When ARCH=x86, make allmodconfig && make W=1 C=1 reports:
WARNING: modpost: missing MODULE_DESCRIPTION() in drivers/pinctrl/bcm/pinctrl-bcm4908.o
WARNING: modpost: missing MODULE_DESCRIPTION() in drivers/pinctrl/pinctrl-mcp23s08_i2c.o
WARNING: modpost: missing MODULE_DESCRIPTION() in drivers/pinctrl/pinctrl-mcp23s08_spi.o
WARNING: modpost: missing MODULE_DESCRIPTION() in drivers/pinctrl/pinctrl-mcp23s08.o
WARNING: modpost: missing MODULE_DESCRIPTION() in drivers/pinctrl/meson/pinctrl-meson.o
Add the missing invocation of the MODULE_DESCRIPTION() macro to all
files which have a MODULE_LICENSE().
This includes many meson drivers which, although they did not produce
a warning with the x86 allmodconfig configuration, may cause this
warning with ARM or ARM64 configurations.

Add struct mcp23s08_info and simplify probe()/mcp23s08_spi_regmap_init() by
replacing match data 'type' with 'struct mcp23s08_info'.
While at it, replace 'dev_err()'->'dev_err_probe()' and drop printing
'type' in error path for i2c_get_match_data().

Simpilfy probe() by replacing device_get_match_data() and ID lookup for
retrieving match data by spi_get_device_match_data().
While at it, replace data type of variable type from 'int'->'unsigned int'
and declare variables following a reverse christmas tree order.

devm_kasprintf() returns a pointer to dynamically allocated memory.
Pointer could be NULL in case allocation fails. Check pointer validity.
Identified with coccinelle (kmerr.cocci script).

It is useful for debugging to have the error message printed
when regmap initialisation fails. Add it to the driver.

It appears that simplification of mcp23s08_spi_regmap_init() made
a regression due to wrong size calculation for dev_kmemdup() call.
It misses the fact that config variable is already a pointer, thus
the sizeof() calculation is wrong and only 4 or 8 bytes were copied.
Fix the parameters to devm_kmemdup() to copy a full chunk of memory.
