2006-01-17[PATCH] e1000: Fix Desc. Rings and Jumbo FramesJeff Kirsher1-47/+61
This patch contains two fixes. The first fix is to the tx and rx descriptor rings clean up process. The second fix is to jumbo frames, which cleans up the code logic and removes most of the fifo related limitations on jumbo frames. This is because the driver code now supports splitting a packet across multiple descriptors. In e1000_free_desc_rings, zero-out pointers after the memory they point to is freed. The test rings are static and get re-used, and failures during subsequent test setups can cause e1000_free_desc_rings to get called with dirty pointers. Dirty pointers can cause oopses or crashes... Fixes for packet split related issues * On platforms where PAGE_SIZE > 4K, driver will use only required number of pages compared to always using 3 pages. * Packet split won't be used if the PAGE_SIZE is > 16K * Adds a statistics counter to splits. * Setting the non Null ptr to zero sized buffers to solve packet split receive descriptor error * When the no of pages needed is calculated, the header buffer is not included for a given MTU.
