2016-07-21powerpc: Move 32-bit probe() machine to later in the boot processBenjamin Herrenschmidt1-3/+1
This converts all the 32-bit platforms to use the expanded device-tree which is a pretty mechanical change. Unlike 64-bit, the 32-bit kernel didn't rely on platform initializations to setup the MMU since it sets it up entirely before probe_machine() so the move has comparatively less consequences though it's a bigger patch. 2016-07-14powerpc: Make ppc_md.{halt, restart} __noreturnDaniel Axtens1-1/+1
powernv marks it's halt and restart calls as __noreturn. However, ppc_md does not have this annotation. Add the annotation to ppc_md, and then to every halt/restart function that is missing it. Additionally, I have verified that all of these functions do not return. Occasionally I have added a spin loop to be sure. 2014-08-09lib/scatterlist: make ARCH_HAS_SG_CHAIN an actual KconfigLaura Abbott1-0/+1
Rather than have architectures #define ARCH_HAS_SG_CHAIN in an architecture specific scatterlist.h, make it a proper Kconfig option and use that instead. At same time, remove the header files are are now mostly useless and just include asm-generic/scatterlist.h. 2011-06-09pcspkr: Cleanup Kconfig dependenciesRalf Baechle1-1/+1
Lenghty lists of the kind "depends on ARCH1 || ARCH2 ... || ARCH123" are usually either wrong or too coarse grained. Or plain an ugly sin. 2010-08-01of/address: Clean up function declarationsGrant Likely1-1/+2
This patch moves the declaration of of_get_address(), of_get_pci_address(), and of_pci_address_to_resource() out of arch code and into the common linux/of_address header file. This patch also fixes some of the asm/prom.h ordering issues. It still includes some header files that it ideally shouldn't be, but at least the ordering is consistent now so that of_* overrides work. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca>

2009-03-11powerpc/kconfig: Kill PPC_MULTIPLATFORMBenjamin Herrenschmidt1-1/+1
CONFIG_PPC_MULTIPLATFORM is a remain of the pre-powerpc days and isn't really meaningful anymore. It was basically equivalent to PPC64 || 6xx. This removes it along with the following changes: - 32-bit platforms that relied on PPC32 && PPC_MULTIPLATFORM now rely on 6xx which is what they want anyway. - A new symbol, PPC_BOOK3S, is defined that represent compliance with the "Server" variant of the architecture. This is set when either 6xx or PPC64 is set and open the door for future BOOK3E 64-bit. - 64-bit platforms that relied on PPC64 && PPC_MULTIPLATFORM now use PPC64 && PPC_BOOK3S - A separate and selectable CONFIG_PPC_OF_BOOT_TRAMPOLINE option is now used to control the use of prom_init.c Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>
2009-02-11powerpc/amigaone: Add platform support for AmigaOneGerhard Pircher3-0/+189
This commit adds the setup code for booting Linux on AmigaOne G3SE (G3 only), AmigaOne XE and uA1 (G3/G4) desktop computers. These boards were sold by Eyetech and are based on MAI Logic's Teron boards and its Articia S northbridge. The AmigaOne uses U-boot as firmware, which doesn't support a flattened device tree yet. The northbridge has some design flaws, which makes it necessary to use non cacheable memory for DMA operations (CONFIG_NOT_COHERENT_CACHE) and to avoid setting the coherence (M) flag for memory pages.
