Pull ACPI updates from Rafael Wysocki:
"These rework the handling of ACPI device objects to use the driver
core facilities for managing child ones instead of some questionable
home-grown ways without the requisite locking and reference counting,
clean up the EC driver, improve suspend-to-idle handling on x86, add
some systems to the ACPI backlight quirk list, fix some assorted
issues, clean up code and improve documentation.
Specifics:
- Use facilities provided by the driver core and some additional
helpers to handle the children of a given ACPI device object in
multiple places instead of using the children and node list heads
in struct acpi_device which is error prone (Rafael Wysocki).
- Fix ACPI-related device reference counting issue in the hisi_lpc
bus driver (Yang Yingliang).
- Drop the children and node list heads that are not needed any more
from struct acpi_device (Rafael Wysocki).
- Drop driver member from struct acpi_device (Uwe Kleine-König).
- Drop redundant check from acpi_device_remove() (Uwe Kleine-König).

For LoongArch, ACPI_IRQ_MODEL_LPIC is introduced, and then the
callback acpi_get_gsi_domain_id and acpi_gsi_to_irq_fallback are
implemented.
The acpi_get_gsi_domain_id callback returns related fwnode handle
of irqdomain for different GSI range.
The acpi_gsi_to_irq_fallback will create new mapping for gsi when
the mapping of it is not found.

Previously the kernel used to ignore whether the firmware masked CPPC
or CPPCv2 and would just pretend that it worked.
When support for the USB4 bit in _OSC was introduced from commit
9e1f561afb ("ACPI: Execute platform _OSC also with query bit clear")
the kernel began to look at the return when the query bit was clear.
This caused regressions that were misdiagnosed and attempted to be solved
as part of commit 2ca8e6285250 ("Revert "ACPI: Pass the same capabilities
to the _OSC regardless of the query flag""). This caused a different
regression where non-Intel systems weren't able to negotiate _OSC
properly.
This was reverted in commit 2ca8e6285250 ("Revert "ACPI: Pass the same
capabilities to the _OSC regardless of the query flag"") and attempted to
be fixed by commit c42fa24b4475 ("ACPI: bus: Avoid using CPPC if not
supported by firmware") but the regression still returned.
These systems with the regression only load support for CPPC from an SSDT
dynamically when _OSC reports CPPC v2. Avoid the problem by not letting
CPPC satisfy the requirement in `acpi_cppc_processor_probe`.

Currently acpi_viot_init() gets called after the pci
device has been scanned and pci_enable_acs() has been called.
So pci_request_acs() fails to be taken into account leading
to wrong single iommu group topologies when dealing with
multi-function root ports for instance.
We cannot simply move the acpi_viot_init() earlier, similarly
as the IORT init because the VIOT parsing relies on the pci
scan. However we can detect VIOT is present earlier and in
such a case, request ACS. Introduce a new acpi_viot_early_init()
routine that allows to call pci_request_acs() before the scan.
While at it, guard the call to pci_request_acs() with #ifdef
CONFIG_PCI.

struct acpi_device::driver tracks the same information as the driver
member of struct acpi_device::dev.
Fix all users of the former to use the latter and drop the redundant
data from struct acpi_device.

A bus remove callback is only ever called by the device core with a
bound driver. So there is no need to check if the driver is non-NULL.

Pull cxl updates from Dan Williams:
"Compute Express Link (CXL) updates for this cycle.
The highlight is new driver-core infrastructure and CXL subsystem
changes for allowing lockdep to validate device_lock() usage. Thanks
to PeterZ for setting me straight on the current capabilities of the
lockdep API, and Greg acked it as well.
On the CXL ACPI side this update adds support for CXL _OSC so that
platform firmware knows that it is safe to still grant Linux native
control of PCIe hotplug and error handling in the presence of CXL
devices. A circular dependency problem was discovered between suspend
and CXL memory for cases where the suspend image might be stored in
CXL memory where that image also contains the PCI register state to
restore to re-enable the device. Disable suspend for now until an
architecture is defined to clarify that conflict.
Lastly a collection of reworks, fixes, and cleanups to the CXL
subsystem where support for snooping mailbox commands and properly
handling the "mem_enable" flow are the highlights.
Summary:
- Add driver-core infrastructure for lockdep validation of
device_lock(), and fixup a deadlock report that was previously
hidden behind the 'lockdep no validate' policy.
- Add CXL _OSC support for claiming native control of CXL hotplug and
error handling.
- Disable suspend in the presence of CXL memory unless and until a
protocol is identified for restoring PCI device context from memory
hosted on CXL PCI devices.

The _OSC method allows the OS and firmware to communicate about
supported features/capabitlities. It also allows the OS to take
control of some features.
In ACPI 6.4, s6.2.11.2 Platform-Wide OSPM Capabilities, the CPPC
(resp. v2) bit should be set by the OS if it 'supports controlling
processor performance via the interfaces described in the _CPC
object'.
The OS supports CPPC and parses the _CPC object only if
CONFIG_ACPI_CPPC_LIB is set. Replace the x86 specific
boot_cpu_has(X86_FEATURE_HWP) dynamic check with an arch
generic CONFIG_ACPI_CPPC_LIB build-time check.
Note:
CONFIG_X86_INTEL_PSTATE selects CONFIG_ACPI_CPPC_LIB.

