All logical processors with APIC ID values of 255 and greater will have their APIC reported through Processor X2APIC structure (type-9 entry type) and all logical processors with APIC ID less than 255 will have their APIC reported through legacy Processor Local APIC (type-0 entry type) only. This is the same case even for NMI structure reporting. The Processor X2APIC Affinity structure provides the association between the X2APIC ID of a logical processor and the proximity domain to which the logical processor belongs. For OSPM, Procssor IDs outside the 0-254 range are to be declared as Device() objects in the ACPI namespace. Intel graphics hardware that implements the ACPI IGD OpRegion spec requires that the list of display devices be populated before any ACPI video methods are called. Detect when this is the case and defer registration until the opregion code calls it. 2009-03-27thermal: support forcing support for passive coolingMatthew Garrett1-0/+1
Due to poor thermal design or Linux driving hardware outside its thermal envelope, some systems will reach critical temperature and shut down under high load. This patch adds support for forcing a polling-based passive trip point if the firmware doesn't provide one. The assumption is made that the processor is the most practical means to reduce the dynamic heat generation, so hitting the passive thermal limit will cause the CPU to be throttled until the temperature stabalises around the defined value. UI is provided via a "passive" sysfs entry in the thermal zone directory. It accepts a decimal value in millidegrees celsius, or "0" to disable the functionality. Removed locking for reads from the ACPI bit registers in PM1 Status, Enable, Control, and PM2 Control. The lock is not required when reading the single-bit registers. The acpi_get_register_unlocked function is no longer needed and has been removed. This will improve performance for reads on these registers. Now return AE_BAD_PARAMETER if the input register pointer is null, and AE_BAD_ADDRESS if the register has an address of zero. Previously, these cases simply returned AE_OK. For optional registers such as PM1B status/enable/control, the caller should check for a valid register address before calling. Comparing the layouts of struct detail_pixel_timing with x.org's struct detailed_timings and how those are handled, it appears that the hsync_positive and vsync_positive fields are backwards. This patch fixes https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20019 for me. It was tested on 2 monitors, LG FLATRON L225WS 22" and a YAKUMO 17" for which more details are unknown.
