2020-12-03powerpc/boot: Make use of REL16 relocs in powerpc/boot/util.SAlan Modra1-6/+3
Use bcl 20,31,0f rather than plain bl to avoid unbalancing the link stack. Update the code to use REL16 relocs, available for ppc64 in 2009 (and ppc32 in 2005). 2020-10-08powerpc: Remove support for PowerPC 601Christophe Leroy1-14/+1
PowerPC 601 has been retired. Remove all associated specific code. CPU_FTRS_PPC601 has CPU_FTR_COHERENT_ICACHE and CPU_FTR_COMMON. CPU_FTR_COMMON is already present via other CPU_FTRS. None of the remaining CPU selects CPU_FTR_COHERENT_ICACHE. So CPU_FTRS_PPC601 can be removed from the possible features, hence can be removed completely. 2019-05-30treewide: Replace GPLv2 boilerplate/reference with SPDX - rule 152Thomas Gleixner1-6/+1
Based on 1 normalized pattern(s): this program is free software you can redistribute it and or modify it under the terms of the gnu general public license as published by the free software foundation either version 2 of the license or at your option any later version extracted by the scancode license scanner the SPDX license identifier GPL-2.0-or-later has been chosen to replace the boilerplate/reference in 3029 file(s). 2017-08-10powerpc/time: refactor MFTB() to limit number of ifdefsChristophe Leroy1-19/+5
The 8xx cannot access the TBL and TBU registers using mfspr/mtspr It must be accessed using mftb/mftbu Due to this, there is a number of places with #ifdef CONFIG_8xx This patch defines new macros MFTBL(x) and MFTBU(x) on the same model as MFTB(x) and tries to make use of them as much as possible. In arch/powerpc/include/asm/timex.h, we also remove the ifdef for the asm() operands as the compiler doesn't mind unused operands Signed-off-by: Christophe Leroy <christophe.leroy@c-s.fr> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2014-04-23powerpc: No need to use dot symbols when branching to a functionAnton Blanchard1-2/+2
binutils is smart enough to know that a branch to a function descriptor is actually a branch to the functions text address. Alan tells me that binutils has been doing this for 9 years. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org>
2013-11-23powerpc/8xx: mfspr SPRN_TBRx in lieu of mftb/mftbu is not supportedLEROY Christophe1-0/+14
Commit beb2dc0a7a84be003ce54e98b95d65cc66e6e536 breaks the MPC8xx which seems to not support using mfspr SPRN_TBRx instead of mftb/mftbu despite what is written in the reference manual. This patch reverts to the use of mftb/mftbu when CONFIG_8xx is selected. Signed-off-by: Christophe Leroy <christophe.leroy@c-s.fr> Signed-off-by: Scott Wood <scottwood@freescale.com>
2013-08-21powerpc: Convert some mftb/mftbu into mfsprScott Wood1-5/+5
Some CPUs (such as e500v1/v2) don't implement mftb and will take a trap. mfspr should work on everything that has a timebase, and is the preferred instruction according to ISA v2.06. Currently we get away with mftb on 85xx because the assembler converts it to mfspr due to -Wa,-me500. However, that flag has other effects that are undesireable for certain targets (e.g. lwsync is converted to sync), and is hostile to multiplatform kernels. Thus we would like to stop setting it for all e500-family builds. mftb/mftbu instances which are in 85xx code or common code are converted. Instances which will never run on 85xx are left alone. 2006-10-23[POWERPC] Add non-OF serial console supportMark A. Greer1-0/+88
Add serial console support for non-OF systems. There is a generic serial console layer which calls a serial console driver. Included is the serial console driver for the ns16550 class of uarts. Necessary support routines are added as well. Signed-off-by: Mark A. Greer <mgreer@mvista.com> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