ACPI 6.2 Section 6.2.11.2 'Platform-Wide OSPM Capabilities':
Starting with ACPI Specification 6.2, all _CPC registers can be in
PCC, System Memory, System IO, or Functional Fixed Hardware address
spaces. OSPM support for this more flexible register space scheme is
indicated by the “Flexible Address Space for CPPC Registers” _OSC bit
Otherwise (cf ACPI 6.1, s8.4.7.1.1.X), _CPC registers must be in:
- PCC or Functional Fixed Hardware address space if defined
- SystemMemory address space (NULL register) if not defined

During _OSC negotiation, when the 'Control' DWORD is needed from the
result buffer after running _OSC, a couple of places performed manual
pointer arithmetic to offset into the right spot in the raw buffer.
Add a acpi_osc_ctx_get_pci_control() helper to use the #define'd
DWORD offsets to fetch the DWORDs needed from @acpi_osc_context, and
replace the above instances of the open-coded arithmetic.

When walking the children of an ACPI device, take extra care to avoid
using to_acpi_device() on the ones that are not ACPI devices, because
that may lead to out-of-bounds access and memory corruption.
While at it, make the function passed to acpi_dev_for_each_child()
take a struct acpi_device pointer argument (instead of a struct device
one), so it is more straightforward to use.

If the platform firmware indicates that it does not support CPPC by
clearing the OSC_SB_CPC_SUPPORT and OSC_SB_CPCV2_SUPPORT bits in the
platform _OSC capabilities mask, avoid attempting to evaluate _CPC
which may fail in that case.
Because the OSC_SB_CPC_SUPPORT and OSC_SB_CPCV2_SUPPORT bits are only
added to the supported platform capabilities mask on x86, when
X86_FEATURE_HWP is supported, allow _CPC to be evaluated regardless
in the other cases.

Revert commit 159d8c274fd9 ("ACPI: Pass the same capabilities to the
_OSC regardless of the query flag") which caused legitimate usage
scenarios (when the platform firmware does not want the OS to control
certain platform features controlled by the system bus scope _OSC) to
break and was misguided by some misleading language in the _OSC
definition in the ACPI specification (in particular, Section 6.2.11.1.3
"Sequence of _OSC Calls" that contradicts other perts of the _OSC
definition).

ACPI for Arm Components 1.1 Platform Design Document v1.1 [0] specifices
Arm Generic Diagnostic Device Interface (AGDI). It allows an admin to
issue diagnostic dump and reset via an SDEI event or an interrupt.

From commit e147133a42cb ("ACPI / APEI: Make hest.c manage the estatus
memory pool") was merged, ghes_init() relies on acpi_hest_init() to manage
the estatus memory pool. On the other hand, ghes_init() relies on
sdei_init() to detect the SDEI version and (un)register events. The
dependencies are as follows:
ghes_init() => acpi_hest_init() => acpi_bus_init() => acpi_init()
ghes_init() => sdei_init()
HEST is not PCI-specific and initcall ordering is implicit and not
well-defined within a level.
Based on above, remove acpi_hest_init() from acpi_pci_root_init() and
convert ghes_init() and sdei_init() from initcalls to explicit calls in the
following order:
acpi_hest_init()
ghes_init()
sdei_init()

In order to avoid exposing acpi_bus_type to modules, introduce an
acpi_bus_for_each_dev() helper for iterating over all ACPI device
objects and make typec_link_ports() use it instead of the raw
bus_for_each_dev() along with acpi_bus_type.
Having done that, drop the acpi_bus_type export.
No intentional functional impact.

PCC OpRegion provides a mechanism to communicate with the platform
directly from the AML. PCCT provides the list of PCC channel available
in the platform, a subset or all of them can be used in PCC Opregion.
This patch registers the PCC OpRegion handler before ACPI tables are
loaded. This relies on the special context data passed to identify and
set up the PCC channel before the OpRegion handler is executed for the
first time.
Typical PCC Opregion declaration looks like this:

This buffer is received by acpi_pcc_opregion_space_handler. This
handler will fetch the complete buffer via internal_pcc_buffer.
The setup handler will receive the special PCC context data which will
contain the PCC channel index which used to set up the channel. The
buffer pointer and length is saved in region context which is then used
in the handler.

Currently, acpi_bus_get_status() calls acpi_device_always_present() to
allow platform quirks to override the _STA return to report that a
device is present (status = ACPI_STA_DEFAULT) independent of the _STA
return.
In some cases it might also be useful to have the opposite functionality
and have a platform quirk which marks a device as not present (status = 0)
to work around ACPI table bugs.
Change acpi_device_always_present() into a more generic
acpi_device_override_status() function to allow this.

