This properly fills in all the format fields and calculates the width and height correctly. Esp. the minimum width and height was wrong. When changing the standard the width and height also have to be reset to the corresponding default width/height for the chosen standard. 2023-03-20media: cx18: fix incorrect input countingHans Verkuil1-2/+2
Counting the number of video and audio inputs was wrong if the number of inputs equalled CX18_CARD_MAX_VIDEO_INPUTS or CX18_CARD_MAX_AUDIO_INPUTS. This was a copy-and-paste from the ivtv driver. That driver has been fixed quite a long time ago, but we missed that this driver had the same bug. 2022-03-18media: Kconfig: cleanup VIDEO_DEV dependenciesMauro Carvalho Chehab1-1/+1
media Kconfig has two entries associated to V4L API: VIDEO_DEV and VIDEO_V4L2. On Kernel 2.6.x, there were two V4L APIs, each one with its own flag. VIDEO_DEV were meant to: 1) enable Video4Linux and make its Kconfig options to appear; 2) it makes the Kernel build the V4L core. while VIDEO_V4L2 where used to distinguish between drivers that implement the newer API and drivers that implemented the former one. With time, such meaning changed, specially after the removal of all V4L version 1 drivers. At the current implementation, VIDEO_DEV only does (1): it enables the media options related to V4L, that now has: menu "Video4Linux options" visible if VIDEO_DEV source "drivers/media/v4l2-core/Kconfig" endmenu but it doesn't affect anymore the V4L core drivers. The rationale is that the V4L2 core has a "soft" dependency at the I2C bus, and now requires to select a number of other Kconfig options: config VIDEO_V4L2 tristate depends on (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV select RATIONAL select VIDEOBUF2_V4L2 if VIDEOBUF2_CORE default (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV In the past, merging them would be tricky, but it seems that it is now possible to merge those symbols, in order to simplify V4L dependencies. Let's keep VIDEO_DEV, as this one is used on some make *defconfig configurations. In [1], Christoph Hellwig has proposed to remove the wrappers in include/linux/pci-dma-compat.h. Some reasons why this API should be removed have been given by Julia Lawall in [2]. 2021-06-17media: v4l2-subdev: add subdev-wide state structTomi Valkeinen1-1/+1
We have 'struct v4l2_subdev_pad_config' which contains configuration for a single pad used for the TRY functionality, and an array of those structs is passed to various v4l2_subdev_pad_ops. I was working on subdev internal routing between pads, and realized that there's no way to add TRY functionality for routes, which is not pad specific configuration. Adding a separate struct for try-route config wouldn't work either, as e.g. set-fmt needs to know the try-route configuration to propagate the settings. This patch adds a new struct, 'struct v4l2_subdev_state' (which at the moment only contains the v4l2_subdev_pad_config array) and the new struct is used in most of the places where v4l2_subdev_pad_config was used. All v4l2_subdev_pad_ops functions taking v4l2_subdev_pad_config are changed to instead take v4l2_subdev_state. The changes to drivers/media/v4l2-core/v4l2-subdev.c and include/media/v4l2-subdev.h were written by hand, and all the driver changes were done with the semantic patch below. The spatch needs to be applied to a select list of directories. 2020-04-14media: Kconfig: better support hybrid TV devicesMauro Carvalho Chehab1-1/+1
Right now, if one has an hybrid TV card, it has to select both analog and digital TV support, as otherwise the needed core support won't be selected. Change the logic to auto-select the core support for those drivers, as this is a way more intuitive. It should be noticed that, as now both DVB_CORE and VIDEO_DEV defaults depends on selecting a hybrid cards, we had to remove the explicit dependencies there, in order to avoid circular dependencies. That requires some tricks: 1) the prompt should not be not visible when an hybrid card is selected, as the user shold not change it. 2) When a media hybrid device is selected, the modular option for DVB_CORE and VIDEO_DEV will follow the MEDIA_SUPPORT dependency, as we can't have a core built with "y" with a driver built as module. On 32-bits archs, a signed integer has 31 bits plus on extra bit for signal. Due to that, touching the 32th bit with something like: int bar = 1 << 31; has an undefined behavior in C on 32 bit architectures, as it touches the signal bit. This is warned by cppcheck. Instead of filling in the struct v4l2_capability device_caps field, fill in the struct video_device device_caps field. That way the V4L2 core knows what the capabilities of the video device are. Currently, the Kbuild core manipulates header search paths in a crazy way [1]. To fix this mess, I want all Makefiles to add explicit $(srctree)/ to the search paths in the srctree. Some Makefiles are already written in that way, but not all. The goal of this work is to make the notation consistent, and finally get rid of the gross hacks.
