2021-07-27s390/boot: make stacks part of the decompressor's imageAlexander Egorenkov4-17/+19
Instead of using constant addresses for the normal and dump-info stacks, allocate both stacks in the decompressor's image and load the stack register in a position-independent manner. This will allow loading and entering the decompressor at an arbitrary memory address without corrupting the content at the fixed addresses used until now for both stacks. This is one of the prerequisites for being able to kexec the decompressor from its load address without relocating it first. 2021-07-26printk: remove NMI trackingJohn Ogness2-3/+3
All NMI contexts are handled the same as the safe context: store the message and defer printing. There is no need to have special NMI context tracking for this. Using in_nmi() is enough. There are several parts of the kernel that are manually calling into the printk NMI context tracking in order to cause general printk deferred printing: arch/arm/kernel/smp.c arch/powerpc/kexec/crash.c kernel/trace/trace.c For arm/kernel/smp.c and powerpc/kexec/crash.c, provide a new function pair printk_deferred_enter/exit that explicitly achieves the same objective. For ftrace, remove the printk context manipulation completely. It was added in commit 03fc7f9c99c1 ("printk/nmi: Prevent deadlock when accessing the main log buffer in NMI"). The purpose was to enforce storing messages directly into the ring buffer even in NMI context. It really should have only modified the behavior in NMI context. There is no need for a special behavior any longer. All messages are always stored directly now. The console deferring is handled transparently in vprintk(). 2021-07-26printk: remove safe buffersJohn Ogness2-6/+0
With @logbuf_lock removed, the high level printk functions for storing messages are lockless. Messages can be stored from any context, so there is no need for the NMI and safe buffers anymore. Remove the NMI and safe buffers. Although the safe buffers are removed, the NMI and safe context tracking is still in place. In these contexts, store the message immediately but still use irq_work to defer the console printing. Since printk recursion tracking is in place, safe context tracking for most of printk is not needed. Remove it. Only safe context tracking relating to the console and console_owner locks is left in place. This is because the console and console_owner locks are needed for the actual printing. 2021-07-26ARM: dts: meson8b: ec100: wire up the RT5640 audio codecMartin Blumenstingl1-0/+44
The Realtek RT5640 codec is connected to the SoC's I2S interface. Describe this in the .dts together with the codec's LDO1 enable GPIO so audio can be played on the Endless Mini. While here, add a note about the realtek,ldo1-en-gpios for which the EC100 uses GPIO_BSD_EN. Due to driver limitations this pin cannot be used currently. Add the AIU audio controller to the Amlogic Meson6/8/8b/8m2 SoC DT. This provides I2S and SPDIF outputs as well as codec glues for the internal HDMI controller. 2021-07-26ARM: dts: meson8: Use a higher default GPU clock frequencyMartin Blumenstingl1-0/+5
We are seeing "imprecise external abort (0x1406)" errors during boot (which then cause the whole board to hang) on Meson8 (but not Meson8m2). These are observed while trying to access the GPU's registers when the MALI clock is running at it's default setting of 24MHz. The 3.10 vendor kernel uses 318.75MHz as "default" GPU frequency. Using that makes the "imprecise external aborts" go away. Add the assigned-clocks and assigned-clock-rates properties to also bump the MALI clock to 318.75MHz before accessing any of it's registers. While there is no publicly available schematic of this board, it's not hard to determine voltage of GPIO port C, D and G (only ones which can be set). Port C and G are used for MMC/SDIO communication, so they use 1.8 V power supply. It's not clear if port D is even used, but if it is, it's pretty safe to assume it uses 3.3 V power supply. Value read from PIO Group Withstand Voltage Mode Select register from within pre-installed Android agrees with that assesment. 2021-07-26alpha: Send stop IPI to send to online CPUsPrarit Bhargava1-1/+1
This issue was noticed while debugging a shutdown issue where some secondary CPUs are not being shutdown correctly. A fix for that [1] requires that secondary cpus be offlined using the cpu_online_mask so that the stop operation is a no-op if CPU HOTPLUG is disabled. I, like the author in [1] looked at the architectures and found that alpha is one of two architectures that executes smp_send_stop() on all possible CPUs. On alpha, smp_send_stop() sends an IPI to all possible CPUs but only needs to send them to online CPUs. Send the stop IPI to only the online CPUs. FlexCAN on i.MX8MP is not derived from i.MX6Q, instead reuses from i.MX8QM with extra ECC added and default is enabled, so that the FlexCAN would be put into freeze mode without FLEXCAN_QUIRK_DISABLE_MECR quirk. Had a bug when converting bytes to bits when the cpu was rv32. The a3 contains the number of bytes and multiple of 8 would be the bits. The LGREG is holding 2 for RV32 and 3 for RV32, so to achieve multiple of 8 it must always be constant 3. The 2 was mistakenly used for rv32. There were two causes for the overrun memory access. The threshold size was too small. The aligning dst require one SZREG and unrolling word copy requires 8*SZREG, total have to be at least 9*SZREG. Inside the unrolling copy, the subtracting -(8*SZREG-1) would make iteration happening one extra loop. Proper value is -(8*SZREG). 2021-07-24s390/pv: fix the forcing of the swiotlbHalil Pasic1-1/+1
Since commit 903cd0f315fe ("swiotlb: Use is_swiotlb_force_bounce for swiotlb data bouncing") if code sets swiotlb_force it needs to do so before the swiotlb is initialised. Otherwise io_tlb_default_mem->force_bounce will not get set to true, and devices that use (the default) swiotlb will not bounce despite switolb_force having the value of SWIOTLB_FORCE. Let us restore swiotlb functionality for PV by fulfilling this new requirement. This change addresses what turned out to be a fragility in commit 64e1f0c531d1 ("s390/mm: force swiotlb for protected virtualization"), which ain't exactly broken in its original context, but could give us some more headache if people backport the broken change and forget this fix.
