Disable phy 10 Mbps pll off to fix this issue. Add rtl_disable_exit_l1() for ensuring that the chip doesn't inadvertently exit ASPM L1 when being in a low-power mode. The new function is called from rtl_prepare_power_down() which has to be moved in the code to avoid a forward declaration. According to Realtek OCP register 0xc0ac shadows ERI register 0xd4 on RTL8168 versions from RTL8168g. 2022-01-27r8169: enable ASPM L1.2 if system vendor flags it as safeHeiner Kallweit1-1/+32
On some systems there are compatibility issues with ASPM L1.2 and RTL8125, therefore this state is disabled per default. To allow for the L1.2 power saving on not affected systems, Realtek provides vendors that successfully tested ASPM L1.2 the option to flag this state as safe. According to Realtek this flag will be set first on certain Chromebox devices. 2021-12-17r8169: Avoid misuse of pm_ptr() macroPaul Cercueil1-1/+3
The pm_ptr() macro should be used when the suspend and resume functions can be compiled independently of the CONFIG_PM Kconfig option. In the case of this driver, the suspend and resume functions are inside a section protected by a #ifdef CONFIG_PM guard. Therefore pm_ptr() should not be used. 2021-11-17r8169: enable ASPM L1/L1.1 from RTL8168hHeiner Kallweit1-6/+11
With newer chip versions ASPM-related issues seem to occur only if L1.2 is enabled. I have a test system with RTL8168h that gives a number of rx_missed errors when running iperf and L1.2 is enabled. With L1.2 disabled (and L1 + L1.1 active) everything is fine. See also [0]. Can't test this, but L1 + L1.1 being active should be sufficient to reach higher package power saving states. To maintain netdev->dev_addr in this tree we need to make all the writes to it got through appropriate helpers. Read the address into an array on the stack, then call eth_hw_addr_set(). To maintain netdev->dev_addr in this tree we need to make all the writes to it got through appropriate helpers. This patch takes care of drivers which cast netdev->dev_addr to a 16bit type, often with an explicit byte order. Convert all Ethernet drivers from memcpy(... dev->addr_len) to eth_hw_addr_set(): @@ expression dev, np; @@ - memcpy(dev->dev_addr, np, dev->addr_len) + eth_hw_addr_set(dev, np) In theory addr_len may not be ETH_ALEN, but we don't expect non-Ethernet devices to live under this directory, and only the following cases of setting addr_len exist: - cxgb4 for mgmt device, and the drivers which set it to ETH_ALEN: s2io, mlx4, vxge.