The driver core ignores the return value of this callback because there
is only little it can do when a device disappears.
This is the final bit of a long lasting cleanup quest where several
buses were converted to also return void from their remove callback.
Additionally some resource leaks were fixed that were caused by drivers
returning an error code in the expectation that the driver won't go
away.
With struct bus_type::remove returning void it's prevented that newly
implemented buses return an ignored error code and so don't anticipate
wrong expectations for driver authors.

There is a name collision between acpi_device_notify() defined in
bus.c and another static function defined in glue.c.
Since the latter is going to be exported from that file, rename the
former to acpi_notify_device() and rename acpi_device_notify_fixed()
to follow the same naming pattern.
No functional impact.

If the OS confirms PRM (Platform Runtime Mechanism) support through
the \_SB._OSC PRM bit, the BIOS may start relying on the presence of
PRM support in the OS, so prevent the PRM bit from being set in the
\_SB._OSC capabilities bitmask when PRM support is not built in so
as to avoid confusing the BIOS in that case.

The ACPI Virtual I/O Translation Table describes topology of
para-virtual platforms, similarly to vendor tables DMAR, IVRS and IORT.
For now it describes the relation between virtio-iommu and the endpoints
it manages.
Three steps are needed to configure DMA of endpoints:
(1) acpi_viot_init(): parse the VIOT table, find or create the fwnode
associated to each vIOMMU device. This needs to happen after
acpi_scan_init(), because it relies on the struct device and their
fwnode to be available.
(2) When probing the vIOMMU device, the driver registers its IOMMU ops
within the IOMMU subsystem. This step doesn't require any
intervention from the VIOT driver.
(3) viot_iommu_configure(): before binding the endpoint to a driver,
find the associated IOMMU ops. Register them, along with the
endpoint ID, into the device's iommu_fwspec.
If step (3) happens before step (2), it is deferred until the IOMMU is
initialized, then retried.

Notice that the table field of struct acpi_table_events_work is never
read and its event field is always equal to ACPI_TABLE_EVENT_LOAD, so
both of them are redundant.
Accordingly, drop struct acpi_table_events_work and use struct
work_struct directly instead of it, simplify acpi_scan_table_handler()
and rename it to acpi_scan_table_notify().
Moreover, make acpi_bus_table_handler() check the event code against
ACPI_TABLE_EVENT_LOAD before calling acpi_scan_table_notify(), so it
is not necessary to do that check in the latter.
No intentional functional impact.

context->ret.pointer already gets set to NULL at the beginning of
acpi_run_osc() and it only gets assigned a new value in the success
path near the end of acpi_run_osc(), so the clearing of
context->ret.pointer (when status != AE_OK) at the end of
acpi_run_osc() is redundant since it will always already be NULL when
status != AE_OK.

Platform Runtime Mechanism (PRM) is a firmware interface that exposes
a set of binary executables that can either be called from the AML
interpreter or device drivers by bypassing the AML interpreter.
This change implements the AML interpreter path.
According to the specification [1], PRM services are listed in an
ACPI table called the PRMT. This patch parses module and handler
information listed in the PRMT and registers the PlatformRtMechanism
OpRegion handler before ACPI tables are loaded.
Each service is defined by a 16-byte GUID and called from writing a
26-byte ASL buffer containing the identifier to a FieldUnit object
defined inside a PlatformRtMechanism OperationRegion.

Byte offset 0 - 8 are written by the handler as a status passed back to AML
and used by ASL like so:

In this ASL code, PSTA contains a status from the OperationRegion and
USTA contains a status from the PRM service.
The 26-byte buffer is recieved by acpi_platformrt_space_handler. This
handler will look at the command value and the handler guid and take
the approperiate actions.

Commit 719e1f561afb ("ACPI: Execute platform _OSC also with query bit
clear") makes acpi_bus_osc_negotiate_platform_control() not only query
the platforms capabilities but it also commits the result back to the
firmware to report which capabilities are supported by the OS back to
the firmware
On certain systems the BIOS loads SSDT tables dynamically based on the
capabilities the OS claims to support. However, on these systems the
_OSC actually clears some of the bits (under certain conditions) so what
happens is that now when we call the _OSC twice the second time we pass
the cleared values and that results errors like below to appear on the
system log:

In addition the ACPI 6.4 spec says following [1]:
If the OS declares support of a feature in the Support Field in one
call to _OSC, then it must preserve the set state of that bit
(declaring support for that feature) in all subsequent calls.
Based on the above we can fix the issue by passing the same set of
capabilities to the platform wide _OSC in both calls regardless of the
query flag.
While there drop the context.ret.length checks which were wrong to begin
with (as the length is number of bytes not elements). This is already
checked in acpi_run_osc() that also returns an error in that case.

Although the system will not be in a good condition or it will not
boot if acpi_bus_init() fails, it is still necessary to put the
kobject in the error path before returning to avoid leaking memory.
