Rationale: Reduces attack surface on kernel devs opening the links for MITM as HTTPS traffic is much harder to manipulate. Deterministic algorithm: For each file: If not .svg: For each line: If doesn't contain `\bxmlns\b`: For each link, `\bhttp://[^# \t\r\n]*(?:\w|/)`: If neither `\bgnu\.org/license`, nor `\bmozilla\.org/MPL\b`: If both the HTTP and HTTPS versions return 200 OK and serve the same content: Replace HTTP with HTTPS. Now that the SPDX tag is in all tty files, that identifies the license in a specific and legally-defined manner. So the extra GPL text wording can be removed as it is no longer needed at all. This is done on a quest to remove the 700+ different ways that files in the kernel describe the GPL license text. And there's unneeded stuff like the address (sometimes incorrect) for the FSF which is never needed. No copyright headers or other non-license-description text was removed. 2017-11-08tty: add SPDX identifiers to all remaining files in drivers/tty/Greg Kroah-Hartman1-0/+1
It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to audit the kernel tree for correct licenses. Update the drivers/tty files files with the correct SPDX license identifier based on the license text in the file itself. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. 2017-03-17uartlite: Adding a kernel parameter for the number of uartlitesSam Povilus1-1/+1
The number of uartlites should be set by a kernel parameter instead of using a #define. This allows the user to set the number of uartlites using only kconfig and not modifying kernel source. The uartlite is used by FPGAs that support a basically unlimited number of uarts so limiting it at 16 dosn't make sense as users might need more than that. 2015-04-28serial: xilinx: Use platform_get_irq to get irq description structureMichal Simek1-5/+6
For systems with CONFIG_SERIAL_OF_PLATFORM=y and device_type = "serial"; property in DT of_serial.c driver maps and unmaps IRQ (because driver probe fails). Then a driver is called but irq mapping is not created that's why driver is failing again in again on request_irq(). Based on this use platform_get_irq() instead of platform_get_resource() which is doing irq_desc allocation and driver itself can request IRQ. Fix both xilinx serial drivers in the tree. Now, we start converting tty buffer functions to actually use tty_port. This will allow us to get rid of the need of tty in many call sites. Only tty_port will needed and hence no more tty_port_tty_get in those paths. Now, the one where most of tty_port_tty_get gets removed: tty_flip_buffer_push. IOW we also closed all the races in drivers not using tty_port_tty_get at all yet. Also we move tty_flip_buffer_push declaration from include/linux/tty.h to include/linux/tty_flip.h to all others while we are changing it anyway.
