We need shared data for actions (e.g. guc suspend/resume), and we're
using those with GuC submission disabled.
Let's introduce intel_guc_init and move shared data alloc there.
This fixes GPF during module unload with HuC, but without GuC submission:

Pretty similar to what we have on execlists.
We're reusing most of the GEM code, however, due to GuC quirks we need a
couple of extra bits.
Preemption is implemented as GuC action, and actions can be pretty slow.
Because of that, we're using a mutex to serialize them. Since we're
requesting preemption from the tasklet, the task of creating a workitem
and wrapping it in GuC action is delegated to a worker.
To distinguish that preemption has finished, we're using additional
piece of HWSP, and since we're not getting context switch interrupts,
we're also adding a user interrupt.
The fact that our special preempt context has completed unfortunately
doesn't mean that we're ready to submit new work. We also need to wait
for GuC to finish its own processing.
v2: Don't compile out the wait for GuC, handle workqueue flush on reset,
no need for ordered workqueue, put on a reviewer hat when looking at my own
patches (Chris)
Move struct work around in intel_guc, move user interruput outside of
conditional (Michał)
Keep ring around rather than chase though intel_context
v3: Extract WA for flushing ggtt writes to a helper (Chris)
Keep work_struct in intel_guc rather than engine (Michał)
Use ordered workqueue for inject_preempt worker to avoid GuC quirks.
v4: Drop now unused INTEL_GUC_PREEMPT_OPTION_IMMEDIATE (Daniele)
Drop stray newlines, use container_of for intel_guc in worker,
check for presence of workqueue when flushing it, rather than
enable_guc_submission modparam, reorder preempt postprocessing (Chris)
v5: Make wq NULL after destroying it
v6: Swap struct guc_preempt_work members (Michał)

as preemptive. This will allow us to request preemption using GuC actions.

We were using first page of kernel context render state for sharing data
with GuC. While it's justified by the fact that those pages are not used
(note, GuC still enforces this layout and refuses to work if we remove
the extra page in front), it's also confusing (why are we using this
particular page?). Let's allocate a separate object instead.

GuC firmware sends a flush interrupt to Host when the log buffer is half
full and at that time only it updates the log buffer state.
But in certain cases, as described below, it could be useful to have all
that even when log buffer is only partially full. For that there is a force
log buffer flush Host2GuC action supported by GuC firmware.
For Validation requirements, a forceful flush is needed to collect the
left over logs on disabling logging. The same can be done before proceeding
with GPU/GuC reset as there could be some data in log buffer which is yet
to be captured and those logs would be particularly useful to understand
that why the reset was initiated.

GuC firmware sends an interrupt to flush the log buffer when it
becomes half full. GuC firmware also tracks how many times the
buffer overflowed.
It would be useful to maintain a statistics of how many flush
interrupts were received and for which type of log buffer,
along with the overflow count of each buffer type.
Augmented i915_log_info debugfs to report back these statistics.
v2:
- Update the logic to detect multiple overflows between the 2
flush interrupts and also log a message for overflow (Tvrtko)
- Track the number of times there was no free sub buffer to capture
the GuC log buffer. (Tvrtko)
v3:
- Fix the printf field width for overflow counter, set it to 10 as per the
max value of u32, which takes 10 digits in decimal form. (Tvrtko)

Added a new debugfs interface '/sys/kernel/debug/dri/guc_log' for the
User to capture GuC firmware logs. Availed relay framework to implement
the interface, where Driver will have to just use a relay API to store
snapshots of the GuC log buffer in the buffer managed by relay.
The snapshot will be taken when GuC firmware sends a log buffer flush
interrupt and up to four snapshots could be stored in the relay buffer.
The relay buffer will be operated in a mode where it will overwrite the
data not yet collected by User.
Besides mmap method, through which User can directly access the relay
buffer contents, relay also supports the 'poll' method. Through the 'poll'
call on log file, User can come to know whenever a new snapshot of the
log buffer is taken by Driver, so can run in tandem with the Driver and
capture the logs in a sustained/streaming manner, without any loss of data.
v2: Defer the creation of relay channel & associated debugfs file, as
debugfs setup is now done at the end of i915 Driver load. (Chris)
v3:
- Switch to no-overwrite mode for relay.
- Fix the relay sub buffer switching sequence.
v4:
- Update i915 Kconfig to select RELAY config. (TvrtKo)
- Log a message when there is no sub buffer available to capture
the GuC log buffer. (Tvrtko)
- Increase the number of relay sub buffers to 8 from 4, to have
sufficient buffering for boot time logs
v5:
- Fix the alignment, indentation issues and some minor cleanup. (Tvrtko)
- Update the comment to elaborate on why a relay channel has to be
associated with the debugfs file. (Tvrtko)
v6:
- Move the write to 'is_global' after the NULL check on parent directory

