correctness" Revert commit b43eac6f3384 (ACPICA: iASL: change processing of external op namespace nodes for correctness; upstream ACPICA commit aa866a9b4f24bbec9f158d10325b486d7d12d90f). This was done in order to allow more relaxed usage of ASL external declarations. Signed-off-by: Erik Schmauss <erik.schmauss@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Rafael J. Wysocki <rafael.j.wysocki@intel.com>

2017-11-27ACPICA: iASL: change processing of external op namespace nodes for correctnessErik Schmauss1-0/+1
ACPICA commit aa866a9b4f24bbec9f158d10325b486d7d12d90f The declaration External (ABCD.EFGH) creates two nodes in the namespace: ABCD and EFGH where ABCD is marked as an implicit external node. ABCD is labeled as implicit because there does not exist a specific External (ABCD) declaration. Before this change, the declaration External (ABCD.EFGH) and External (ABCD.EFGH.IJKL) creates the namespace nodes ABCD, EFGH, and IJKL where ABCD and EFGH are labeled as implicit external nodes. This is incorrect. The only implicit node should be ABCD because EFGH and IJKL are explicit nodes. This change fixes the labeling procecess of external op namespace nodes so that nodes are properly labeled as implicit external. Due to this commit, the below ASL code results in a compilation error. definition_block ("DSDT.aml", "DSDT", 0x02, "INTEL", "BDW ", 0x0) { External(\_SB.PCI0.GFX0, device_obj) External(\_SB.PCI0.GFX0.ALSI) Scope(\_SB) { Device(PCI0) { Device(GFX0) { Name(_ADR, 0x00020000) } } } } Link: https://github.com/acpica/acpica/commit/aa866a9b Signed-off-by: Erik Schmauss <erik.schmauss@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Rafael J. 2016-01-01ACPICA: Debugger: reduce old external path formatLv Zheng1-1/+1
ACPICA commit 75c0da9e796bdf9bdd46d75f028a3e1779903214 In the error logs and debugger outputs, use new external path format that does not contain a trailing underscore. This patch takes care of acpi_ns_get_external_pathname() invocations, chaning them into acpi_ns_get_normalized_pathname(TRUE) where possible. Along with some error log fixes, the following debugger commands are fixed: resources, handlers, paths. Lv Zheng. 2015-07-02ACPICA: Namespace: Change namespace override to avoid node deletionBob Moore1-4/+19
ACPICA commit c0ce529e1fbb8ec47d2522a3aa10f3ab77e16e41 There is no reference counting implemented for struct acpi_namespace_node, so it is currently not removable during runtime. This patch changes the namespace override code to keep the old struct acpi_namespace_node undeleted so that the override mechanism can happen during runtime. Bob Moore. ACPICA commit 6084e34e44565c6293f446c0202b5e59b055e351 This patch adds an "NamespaceOverride" flag in struct acpi_walk_state, and allows namespace objects to be overridden when this flag is set. 2013-10-31ACPICA: Update check for setting the ANOBJ_IS_EXTERNAL flag.Lv Zheng1-1/+2
The ANOBJ_IS_EXTERNAL flag is only used by an ACPICA utilities - iASL. No functional change for the Linux kernel should results from applying this patch, but it helps to reduce source code differences between the kernel and ACPICA upstream. 2013-01-10ACPICA: Update codes under disabled build options.Lv Zheng1-0/+5
This is a cosmetic patch only. Comparison of the resulting binary showed only line number differences. This patch does not affect the generation of the Linux binary. This patch decreases 170 lines of 20121018 divergence.diff. This patch updates ACPICA codes surrounded by some disabled build options so that the source code diff between Linux and ACPICA can be reduced. Some of these build options may never be used in the kernel, so they may be deleted entirely in future patches. Signed-off-by: Lv Zheng <lv.zheng@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Rafael J. 2012-11-15Cleanup of invalid ACPI name handling and repairBob Moore1-16/+1
Implemented a change/cleanup for the handling of invalid ACPI names. Names are now validated and repaired only when 1) entering a new name into the namespace and 2) disassembling a named AML opcode. A warning is only displayed in debug mode or when the interpreter is in "strict" mode, since some working machines do in fact contain invalid ACPI names. Fixes issues like this: i_aSL -> iASL 00-7_f -> 00-7F local_fADT -> local_FADT execute_oSI -> execute_OSI Also, in function headers, the parameters are now translated to lower case (with underscores if necessary.) 2010-07-07ACPICA: Performance enhancement for namespace search and accessAlexey Starikovskiy1-13/+2
This change enhances the performance of namespace searches and walks by adding a backpointer to the parent in each namespace node. On large namespaces, this change can improve overall ACPI performance by up to 9X. Adding a pointer to each namespace node increases the overall size of the internal namespace by about 5%, since each namespace entry usually consists of both a namespace node and an ACPI operand object.
