2013-03-10drivers:net: Remove unnecessary OOM messages after netdev_alloc_skbJoe Perches1-5/+2
Emitting netdev_alloc_skb and netdev_alloc_skb_ip_align OOM messages is unnecessary as there is already a dump_stack after allocation failures. Other trivial changes around these removals: Convert a few comparisons of pointer to 0 to !pointer. Change flow to remove unnecessary label. Remove now unused variable. Hoist assignment from if. 2013-01-22drivers/net: delete old parallel port de600/de620 driversPaul Gortmaker6-1834/+1
The parallel port is largely replaced by USB, and even in the day where these drivers were current, the documented speed was less than 100kB/s. Let us not pretend that anyone cares about these drivers anymore, or worse - pretend that anyone is using them on a modern kernel. As a side bonus, this is the end of legacy parallel port ethernet, so we get to drop the whole chunk relating to that in the legacy Space.c file containing the non-PCI unified probe dispatch. 2013-01-09remove init of dev->perm_addr in driversJiri Pirko1-1/+0
perm_addr is initialized correctly in register_netdevice() so to init it in drivers is no longer needed. Signed-off-by: Jiri Pirko <jiri@resnulli.us> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-01-07ethtool: fix drvinfo strings set in driversJiri Pirko1-3/+4
Use strlcpy where possible to ensure the string is \0 terminated. Use always sizeof(string) instead of 32, ETHTOOL_BUSINFO_LEN and custom defines. Use snprintf instead of sprint. Remove unnecessary inits of ->fw_version Remove unnecessary inits of drvinfo struct. Signed-off-by: Jiri Pirko <jiri@resnulli.us> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/net-next Networking: Remove __dev* markings from the networking drivers This is a series of patches that remove the dev* attributes for all networking drivers, with the exception of wireless drivers, those are in a different branch. Use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit are no longer needed since CONFIG_HOTPLUG is being removed as an option. Note, there are some devinit compiler section mismatch warnings due to this series, but they are fixed up when merged with my driver-next branch, which fixes the PCI device id warnings, and removes the modpost detection, as it's no longer needed. 2012-12-03dlink: remove __dev* attributesBill Pemberton2-11/+11

Conflicts: drivers/net/ethernet/intel/e1000e/param.c drivers/net/wireless/iwlwifi/iwl-agn-rx.c drivers/net/wireless/iwlwifi/iwl-trans-pcie-rx.c drivers/net/wireless/iwlwifi/iwl-trans.h Resolved the iwlwifi conflict with mainline using 3-way diff posted by John Linville and Stephen Rothwell. In 'net' we added a bug fix to make iwlwifi report a more accurate skb->truesize but this conflicted with RX path changes that happened meanwhile in net-next. In e1000e a conflict arose in the validation code for settings of adapter->itr. 'net-next' had more sophisticated logic so that logic was used. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-04-26dl2k: Clean up rio_ioctlJeff Mahoney2-50/+9
The dl2k driver's rio_ioctl call has a few issues: - No permissions checking - Implements SIOCGMIIREG and SIOCGMIIREG using the SIOCDEVPRIVATE numbers - Has a few ioctls that may have been used for debugging at one point but have no place in the kernel proper. This patch removes all but the MII ioctls, renumbers them to use the standard ones, and adds the proper permission check for SIOCSMIIREG. We can also get rid of the dl2k-specific struct mii_data in favor of the generic struct mii_ioctl_data. Since we have the phyid on hand, we can add the SIOCGMIIPHY ioctl too. Most of the MII code for the driver could probably be converted to use the generic MII library but I don't have a device to test the results. 2012-04-07dl2k: stop using net_device.{base_addr, irq} and convert to __iomem.Francois Romieu2-226/+209
The eeprom registers always use the same PCI bar whereas the general registers may either use the same mapping as the eeprom registers or a different one. It is thus possible to simplify parse_eeprom(). Signed-off-by: Francois Romieu <romieu@fr.zoreil.com>

2011-12-20module_param: make bool parameters really bool (net & drivers/net)Rusty Russell1-1/+1
module_param(bool) used to counter-intuitively take an int. In fddd5201 (mid-2009) we allowed bool or int/unsigned int using a messy trick. It's time to remove the int/unsigned int option. For this version it'll simply give a warning, but it'll break next kernel version. (Thanks to Joe Perches for suggesting coccinelle for 0/1 -> true/false). Cc: "David S. 2011-09-15MII: fix Kconfig dependencies for MIIJeff Kirsher1-0/+1
MII Kconfig option is apart of the core networking drivers and by default NET_CORE is enabled so drivers selecting MII will have MII enabled as well. It was found using the randconfig option during testing, MII would be selected but NET_CORE could be disabled. This caused a dependency error. Resolved the dependency by selecting NET_CORE when MII is selected. 2011-08-27drivers/net/ethernet/*: Enabled vendor Kconfig optionsJeff Kirsher1-0/+1
Based on finds for Stephen Rothwell, where current defconfig's enable a ethernet driver and it is not compiled due to the newly added NET_VENDOR_* component of Kconfig. This patch enables all the "new" Kconfig options so that current defconfig's will continue to compile the expected drivers. In addition, by enabling all the new Kconfig options does not add any un-expected options. CC: Stephen Rothwll <sfc@canb.auug.org.au> Signed-off-by: Jeff Kirsher <jeffrey.t.kirsher@intel.com>
