There is a typo in the message. The clock name should be 'pclk_ddr_mon'.
Fix it.
While at it, switch to dev_err_probe() which is less verbose, filters
-EPROBE_DEFER, and log the error code in a human readable way.

of_get_child_by_name() returns a node pointer with refcount
incremented, we should use of_node_put() on it when done.
This function only calls of_node_put() in normal path,
missing it in error paths.
Add missing of_node_put() to avoid refcount leak.

When parsing devicetree, the function of_get_devfreq_events(), for each
device child node, iterates over array of possible events "ppmu_events"
till it finds one matching by node name. When match is found the
ppmu_events[i] points to element having both the name of the event and
the counters ID.
Each PPMU device child node might have an "event-name" property with the
name of the event, however due to the design of devfreq it must be the
same as the device node name. If it is not the same, the devfreq client
won't be able to use it via devfreq_event_get_edev_by_phandle().
Since PPMU device child node name must be equal to the "event-name"
property (event-name == ppmu_events[i].name), there is no need to find
the counters ID by the "event-name". Instead use ppmu_events[i].id
which must be equal to it.

Devicetree naming convention requires device node names to use hyphens
instead of underscore, so Exynos5422 devfreq event name
"ppmu-event3-dmc0_0" should be "ppmu-event3-dmc0-0". Newly introduced
dtschema enforces this, however the driver still expects old name with
an underscore.
Add new events for Exynos5422 while still accepting old name for
backwards compatibility.

Fix up inconsistent usage of upper and lowercase letters in "Exynos"
name.
"EXYNOS" is not an abbreviation but a regular trademarked name.
Therefore it should be written with lowercase letters starting with
capital letter.
The lowercase "Exynos" name is promoted by its manufacturer Samsung
Electronics Co., Ltd., in advertisement materials and on website.

Putting a 'struct devfreq_event_dev' object on the stack is generally
a bad idea and here it leads to a warnig about potential stack overflow:
drivers/devfreq/event/exynos-ppmu.c:643:12: error: stack frame size of 1040 bytes in function 'exynos_ppmu_probe' [-Werror,-Wframe-larger-than=]
There is no real need for the device structure, only the string inside
it, so add an internal helper function that simply takes the string
as its argument and remove the device structure.

This patch adds posibility to choose what type of data should be counted
by the PPMU counter. Now the type comes from DT where the event has been
defined. When there is no 'event-data-type' the default value is used,
which is 'read+write data in bytes'.
It is needed when you want to know not only read+write data bytes but
i.e. only write data in byte, or number of read requests, etc.

Convert string compares of DT node names to use of_node_name_eq helper
instead. This removes direct access to the node name pointer.
For instances using of_node_cmp, this has the side effect of now using
case sensitive comparisons. This should not matter for any FDT based
system which all of these are.

The devm_kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, devm_kcalloc().
This patch replaces cases of:
devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b, gfp)
with:
devm_kcalloc(handle, a * b, gfp)
as well as handling cases of:
devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b * c, gfp)
with:
devm_kzalloc(handle, array3_size(a, b, c), gfp)
as it's slightly less ugly than:
devm_kcalloc(handle, array_size(a, b), c, gfp)
This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:
devm_kzalloc(handle, 4 * 1024, gfp)
though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.
Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were
dropped, since they're redundant.
Some manual whitespace fixes were needed in this patch, as Coccinelle
really liked to write "=devm_kcalloc..." instead of "= devm_kcalloc...".
The Coccinelle script used for this was:
// Fix redundant parens around sizeof().

for_each_child_of_node() performs an of_node_put() on each iteration, so
putting an of_node_put() before a continue results in a double put.

The Kconfig currently controlling compilation of this code is:
config DEVFREQ_EVENT_EXYNOS_PPMU
bool "EXYNOS PPMU (Platform Performance Monitoring Unit) DEVFREQ event Driver"
...meaning that it currently is not being built as a module by anyone.
Rather than rip out the existing modular code, Chanwoo indicated
that he'd rather see the driver offered as tristate.
I don't have the hardware for runtime validation, so this change
is only validated for compile and modpost.

Smatch complains because platform_get_resource() returns NULL on error
and not an error pointer so the check is wrong. Julia Lawall pointed
out that normally we don't check these, because devm_ioremap_resource()
has a check for NULL.

This patch adds NoC (Network on Chip) Probe driver which provides
the primitive values to get the performance data. The packets that the Network
on Chip (NoC) probes detects are transported over the network infrastructure.
Exynos542x bus has multiple NoC probes to provide bandwidth information about
behavior of the SoC that you can use while analyzing system performance.

This patch adds the support for PPMU (Platform Performance Monitoring Unit)
version 2.0 for Exynos5433 SoC. Exynos5433 SoC must need PPMUv2 which is
quite different from PPMUv1.1. The exynos-ppmu.c driver supports both PPMUv1.1
and PPMUv2.

This patch adds a new class in devfreq, devfreq_event, which provides
raw data (e.g., memory bus utilization, GPU utilization) for devfreq
governors.
- devfreq_event device : Provides raw data for a governor of a devfreq device
- devfreq device : Monitors device state and changes frequency/voltage
of the device using the raw data from its
devfreq_event device.
A devfreq device dertermines performance states (normally the frequency
and the voltage vlues) based on the results its designtated devfreq governor:
e.g., ondemand, performance, powersave.
In order to give such results required by a devfreq device, the devfreq
governor requires data that indicates the performance requirement given
to the devfreq device. The conventional (previous) implementatino of
devfreq subsystem requires a devfreq device driver to implement its own
mechanism to acquire performance requirement for its governor. However,
there had been issues with such requirements:
1. Although performance requirement of such devices is usually acquired
from common devices (PMU/PPMU), we do not have any abstract structure to
represent them properly.
2. Such performance requirement devices (PMU/PPMU) are actual hardware
pieces that may be represented by Device Tree directly while devfreq device
itself is a virtual entity that are not considered to be represented by
Device Tree according to Device Tree folks.
In order to address such issues, a devferq_event device (represented by
this patch) provides a template for device drivers representing
performance monitoring unit, which gives the basic or raw data for
preformance requirement, which in turn, is required by devfreq governors.
The following description explains the feature of two kind of devfreq class:
- devfreq class (existing)
: devfreq consumer device use raw data from devfreq_event device for
determining proper current system state and change voltage/frequency
dynamically using various governors.
- devfreq_event class (new)
: Provide measured raw data to devfreq device for governor
