2022-06-24net: phy: Add support for 1PPS out and external timestampsJonathan Lemon1-0/+226
The perout function is used to generate a 1PPS signal, synchronized to the PHC. This is accomplished by a using the hardware oneshot functionality, which is reset by a timer. The external timestamp function is set up for a 1PPS input pulse, and uses a timer to poll for temestamps. Both functions use the SYNC_OUT/SYNC_IN1 pin, so cannot run simultaneously. Add 'struct bcm_ptp_private' to bcm54xx_phy_priv which points to an optional PTP structure attached to the PHY. This is allocated on probe if PHY PTP support is configured, and if the driver supports PTP for the specified PHY. Add the bcm_ptp_probe(), bcm_ptp_config_init() and bcn_ptp_stop() API functions to the bcm-phy library. 2022-06-22net: phy: smsc: Disable Energy Detect Power-Down in interrupt modeLukas Wunner1-2/+4
Simon reports that if two LAN9514 USB adapters are directly connected without an intermediate switch, the link fails to come up and link LEDs remain dark. The issue was introduced by commit 1ce8b37241ed ("usbnet: smsc95xx: Forward PHY interrupts to PHY driver to avoid polling"). The PHY suffers from a known erratum wherein link detection becomes unreliable if Energy Detect Power-Down is used. In poll mode, the driver works around the erratum by briefly disabling EDPD for 640 msec to detect a neighbor, then re-enabling it to save power. In interrupt mode, no interrupt is signaled if EDPD is used by both link partners, so it must not be enabled at all. We'll recoup the power savings by enabling SUSPEND1 mode on affected LAN95xx chips in a forthcoming commit. 2022-06-22net: phy: smsc: Deduplicate interrupt acknowledgement upon phy_init_hw()Lukas Wunner1-12/+1
Since commit 4c0d2e96ba05 ("net: phy: consider that suspend2ram may cut off PHY power"), phy_init_hw() invokes both, the ->config_init() and ->config_intr() callbacks. In the SMSC PHY driver, the latter acknowledges stale interrupts, hence there's no longer a need to acknowledge them in the former as well. There are no other callers of ->config_init() besides phy_init_hw(). Drop the redundant code. We have a board where measurements indicate that the current three options - leaving IO_IMPEDANCE_CTRL at the (factory calibrated) reset value or using one of the two boolean properties to set it to the min/max value - are too coarse. Implement support for the newly added binding allowing device tree to specify an nvmem cell containing an appropriate value for this specific board. 2022-06-17phy: aquantia: Fix AN when higher speeds than 1G are not advertisedClaudiu Manoil1-1/+14
Even when the eth port is resticted to work with speeds not higher than 1G, and so the eth driver is requesting the phy (via phylink) to advertise up to 1000BASET support, the aquantia phy device is still advertising for 2.5G and 5G speeds. There's no point probing for phys on this artificial bus, so we can save a little bit of boot time by telling mdiobus_register() not to do that. This doesn't have any functional change, since, at this point, fixed_mdio_read() returns 0xffff for all addresses/registers, so mdiobus_scan() -> get_phy_device() -> get_phy_c22_id() will return -ENODEV, which is just ignored. 2022-06-08net: mdio: unexport __init-annotated mdio_bus_init()Masahiro Yamada1-1/+0
EXPORT_SYMBOL and __init is a bad combination because the .init.text section is freed up after the initialization. Hence, modules cannot use symbols annotated __init. The access to a freed symbol may end up with kernel panic. modpost used to detect it, but it has been broken for a decade. Recently, I fixed modpost so it started to warn it again, then this showed up in linux-next builds. There are two ways to fix it: - Remove __init - Remove EXPORT_SYMBOL I chose the latter for this case because the only in-tree call-site, drivers/net/phy/phy_device.c is never compiled as modular. 2022-06-06net: phy: dp83867: retrigger SGMII AN when link changeTan Tee Min1-0/+29
There is a limitation in TI DP83867 PHY device where SGMII AN is only triggered once after the device is booted up. Even after the PHY TPI is down and up again, SGMII AN is not triggered and hence no new in-band message from PHY to MAC side SGMII. This could cause an issue during power up, when PHY is up prior to MAC. At this condition, once MAC side SGMII is up, MAC side SGMII wouldn`t receive new in-band message from TI PHY with correct link status, speed and duplex info. As suggested by TI, implemented a SW solution here to retrigger SGMII Auto-Neg whenever there is a link change. v2: Add Fixes tag in commit message. 2022-05-31net: phy: at803x: disable WOL at probeViorel Suman1-11/+22
Before 7beecaf7d507b ("net: phy: at803x: improve the WOL feature") patch "at803x_get_wol" implementation used AT803X_INTR_ENABLE_WOL value to set WAKE_MAGIC flag, and now AT803X_WOL_EN value is used for the same purpose. The problem here is that the values of these two bits are different after hardware reset: AT803X_INTR_ENABLE_WOL=0 after hardware reset, but AT803X_WOL_EN=1. So now, if called right after boot, "at803x_get_wol" will set WAKE_MAGIC flag, even if WOL function is not enabled by calling "at803x_set_wol" function. The patch disables WOL function on probe thus the behavior is consistent. 2022-05-19net: phy: adin: add support for clock outputJosua Mayer1-0/+40
The ADIN1300 supports generating certain clocks on its GP_CLK pin, as well as providing the reference clock on CLK25_REF. Add support for selecting the clock via device-tree properties. Technically the phy also supports a recovered 125MHz clock for synchronous ethernet. SyncE should be configured dynamically at runtime, however Linux does not currently have a toggle for this, so support is explicitly omitted. 2022-05-17net: phy: marvell: Add errata section 5.1 for Alaska PHYLeszek Polak1-0/+37
As per Errata Section 5.1, if EEE is intended to be used, some register writes must be done once after every hardware reset. This patch now adds the necessary register writes as listed in the Marvell errata. Without this fix we experience ethernet problems on some of our boards equipped with a new version of this ethernet PHY (different supplier). The fix applies to Marvell Alaska 88E1510/88E1518/88E1512/88E1514 Rev. A0. If reading the Interrupt Source Flag register fails with -ENODEV, then the PHY has been hot-removed and the correct response is to bail out instead of throwing a WARN splat and attempting to suspend the PHY. The PHY should be stopped in due course anyway as the kernel asynchronously tears down the device. 2022-05-13net: phy: smsc: Cache interrupt maskLukas Wunner1-13/+11
Cache the interrupt mask to avoid re-reading it from the PHY upon every interrupt. This will simplify a subsequent commit which detects hot-removal in the interrupt handler and bails out. Analyzing and debugging PHY transactions also becomes simpler if such redundant reads are avoided. Last not least, interrupt overhead and latency is slightly improved. The KSZ8061 phy_driver structure does not have the .probe/..driver_data fields, which means that priv is not allocated. This causes the NULL pointer dereference inside kszphy_config_reset(). Fix the problem by using the generic suspend/resume functions as before. Another alternative would be to provide the .probe and .driver_data information into the structure, but to be on the safe side, let's just restore Ethernet functionality by using the generic suspend/resume. 2022-05-04net: sfp: Add tx-fault workaround for Huawei MA5671A SFP ONTMatthew Hagan1-1/+11
As noted elsewhere, various GPON SFP modules exhibit non-standard TX-fault behaviour. In the tested case, the Huawei MA5671A, when used in combination with a Marvell mv88e6085 switch, was found to persistently assert TX-fault, resulting in the module being disabled. This patch adds a quirk to ignore the SFP_F_TX_FAULT state, allowing the module to function.
