Refactor the USB init code patch to handle the Amlogic GXL/GXM needing to initialize the OTG port as Peripheral mode for the DWC2 IP to probe correctly. A secondary, post_init callback is added to setup the OTG PHY mode after powering up the PHYs and before probing the DWC2 and DWC3 controllers. If there are still pending requests because no TRB was available, prepare more when started requests are completed. Introduce dwc3_gadget_ep_should_continue() to check for incomplete and pending requests to resume updating new TRBs to the controller's TRB cache. 2020-05-09dwc3: Remove check for HWO flag in dwc3_gadget_ep_reclaim_trb_sg()John Stultz1-3/+0
The check for the HWO flag in dwc3_gadget_ep_reclaim_trb_sg() causes us to break out of the loop before we call dwc3_gadget_ep_reclaim_completed_trb(), which is what likely should be clearing the HWO flag. This can cause odd behavior where we never reclaim all the trbs in the sg list, so we never call giveback on a usb req, and that will causes transfer stalls. This effectively resovles the adb stalls seen on HiKey960 after userland changes started only using AIO in adbd. 2020-05-05usb: dwc3: gadget: WARN on no-resource statusThinh Nguyen1-0/+2
If the driver issued START_TRANSFER and received a no-resource status, then generally there are a few reasons for this: 1) The driver did not allocate resource for the endpoint during power-on-reset initialization. 2) The transfer resource was reset. At this moment, we don't do this in the driver, but it occurs when the driver issues START_CONFIG cmd to ep0 with resource index=2. 3) The driver issues the START_TRANSFER command to an already started endpoint. Usually, this is because the END_TRANSFER command hasn't completed yet. Print out a warning to help debug this issue in the driver. If dwc3 fails to issue START_TRANSFER/UPDATE_TRANSFER command, then we should properly end an active transfer and give back all the started requests. However if it's for an isoc endpoint, the failure maybe due to bus-expiry status. In this case, don't give back the requests and wait for the next retry. On the Amlogic GXL/GXM SoCs, only the USB control registers are available, the PHY mode being handled in the PHY registers. Thus, handle the PHY mode registers in separate regmaps and prepare support for Amlogic GXL/GXM SoCs by moving the regmap setup in a callback set in the SoC match data. Remove 2 unnecessary checks: 1) A request in the started_list must have its trb field set. So checking for req->trb is unnecessary. 2) An endpoint must have started (and have not ended) for the request to still be in the started_list. There's no point to check if the endpoint is started. We had this check because previously the driver didn't handle the endpoint's started/ended flags for END_TRANSFER command properly. 2020-05-05usb: dwc3: gadget: Give back staled requestsThinh Nguyen1-1/+14
If a request is dequeued, the transfer is cancelled. Give back all the started requests. In most scenarios, the function driver dequeues all requests of a transfer when there's a failure. If the function driver follows this, then it's fine. If not, then we'd be skipping TRBs at different points within the dequeue and enqueue pointers, making dequeue/enqueue pointers useless. To enforce and make sure that we're properly skipping TRBs, cancel all the started requests and give back all the cancelled requests to the function drivers. DWC3 must not issue CLEAR_STALL command to control endpoints. The controller automatically clears the STALL when it receives the SETUP token. Also, when the driver receives ClearFeature(halt_ep), DWC3 must stop any active transfer from the endpoint and give back all the requests to the function drivers. 2020-04-17usb: dwc3: gadget: Fix request completion checkThinh Nguyen1-10/+2
A request may not be completed because not all the TRBs are prepared for it. This happens when we run out of available TRBs. When some TRBs are completed, the driver needs to prepare the rest of the TRBs for the request. The check dwc3_gadget_ep_request_completed() shouldn't be checking the amount of data received but rather the number of pending TRBs. Revise this request completion check. 2020-04-16usb: dwc3: gadget: Properly set maxpacket limitThinh Nguyen2-11/+45
