2022-05-01iio: gyro: mpu3050: Make mpu3050_common_remove() return voidUwe Kleine-König3-5/+5
This function (up to now) returns zero unconditionally, so there isn't any benefit of returning a value. Make it return void to be able to see at a glance that the return value of mpu3050_i2c_remove is always zero. This patch is a preparation for making i2c remove callbacks return void. 2022-04-10iio: core: Simplify the registration of kfifo buffersMiquel Raynal1-1/+0
Among all the users of the kfifo buffers, no one uses the INDIO_BUFFER_HARDWARE mode. So let's take this as a general rule and simplify a little bit the internals - overall the documentation - by eliminating unused specific cases. Use the INDIO_BUFFER_SOFTWARE mode by default with kfifo buffers, which will basically mimic what all the "non direct" modes do. 2022-02-09spi: make remove callback a void functionUwe Kleine-König2-6/+2
The value returned by an spi driver's remove function is mostly ignored. (Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the error is ignored.) So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly. There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to return 0 before. 2022-01-30iio: Fix error handling for PMMiaoqian Lin1-1/+4
The pm_runtime_enable will increase power disable depth. If the probe fails, we should use pm_runtime_disable() to balance pm_runtime_enable(). In the PM Runtime docs: Drivers in ->remove() callback should undo the runtime PM changes done in ->probe(). Usually this means calling pm_runtime_disable(), pm_runtime_dont_use_autosuspend() etc. We should do this in error handling. Fix this problem for the following drivers: bmc150, bmg160, kmx61, kxcj-1013, mma9551, mma9553. 2022-01-23iio: st_sensors: don't always auto-enable I2C and SPI interface driversNikita Yushchenko1-15/+22
This patch makes I2C and SPI interface drivers for STMicroelectronics sensor chips individually selectable via Kconfig. The default is kept unchanged - I2C and SPI interface drivers are still selected by default if the corresponding bus support is available. However, the patch makes it possible to explicitly disable drivers that are not needed for a particular target. 2021-11-17iio: itg3200: Call iio_trigger_notify_done() on errorLars-Peter Clausen1-1/+1
IIO trigger handlers must call iio_trigger_notify_done() when done. This must be done even when an error occurred. Otherwise the trigger will be seen as busy indefinitely and the trigger handler will never be called again. The itg3200 driver neglects to call iio_trigger_notify_done() when there is an error reading the gyro data. Fix this by making sure that iio_trigger_notify_done() is included in the error exit path. When using fifo_values() there was not enough space for the timestamp to be inserted by iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp() 2. fifo_values() did not meet the alignment requirement of iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp() 3. hw_values did not meet the alignment requirement either. 1 and 2 fixed by using new iio_push_to_buffers_with_ts_unaligned() which has no alignment or space padding requirements. 3 fixed by introducing a structure that makes the space and alignment requirements explicit. Commit b1fe0cf06f92 ("Input: delete MPU3050 driver") deletes the superseded MPU3050 driver and its corresponding config INPUT_MPU3050. The dependencies on the superseding driver in ./drivers/iio/gyro/Kconfig to ensure that the two drivers are not built into the same kernel is a dead dependency and not required anymore. So, remove those config dependencies on INPUT_MPU3050 for MPU3050_I2C. This issue was detected with ./scripts/checkkconfigsymbols.py. The idea behind it, is that all devm_ calls in ST sensors are bound to the parent device object. However, the reference to that object is kept on both the st_sensor_data struct and the IIO object parent (indio_dev->dev.parent). This change only adds a bit consistency and uses the reference stored on indio_dev->dev.parent, to enforce the assumption that all ST sensors' devm_ calls are bound to the same reference as the one store on st_sensor_data. 2021-09-14iio: st_sensors: disable regulators after device unregistrationAlexandru Ardelean2-4/+4
Up until commit ea7e586bdd331 ("iio: st_sensors: move regulator retrieveal to core") only the ST pressure driver seems to have had any regulator disable. After that commit, the regulator handling was moved into the common st_sensors logic. In all instances of this regulator handling, the regulators were disabled before unregistering the IIO device. This can cause issues where the device would be powered down and still be available to userspace, allowing it to send invalid/garbage data. This change moves the st_sensors_power_disable() after the common probe functions. These common probe functions also handle unregistering the IIO device. 0-day recently added the include-what-you-use header checker and it gave a warning on an adis patch. As such I decided to run it on all the adis drivers and see if it made sensible suggestions. Note this doesn't represent a complete list of what it suggested changing as I filtered out a few on the basis they are standard headers used to effectively include a bunch of other headers. Could split this into a patch per driver if people prefer. Note to anyone else trying this tool is that it is somewhat of a loose cannon so you will be wanting to carefully check any suggestions before proposing patches! I thought about also reorganising the headers whilst here, but that would make this patch harder to read, or lead to another rather noisy patch across most of the files. In both the probe() error path and remove() pm_runtime_put_noidle() is called which will decrement the runtime pm reference count. However, there is no matching function to have raised the reference count. Not this isn't a fix as the runtime pm core will stop the reference count going negative anyway. An alternative would have been to raise the count in these paths, but it is not clear why that would be necessary. 2021-05-10iio: hid-sensors: select IIO_TRIGGERED_BUFFER under HID_SENSOR_IIO_TRIGGERAlexandru Ardelean1-1/+0
During commit 067fda1c065ff ("iio: hid-sensors: move triggered buffer setup into hid_sensor_setup_trigger"), the iio_triggered_buffer_{setup,cleanup}() functions got moved under the hid-sensor-trigger module. The above change works fine, if any of the sensors get built. However, when only the common hid-sensor-trigger module gets built (and none of the drivers), then the IIO_TRIGGERED_BUFFER symbol isn't selected/enforced. Previously, each driver would enforce/select the IIO_TRIGGERED_BUFFER symbol. With this change the HID_SENSOR_IIO_TRIGGER (for the hid-sensor-trigger module) will enforce that IIO_TRIGGERED_BUFFER gets selected. All HID sensor drivers select the HID_SENSOR_IIO_TRIGGER symbol. So, this change removes the IIO_TRIGGERED_BUFFER enforcement from each driver. When allocated with [devm_]iio_trigger_alloc(), set trig device parent to the device the trigger is allocated for by default. It can always be reassigned in the probe routine. Change iio_trigger_alloc() API to add the device pointer to be coherent with devm_iio_trigger_alloc, using similar interface to iio_device_alloc().
