2022-05-01net: phy: Add 10BASE-T1L support in phy-c45Alexandru Tachici2-5/+253
This patch is needed because the BASE-T1 uses different registers for status, control and advertisement to those already employed in the existing phy-c45 functions. Where required, genphy_c45 functions will now check whether the device supports BASE-T1 and use the specific registers instead: 45.2.7.19 BASE-T1 AN control register, 45.2.7.20 BASE-T1 AN status, 45.2.7.21 BASE-T1 AN advertisement register, 45.2.7.22 BASE-T1 AN LP Base Page ability register, 45.2.1.185 BASE-T1 PMA/PMD control register. 2022-05-01net: phy: marvell: update abilities and advertising when switching to SGMIIRobert Hancock1-1/+15
With some SFP modules, such as Finisar FCLF8522P2BTL, the PHY hardware strapping defaults to 1000BaseX mode, but the kernel prefers to set them for SGMII mode. When this happens and the PHY is soft reset, the BMSR status register is updated, but this happens after the kernel has already read the PHY abilities during probing. This results in support not being detected for, and the PHY not advertising support for, 10 and 100 Mbps modes, preventing the link from working with a non-gigabit link partner. When the PHY is being configured for SGMII mode, call genphy_read_abilities again in order to re-read the capabilities, and update the advertising field accordingly. 2022-04-30net: phy: micrel: add coma mode GPIOMichael Walle1-0/+20
The LAN8814 has a coma mode pin which puts the PHY into isolate and power-dowm mode. Unfortunately, the mode cannot be disabled by a register. Usually, the input pin has a pull-up and connected to a GPIO which can then be used to disable the mode. Try to get the GPIO and deassert it. 2022-04-30net: phy: micrel: move the PHY timestamping checkMichael Walle1-4/+8
Both lan8814_ptp_init() and lan8814_ptp_probe_once() are only used if PTP and PHY timestamping is enabed. Up until now the probe function just returns early, if they are not needed. But we need the phy_package_init_once() functionality for the coma mode GPIO setup. Move the check into the functions itself. 2022-04-29net: phy: Deduplicate interrupt disablement on PHY attachLukas Wunner1-4/+2
phy_attach_direct() first calls phy_init_hw() (which restores interrupt settings through ->config_intr()), then calls phy_disable_interrupts(). So if phydev->interrupts was previously set to 1, interrupts are briefly enabled, then disabled, which seems nonsensical. If it was previously set to 0, interrupts are disabled twice, which is equally nonsensical. Deduplicate interrupt disablement. 2022-03-26net: phy: broadcom: Fix brcm_fet_config_init()Florian Fainelli1-0/+21
A Broadcom AC201 PHY (same entry as 5241) would be flagged by the Broadcom UniMAC MDIO controller as not completing the turn around properly since the PHY expects 65 MDC clock cycles to complete a write cycle, and the MDIO controller was only sending 64 MDC clock cycles as determined by looking at a scope shot. This would make the subsequent read fail with the UniMAC MDIO controller command field having MDIO_READ_FAIL set and we would abort the brcm_fet_config_init() function and thus not probe the PHY at all. After issuing a software reset, wait for at least 1ms which is well above the 1us reset delay advertised by the datasheet and issue a dummy read to let the PHY turn around the line properly. This read specifically ignores -EIO which would be returned by MDIO controllers checking for the line being turned around. If we have a genuine reaad failure, the next read of the interrupt status register would pick it up anyway. 2022-03-05net: phy: meson-gxl: fix interrupt handling in forced modeHeiner Kallweit1-10/+13
This PHY doesn't support a link-up interrupt source. If aneg is enabled we use the "aneg complete" interrupt for this purpose, but if aneg is disabled link-up isn't signaled currently. According to a vendor driver there's an additional "energy detect" interrupt source that can be used to signal link-up if aneg is disabled. We can safely ignore this interrupt source if aneg is enabled. This patch was tested on a TX3 Mini TV box with S905W (even though boot message says it's a S905D). This issue has been existing longer, but due to changes in phylib and the driver the patch applies only from the commit marked as fixed. 2022-03-04net: phy: added the LAN937x phy supportArun Ramadoss1-1/+54
LAN937x T1 switch is based on LAN87xx Phy, so reusing the init script of the LAN87xx. There is a workaround in accessing the DSP bank register for LAN937x Phy. Whenever there is a bank switch to DSP registers, then we need a one dummy read access before proceeding to the actual register access. 2022-03-04net: phy: updated the initialization routine for LAN87xxArun Ramadoss1-42/+175
The new initialization sequence is the improvement to the existing init routine. Init routine does soft reset, run init script and set Hw_init.