GuC ukernel sends an interrupt to Host to flush the log buffer
and expects Host to correspondingly update the read pointer
information in the state structure, once it has consumed the
log buffer contents by copying them to a file or buffer.
Even if Host couldn't copy the contents, it can still update the
read pointer so that logging state is not disturbed on GuC side.
v2:
- Use a dedicated workqueue for handling flush interrupt. (Tvrtko)
- Reduce the overall log buffer copying time by skipping the copy of
crash buffer area for regular cases and copying only the state
structure data in first page.
v3:
- Create a vmalloc mapping of log buffer. (Chris)
- Cover the flush acknowledgment under rpm get & put.(Chris)
- Revert the change of skipping the copy of crash dump area, as
not really needed, will be covered by subsequent patch.
v4:
- Destroy the wq under the same condition in which it was created,
pass dev_piv pointer instead of dev to newly added GuC function,
add more comments & rename variable for clarity. (Tvrtko)
v5:
- Allocate & destroy the dedicated wq, for handling flush interrupt,
from the setup/teardown routines of GuC logging. (Chris)
- Validate the log buffer size value retrieved from state structure
and do some minor cleanup. (Tvrtko)
- Fix error/warnings reported by checkpatch. (Tvrtko)
- Rebase.
v6:
- Remove the interrupts_enabled check from guc_capture_logs_work, need
to process that last work item also, queued just before disabling the
interrupt as log buffer flush interrupt handling is a bit different
case where GuC is actually expecting an ACK from host, which should be
provided to keep the logging going.
Sync against the work will be done by caller disabling the interrupt.
- Don't sample the log buffer size value from state structure, directly
use the expected value to move the pointer & do the copy and that cannot
go wrong (out of bounds) as Driver only allocated the log buffer and the
relay buffers. Driver should refrain from interpreting the log packet,
as much possible and let Userspace parser detect the anomaly. (Chris)
v7:
- Use switch statement instead of 'if else' for retrieving the GuC log
buffer size. (Tvrtko)
- Refactored the log buffer copying function and shortended the name of
couple of variables for better readability. (Tvrtko)
v8:

turnaround time of handing log buffer flush event from GuC.

example retrieve/consume the logs generated by ukernel.
This patch adds support to receive interrupts from GuC but currently
enables & partially handles only the interrupt sent by GuC ukernel.
Future patches will add support for handling other interrupt types.
v2:

- Rename interrupt functions to gen9_xxx from gen8_xxx (Chris)
- Replace disabling of wake ref asserts with rpm get/put (Chris)
v3:

- Remove the masking of GuC interrupt, which was kept masked till the
start of bottom half, its not really needed as there is only a

v4:
- Rebase.
- Rename guc_events to pm_guc_events so as to be indicative of the
register/control block it is associated with. (Chris)
- Add handling for back to back log buffer flush interrupts.
v5:
- Move the read & clearing of register, containing Guc2Host message
bits, outside the irq spinlock. (Tvrtko)
v6:
- Move the log buffer flush interrupt related stuff to the following

Currently the presumption is that the request construction and its
submission to the GuC are all under the same holding of struct_mutex. We
wish to relax this to separate the request construction and the later
submission to the GuC. This requires us to reserve some space in the
GuC command queue for the future submission. For flexibility to handle
out-of-order request submission we do not preallocate the next slot in

The Context Descriptor passed by the kernel to the GuC contains a field
specifying which engine(s) the context will use. Historically, this was
always set to "all of them", but if we had a separate client for each
engine, we could be more precise, and set only the bit for the engine
that the client was associated with. So this patch enables this usage,
in preparation for having multiple clients, though at this point there

The ONLY places that guc_id (aka hw_id) should be used are those where
the value or address is determined by and shared with the GuC firmware;
specifically, when filling in the GuC-context-descriptor or the GuC

It need not (and therefore should not) be used to index GuC statistics

Our goal is to rename the anonymous per-engine struct beneath the
current intel_context. However, after a lively debate resolving around
the confusion between intel_context_engine and intel_engine_context, the
realisation is that the two structs target different users. The outer
struct is API / user facing, and so carries the higher level GEM
information. The inner struct is hw facing. Thus we want to name the
inner struct intel_context and the outer one i915_gem_context. As the
first step, we need to rename the current struct:
s/struct intel_context/struct i915_gem_context/
which fits much better with its constructors already conveying the
i915_gem_context prefix!

Mostly little optimisations and future-proofing against code breakage.
For instance, if the driver is correctly following the submission
protocol, the "out of space" condition is impossible, so the previous
runtime WARN_ON() is promoted to a GEM_BUG_ON() for a more dramatic
effect in development and less impact in end-user systems.
Similarly we can make alignment checking more stringent and replace
other WARN_ON() conditions that don't relate to the runtime hardware
state with either BUILD_BUG_ON() for compile-time-detectable issues, or
GEM_BUG_ON() for logical "can't happen" errors.
With those changes, we can convert it to void, as suggested by Chris
Wilson, and update the calling code appropriately.

Separate out the layers of includes (linux, drm, intel, i915) so that it
is a little easier to order our definitions between our multiple
reentrant headers. A couple of headers needed fixes to make them more
standalone (forgotten includes, forward declarations etc).

