesn't get confused. Fix that. 2021-12-22mac80211: agg-tx: don't schedule_and_wake_txq() under sta->lockJohannes Berg1-2/+8
[ Upstream commit 06c41bda0ea14aa7fba932a9613c4ee239682cf0 ] When we call ieee80211_agg_start_txq(), that will in turn call schedule_and_wake_txq(). Called from ieee80211_stop_tx_ba_cb() this is done under sta->lock, which leads to certain circular lock dependencies, as reported by Chris Murphy: https://lore.kernel.org/r/CAJCQCtSXJ5qA4bqSPY=oLRMbv-irihVvP7A2uGutEbXQVkoNaw@mail.gmail.com In general, ieee80211_agg_start_txq() is usually not called with sta->lock held, only in this one place. But it's always called with sta->ampdu_mlme.mtx held, and that's therefore clearly sufficient. Change ieee80211_stop_tx_ba_cb() to also call it without the sta->lock held, by factoring it out of ieee80211_remove_tid_tx() (which is only called in this one place). This breaks the locking chain and makes it less likely that we'll have similar locking chain problems in the future. 2021-12-22mac80211: track only QoS data frames for admission controlJohannes Berg1-3/+10
[ Upstream commit d5e568c3a4ec2ddd23e7dc5ad5b0c64e4f22981a ] For admission control, obviously all of that only works for QoS data frames, otherwise we cannot even access the QoS field in the header. Syzbot reported (see below) an uninitialized value here due to a status of a non-QoS nullfunc packet, which isn't even long enough to contain the QoS header. Fix this to only do anything for QoS data packets. 2021-12-22mac80211: send ADDBA requests using the tid/queue of the aggregation sessionFelix Fietkau1-1/+1
commit 1fe98f5690c4219d419ea9cc190f94b3401cf324 upstream. Sending them out on a different queue can cause a race condition where a number of packets in the queue may be discarded by the receiver, because the ADDBA request is sent too early. This affects any driver with software A-MPDU setup which does not allocate packet seqno in hardware on tx, regardless of whether iTXQ is used or not. The only driver I've seen that explicitly deals with this issue internally is mwl8k. 2021-12-22mac80211: mark TX-during-stop for TX in in_reconfigJohannes Berg1-1/+4
commit db7205af049d230e7e0abf61c1e74c1aab40f390 upstream. Mark TXQs as having seen transmit while they were stopped if we bail out of drv_wake_tx_queue() due to reconfig, so that the queue wake after this will make them catch up. This is particularly necessary for when TXQs are used for management packets since those TXQs won't see a lot of traffic that'd make them catch up later. 2021-12-22mac80211: fix regression in SSN handling of addba txFelix Fietkau2-2/+3
commit 73111efacd3c6d9e644acca1d132566932be8af0 upstream. Some drivers that do their own sequence number allocation (e.g. ath9k) rely on being able to modify params->ssn on starting tx ampdu sessions. This was broken by a change that modified it to use sta->tid_seq[tid] instead. 2021-11-25mac80211: drop check for DONT_REORDER in __ieee80211_select_queueFelix Fietkau1-2/+1
commit f6ab25d41b18f3d26883cb9c20875e1a85c4f05b upstream. When __ieee80211_select_queue is called, skb->cb has not been cleared yet, which means that info->control.flags can contain garbage. In some cases this leads to IEEE80211_TX_CTRL_DONT_REORDER being set, causing packets marked for other queues to randomly end up in BE instead. This flag only needs to be checked in ieee80211_select_queue_80211, since the radiotap parser is the only piece of code that sets it Fixes: 66d06c84730c ("mac80211: adhere to Tx control flag that prevents frame reordering") Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Felix Fietkau <nbd@nbd.name> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20211110212201.35452-1-nbd@nbd.name Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2021-11-25mac80211: fix radiotap header generationJohannes Berg1-1/+1
commit c033a38a81bc539d6c0db8c5387e0b14d819a0cf upstream. In commit 8c89f7b3d3f2 ("mac80211: Use flex-array for radiotap header bitmap") we accidentally pointed the position to the wrong place, so we overwrite a present bitmap, and thus cause all kinds of trouble. To see the issue, note that the previous code read: pos = (void *)(it_present + 1); The requirement now is that we need to calculate pos via it_optional, to not trigger the compiler hardening checks, as: pos = (void *)&rthdr->it_optional[...]; Rewriting the original expression, we get (obviously, since that just adds "+ x - x" terms): pos = (void *)(it_present + 1 + rthdr->it_optional - rthdr->it_optional) and moving the "+ rthdr->it_optional" outside to be used as an array: pos = (void *)&rthdr->it_optional[it_present + 1 - rthdr->it_optional]; The original is off by one, fix it. 2021-11-25mac80211: fix monitor_sdata RCU/locking assertionsJohannes Berg3-8/+15
[ Upstream commit 6dd2360334f3cb3b45fc1b8194c670090474b87c ] Since commit a05829a7222e ("cfg80211: avoid holding the RTNL when calling the driver") we've not only been protecting the pointer to monitor_sdata with the RTNL, but also with the wiphy->mtx. This is relevant in a number of lockdep assertions, e.g. the one we hit in ieee80211_set_monitor_channel(). However, we're now protecting all the assignments/dereferences, even the one in interface iter, with the wiphy->mtx, so switch over the lockdep assertions to that lock. 2021-09-27mac80211: fix use-after-free in CCMP/GCMP RXJohannes Berg1-0/+6
When PN checking is done in mac80211, for fragmentation we need to copy the PN to the RX struct so we can later use it to do a comparison, since commit bf30ca922a0c ("mac80211: check defrag PN against current frame"). Unfortunately, in that commit I used the 'hdr' variable without it being necessarily valid, so use-after-free could occur if it was necessary to reallocate (parts of) the frame. Fix this by reloading the variable after the code that results in the reallocations, if any. This fixes https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=214401. 2021-09-23Revert "mac80211: do not use low data rates for data frames with no ack flag"Felix Fietkau1-4/+0
