2011-12-30procfs: do not confuse jiffies with cputime64_tAndreas Schwab1-0/+1
Commit 2a95ea6c0d129b4 ("procfs: do not overflow get_{idle,iowait}_time for nohz") did not take into account that one some architectures jiffies and cputime use different units. This causes get_idle_time() to return numbers in the wrong units, making the idle time fields in /proc/stat wrong. Instead of converting the usec value returned by get_cpu_{idle,iowait}_time_us to units of jiffies, use the new function usecs_to_cputime64 to convert it to the correct unit of cputime64_t. 2011-11-10net: add wireless TX status socket optionJohannes Berg1-0/+3
The 802.1X EAPOL handshake hostapd does requires knowing whether the frame was ack'ed by the peer. Currently, we fudge this pretty badly by not even transmitting the frame as a normal data frame but injecting it with radiotap and getting the status out of radiotap monitor as well. This is rather complex, confuses users (mon.wlan0 presence) and doesn't work with all hardware. To get rid of that hack, introduce a real wifi TX status option for data frame transmissions. This works similar to the existing TX timestamping in that it reflects the SKB back to the socket's error queue with a SCM_WIFI_STATUS cmsg that has an int indicating ACK status (0/1). Since it is possible that at some point we will want to have TX timestamping and wifi status in a single errqueue SKB (there's little point in not doing that), redefine SO_EE_ORIGIN_TIMESTAMPING to SO_EE_ORIGIN_TXSTATUS which can collect more than just the timestamp; keep the old constant as an alias of course. Currently the internal APIs don't make that possible, but it wouldn't be hard to split them up in a way that makes it possible. Thanks to Neil Horman for helping me figure out the functions that add the control messages. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com> Signed-off-by: John W. 2011-10-21iommu/core: Convert iommu_found to iommu_presentJoerg Roedel1-1/+2
With per-bus iommu_ops the iommu_found function needs to work on a bus_type too. This patch adds a bus_type parameter to that function and converts all call-places. The function is also renamed to iommu_present because the function now checks if an iommu is present for a given bus and does not check for a global iommu anymore. 2011-08-03Add Kconfig option ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHGHuang Ying1-0/+1
cmpxchg() is widely used by lockless code, including NMI-safe lockless code. But on some architectures, the cmpxchg() implementation is not NMI-safe, on these architectures the lockless code may need a spin_trylock_irqsave() based implementation. This patch adds a Kconfig option: ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHG, so that NMI-safe lockless code can depend on it or provide different implementation according to it. On many architectures, cmpxchg is only NMI-safe for several specific operand sizes. So, ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHG define in this patch only guarantees cmpxchg is NMI-safe for sizeof(unsigned long). 2011-07-27atomic: cleanup asm-generic atomic*.h inclusionArun Sharma1-1/+0
After changing all consumers of atomics to include <linux/atomic.h>, we ran into some compile time errors due to this dependency chain: linux/atomic.h -> asm/atomic.h -> asm-generic/atomic-long.h where atomic-long.h could use funcs defined later in linux/atomic.h without a prototype. 2011-07-24modules: make arch's use default loader hooksJonas Bonn1-16/+0
This patch removes all the module loader hook implementations in the architecture specific code where the functionality is the same as that now provided by the recently added default hooks. 2011-07-23virtio: expose for non-virtualization users tooOhad Ben-Cohen1-1/+0
virtio has been so far used only in the context of virtualization, and the virtio Kconfig was sourced directly by the relevant arch Kconfigs when VIRTUALIZATION was selected. Now that we start using virtio for inter-processor communications, we need to source the virtio Kconfig outside of the virtualization scope too. Moreover, some architectures might use virtio for both virtualization and inter-processor communications, so directly sourcing virtio might yield unexpected results due to conflicting selections. The simple solution offered by this patch is to always source virtio's Kconfig in drivers/Kconfig, and remove it from the appropriate arch Kconfigs. Additionally, a virtio menu entry has been added so virtio drivers don't show up in the general drivers menu. This way anyone can use virtio, though it's arguably less accessible (and neat!) for virtualization users now. Note: some architectures (mips and sh) seem to have a VIRTUALIZATION menu merely for sourcing virtio's Kconfig, so that menu is removed too. 2011-07-22clocksource: Change __ARCH_HAS_CLOCKSOURCE_DATA to a CONFIG optionH. Peter Anvin2-2/+3
The machinery for __ARCH_HAS_CLOCKSOURCE_DATA assumed a file in asm-generic would be the default for architectures without their own file in asm/, but that is not how it works. 2011-07-21treewide: fix potentially dangerous trailing ';' in #defined values/expressionsPhil Carmody1-1/+1
All these are instances of #define NAME value; or #define NAME(params_opt) value; These of course fail to build when used in contexts like if(foo $OP NAME) while(bar $OP NAME) and may silently generate the wrong code in contexts such as foo = NAME + 1; /* foo = value; + 1; */ bar = NAME - 1; /* bar = value; - 1; */ baz = NAME & quux; /* baz = value; & quux; */ Reported on comp.lang.c, Message-ID: <ab0d55fe-25e5-482b-811e-c475aa6065c3@c29g2000yqd.googlegroups.com> Initial analysis of the dangers provided by Keith Thompson in that thread. There are many more instances of more complicated macros having unnecessary trailing semicolons, but this pile seems to be all of the cases of simple values suffering from the problem. (Thus things that are likely to be found in one of the contexts above, more complicated ones aren't.) 2011-06-21x86/ia64: intel-iommu: move to drivers/iommu/Ohad Ben-Cohen1-21/+0
This should ease finding similarities with different platforms, with the intention of solving problems once in a generic framework which everyone can use. Note: to move intel-iommu.c, the declaration of pci_find_upstream_pcie_bridge() has to move from drivers/pci/pci.h to include/linux/pci.h. This is handled in this patch, too. As suggested, also drop DMAR's EXPERIMENTAL tag while we're at it. Compile-tested on x86_64. Signed-off-by: Ohad Ben-Cohen <ohad@wizery.com> Signed-off-by: Joerg Roedel <joerg.roedel@amd.com>