Previously GuC uses ring id as engine id because of same definition.
But this is not true since this commit:
commit de1add360522c876c25ef2bbbbab1c94bdb509ab

drm/i915: Decouple execbuf uAPI from internal implementation
Added GuC engine id into GuC interface to decouple it from ring id used
by driver.
v2: Keep ring name print out in debugfs; using for_each_ring() where

The GuC firmware uses this for various purposes. The ADS itself is
a chunk of memory created by driver to share with GuC. Its members
are usually addresses telling where GuC to access them, including
things like scheduler policies, register list that will be saved
and restored during reset etc.
This is the first patch of a series to enable GuC ADS. For now, we
only create the ADS obj whilst keep it disabled.

Split GuC work queue space checking from submission and move it to
ring_alloc_request_extras. The reason is that failure in later
i915_add_request() won't be handled. In the case timeout happens,
driver can return early in order to handle the error.
v1: Move wq_reserve_space to ring_reserve_space
v2: Move wq_reserve_space to alloc_request_extras (Chris Wilson)
v3: The work queue head pointer is cached by driver now. So we can
quickly return if space is available.

v4: Update cached wq head after ring doorbell; check wq space before
ring doorbell in case unexpected error happens; call wq space
check only when GuC submission is enabled. (Dave Gordon)

For now, remove the spinlocks that protected the GuC's
statistics block and work queue; they are only accessed
by code that already holds the global struct_mutex, and
so are redundant (until the big struct_mutex rewrite!).
The specific problem that the spinlocks caused was that
if the work queue was full, the driver would try to
spinwait for one jiffy, but with interrupts disabled the
jiffy count would not advance, leading to a system hang.
The issue was found using test case igt/gem_close_race.
The new version will usleep() instead, still holding
the struct_mutex but without any spinlocks.
v4: Reorganize commit message (Dave Gordon)

The size / offset information of all firmware ingredients are
now caculated from header. Driver will validate the header and
rsa key size. If any component is out of boundary, driver will
reject the loading too.
v6: Clean up warnings from make docs
v5: Tidy up GuC titles in kernel/Doc
v4: Now using 'size_dw' for those defined in css_header
v3: 1) Move DOC to intel_guc_fwif.h right before css_header
definition. Add more comments.
2) Change 'size' to 'len' or 'length' to avoid confusion.
3) Add UOS_RSA_SCRATCH_MAX_COUNT according to BSpec. And
driver validate size of RSA key now.
4) Add fw component size/offset info to intel_guc_fw.
v2: Add indent into DOC to make fixed-width format rather than
change the tmpl.

GuC-based submission is mostly the same as execlist mode, up to
intel_logical_ring_advance_and_submit(), where the context being
dispatched would be added to the execlist queue; at this point
we submit the context to the GuC backend instead.
There are, however, a few other changes also required, notably:
1. Contexts must be pinned at GGTT addresses accessible by the GuC
i.e. NOT in the range [0..WOPCM_SIZE), so we have to add the
PIN_OFFSET_BIAS flag to the relevant GGTT-pinning calls.
2. The GuC's TLB must be invalidated after a context is pinned at
a new GGTT address.
3. GuC firmware uses the one page before Ring Context as shared data.
Therefore, whenever driver wants to get base address of LRC, we
will offset one page for it. LRC_PPHWSP_PN is defined as the page
number of LRCA.
4. In the work queue used to pass requests to the GuC, the GuC
firmware requires the ring-tail-offset to be represented as an
11-bit value, expressed in QWords. Therefore, the ringbuffer
size must be reduced to the representable range (4 pages).
v2:
Defer adding #defines until needed [Chris Wilson]
Rationalise type declarations [Chris Wilson]
v4:
Squashed kerneldoc patch into here [Daniel Vetter]
v5:
Update request->tail in code common to both GuC and execlist modes.
Add a private version of lr_context_update(), as sharing the
execlist version leads to race conditions when the CPU and
the GuC both update TAIL in the context image.
Conversion of error-captured HWS page to string must account
for offset from start of object to actual HWS (LRC_PPHWSP_PN).

A GuC client has its own doorbell and workqueue. It maintains the
doorbell cache line, process description object and work queue item.
A default guc_client is created for the i915 driver to use for
normal-priority in-order submission.
Note that the created client is not yet ready for use; doorbell
allocation will fail as we haven't yet linked the GuC's context
descriptor to the default contexts for each ring (see later patch).
v2:
Defer adding structure members until needed [Chris Wilson]
Rationalise type declarations [Chris Wilson]
v5:
Add GuC per-engine submission & seqno statistics.
Move wq locking to encompass both get_space() and add_item().
Take forcewake lock in host2guc_action() [Tom O'Rourke]
v6:
Fix GuC doorbell cacheline selection code (the
cacheline-within-page calculation was wrong).
Rename GuC priorities to make them closer to the names used in
the GuC firmware source, matching what the autogenerated
versions will (probably) be.
Add per-ring statistics to client.