This reverts commit d333322361e7 ("mac80211: do not use low data rates for data frames with no ack flag"). Returning false early in rate_control_send_low breaks sending broadcast packets, since rate control will not select a rate for it. Before re-introducing a fixed version of this patch, we should probably also make some changes to rate control to be more conservative in selecting rates for no-ack packets and also prevent using probing rates on them, since we won't get any feedback. 2021-08-24mac80211: introduce individual TWT support in AP modeLorenzo Bianconi7-2/+418
Introduce TWT action frames parsing support to mac80211. Currently just individual TWT agreement are support in AP mode. Whenever the AP receives a TWT action frame from an associated client, after performing sanity checks, it will notify the underlay driver with requested parameters in order to check if they are supported and if there is enough room for a new agreement. The driver is expected to set the agreement result and report it to mac80211. Drivers supporting this have two new callbacks: - add_twt_setup (mandatory) - twt_teardown_request (optional) mac80211 will send an action frame reply according to the result reported by the driver. In preparation for FORTIFY_SOURCE performing compile-time and run-time field bounds checking for memcpy(), memmove(), and memset(), avoid intentionally writing across neighboring fields. The it_present member of struct ieee80211_radiotap_header is treated as a flexible array (multiple u32s can be conditionally present). In order for memcpy() to reason (or really, not reason) about the size of operations against this struct, use of bytes beyond it_present need to be treated as part of the flexible array. 2021-08-13mac80211: Fix monitor MTU limit so that A-MSDUs get throughJohan Almbladh1-2/+9
The maximum MTU was set to 2304, which is the maximum MSDU size. While this is valid for normal WLAN interfaces, it is too low for monitor interfaces. A monitor interface may receive and inject MPDU frames, and the maximum MPDU frame size is larger than 2304. The MPDU may also contain an A-MSDU frame, in which case the size may be much larger than the MTU limit. Since the maximum size of an A-MSDU depends on the PHY mode of the transmitting STA, it is not possible to set an exact MTU limit for a monitor interface. Now the maximum MTU for a monitor interface is unrestricted. 2021-07-23mac80211: Do not strip skb headroom on monitor framesJohan Almbladh1-1/+2
When a monitor interface is present together with other interfaces, a received skb is copied and received on the monitor netdev. Before, the copied skb was allocated with exactly the amount of space needed for the radiotap header, resulting in an skb without any headroom at all being received on the monitor netdev. With the introduction of eBPF and XDP in the kernel, skbs may be processed by custom eBPF programs. However, since the skb cannot be reallocated in the eBPF program, no more data or headers can be pushed. The old code made sure the final headroom was zero regardless of the value of NET_SKB_PAD, so increasing that constant would have no effect. Now we allocate monitor skb copies with a headroom of NET_SKB_PAD bytes before the radiotap header. Monitor interfaces now behave in the same way as other netdev interfaces that honor the NET_SKB_PAD constant. 2021-06-23mac80211: Switch to a virtual time-based airtime schedulerToke Høiland-Jørgensen12-176/+650
This switches the airtime scheduler in mac80211 to use a virtual time-based scheduler instead of the round-robin scheduler used before. This has a couple of advantages: - No need to sync up the round-robin scheduler in firmware/hardware with the round-robin airtime scheduler. - If several stations are eligible for transmission we can schedule both of them; no need to hard-block the scheduling rotation until the head of the queue has used up its quantum. - The check of whether a station is eligible for transmission becomes simpler (in ieee80211_txq_may_transmit()). The drawback is that scheduling becomes slightly more expensive, as we need to maintain an rbtree of TXQs sorted by virtual time. This means that ieee80211_register_airtime() becomes O(logN) in the number of currently scheduled TXQs because it can change the order of the scheduled stations. We mitigate this overhead by only resorting when a station changes position in the tree, and hopefully N rarely grows too big (it's only TXQs currently backlogged, not all associated stations), so it shouldn't be too big of an issue. To prevent divisions in the fast path, we maintain both station sums and pre-computed reciprocals of the sums. This turns the fast-path operation into a multiplication, with divisions only happening as the number of active stations change (to re-compute the current sum of all active station weights). To prevent this re-computation of the reciprocal from happening too frequently, we use a time-based notion of station activity, instead of updating the weight every time a station gets scheduled or de-scheduled. As queues can oscillate between empty and occupied quite frequently, this can significantly cut down on the number of re-computations. It also has the added benefit of making the station airtime calculation independent on whether the queue happened to have drained at the time an airtime value was accounted.