Currently the calculation of max packet size limit for IN endpoints is too restrictive. This prevents a matching of a capable hardware endpoint during configuration. Below is the minimum recommended HW configuration to support a particular endpoint setup from the databook: For OUT endpoints, the databook recommended the minimum RxFIFO size to be at least 3x MaxPacketSize + 3x setup packets size (8 bytes each) + clock crossing margin (16 bytes). For IN endpoints, the databook recommended the minimum TxFIFO size to be at least 3x MaxPacketSize for endpoints that support burst. If the endpoint doesn't support burst or when the device is operating in USB 2.0 mode, a minimum TxFIFO size of 2x MaxPacketSize is recommended. Base on these recommendations, we can calculate the MaxPacketSize limit of each endpoint. This patch revises the IN endpoint MaxPacketSize limit and also sets the MaxPacketSize limit for OUT endpoints. The dwc3 core binding specifies one reset. However some variants of the hardware may have more. Previously this was handled by using the dwc3-of-simple glue driver, but that resulted in a proliferation of bindings for for every variant, when the only difference was the clocks and resets lists. So this patch reworks the reading of the resets to fetch all the resets specified in the dts together. This patch was recommended by Rob Herring <robh@kernel.org> as an alternative to creating multiple bindings for each variant of hardware. In certain circumstances, the XHCI SuperSpeed instance in park mode can fail to recover, thus on Amlogic G12A/G12B/SM1 SoCs when there is high load on the single XHCI SuperSpeed instance, the controller can crash like: xhci-hcd xhci-hcd.0.auto: xHCI host not responding to stop endpoint command. xhci-hcd xhci-hcd.0.auto: Host halt failed, -110 xhci-hcd xhci-hcd.0.auto: xHCI host controller not responding, assume dead xhci-hcd xhci-hcd.0.auto: xHCI host not responding to stop endpoint command. hub 2-1.1:1.0: hub_ext_port_status failed (err = -22) xhci-hcd xhci-hcd.0.auto: HC died; cleaning up usb 2-1.1-port1: cannot reset (err = -22) Setting the PARKMODE_DISABLE_SS bit in the DWC3_USB3_GUCTL1 mitigates the issue. The bit is described as : "When this bit is set to '1' all SS bus instances in park mode are disabled" Synopsys explains: The GUCTL1.PARKMODE_DISABLE_SS is only available in dwc_usb3 controller running in host mode. This should not be set for other IPs. This can be disabled by default based on IP, but I recommend to have a property to enable this feature for devices that need this. 2020-03-04usb: dwc3: gadget: Update chain bit correctly when using sg listPratham Pratap1-1/+8
If scatter-gather operation is allowed, a large USB request is split into multiple TRBs. For preparing TRBs for sg list, driver iterates over the list and creates TRB for each sg and mark the chain bit to false for the last sg. The current IOMMU driver is clubbing the list of sgs which shares a page boundary into one and giving it to USB driver. With this the number of sgs mapped it not equal to the the number of sgs passed. Because of this USB driver is not marking the chain bit to false since it couldn't iterate to the last sg. This patch addresses this issue by marking the chain bit to false if it is the last mapped sg. At a practical level, this patch resolves USB transfer stalls seen with adb on dwc3 based db845c, pixel3 and other qcom hardware after functionfs gadget added scatter-gather support around v4.20. 2020-02-11usb: dwc3: gadget: Check for IOC/LST bit in TRB->ctrl fieldsAnurag Kumar Vulisha1-1/+2
The current code in dwc3_gadget_ep_reclaim_completed_trb() will check for IOC/LST bit in the event->status and returns if IOC/LST bit is set. This logic doesn't work if multiple TRBs are queued per request and the IOC/LST bit is set on the last TRB of that request. Consider an example where a queued request has multiple queued TRBs and IOC/LST bit is set only for the last TRB. In this case, the core generates XferComplete/XferInProgress events only for the last TRB (since IOC/LST are set only for the last TRB). As per the logic in dwc3_gadget_ep_reclaim_completed_trb() event->status is checked for IOC/LST bit and returns on the first TRB. This leaves the remaining TRBs left unhandled. Similarly, if the gadget function enqueues an unaligned request with sglist already in it, it should fail the same way, since we will append another TRB to something that already uses more than one TRB. To aviod this, this patch changes the code to check for IOC/LST bits in TRB->ctrl instead. At a practical level, this patch resolves USB transfer stalls seen with adb on dwc3 based HiKey960 after functionfs gadget added scatter-gather support around v4.20.
