2022-07-22ARM: cns3xxx: add CONFIG_UNUSED_BOARD_FILES dependencyArnd Bergmann1-1/+1
Krzysztof Halasa has kept the cns3xxx platform working for a long time but has moved away from working on it. The OpenWRT port was dropped in 2020, and support for the Gateworks Laguna platform never made it into the mainline kernel, which only supports the reference design. Further, the ARM11MPCore has an unresolved issue with instruction cache coherency, and removing support for the remaining platforms using this core would be the easiest solution. Mark the entire platform as unused now, to be removed in early 2023 if no users show up. 2022-07-22ARM: add ATAGS dependencies to non-DT platformsArnd Bergmann1-0/+1
There are a total of eight platforms that only suppor ATAGS based boot with board files but no devicetree booting. For dove, the DT support is part of the mvebu platform, which shares driver but no code in arch/arm. Most of these will never get converted to DT, and the majority of the board files appear to be entirely unused already. There are still known users on a few machines, and there may be interest in converting some omap1, ep93xx or footbridge machines over in the future. For the moment, just add a Kconfig dependency to hide these platforms completely when CONFIG_ATAGS is disabled, and reorder the priority of the options: Rather than offering to turn ATAGS off for platforms that have DT support, make it a top-level setting that determines which platforms are visible. The s3c24xx platform supports one machine with DT support, but it cannot be built without also including ATAGS support, and the entire platform is scheduled for removal, so leaving the entire platform behind a dependency seems good enough. All defconfig files should keep working, as the option remains default enabled. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>

2020-03-27ARM: cns3xxx: replace setup_irq() by request_irq()afzal mohammed1-7/+3
request_irq() is preferred over setup_irq(). Invocations of setup_irq() occur after memory allocators are ready. Per tglx[1], setup_irq() existed in olden days when allocators were not ready by the time early interrupts were initialized. Hence replace setup_irq() by request_irq(). 2019-02-01ARM: cns3xxx: Use actual size reads for PCIeKoen Vandeputte1-1/+1
commit 802b7c06adc7 ("ARM: cns3xxx: Convert PCI to use generic config accessors") reimplemented cns3xxx_pci_read_config() using pci_generic_config_read32(), which preserved the property of only doing 32-bit reads. It also replaced cns3xxx_pci_write_config() with pci_generic_config_write(), so it changed writes from always being 32 bits to being the actual size, which works just fine. Given that: - The documentation does not mention that only 32 bit access is allowed. - Writes are already executed using the actual size - Extensive testing shows that 8b, 16b and 32b reads work as intended Allow read access of any size by replacing pci_generic_config_read32() with the pci_generic_config_read() accessors. 2019-02-01ARM: cns3xxx: Fix writing to wrong PCI config registers after alignmentKoen Vandeputte1-1/+1
Originally, cns3xxx used its own functions for mapping, reading and writing config registers. Commit 802b7c06adc7 ("ARM: cns3xxx: Convert PCI to use generic config accessors") removed the internal PCI config write function in favor of the generic one: cns3xxx_pci_write_config() --> pci_generic_config_write() cns3xxx_pci_write_config() expected aligned addresses, being produced by cns3xxx_pci_map_bus() while the generic one pci_generic_config_write() actually expects the real address as both the function and hardware are capable of byte-aligned writes. This currently leads to pci_generic_config_write() writing to the wrong registers. For instance, upon ath9k module loading: - driver ath9k gets loaded - The driver wants to write value 0xA8 to register PCI_LATENCY_TIMER, located at 0x0D - cns3xxx_pci_map_bus() aligns the address to 0x0C - pci_generic_config_write() effectively writes 0xA8 into register 0x0C (CACHE_LINE_SIZE) Fix the bug by removing the alignment in the cns3xxx mapping function. 2017-11-02License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no licenseGreg Kroah-Hartman2-0/+2
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. 2015-12-02ARM: use "depends on" for SoC configs instead of "if" after promptMasahiro Yamada1-1/+2
Many ARM sub-architectures use prompts followed by "if" conditional, but it is wrong. Please notice the difference between config ARCH_FOO bool "Foo SoCs" if ARCH_MULTI_V7 and config ARCH_FOO bool "Foo SoCs" depends on ARCH_MULTI_V7 These two are *not* equivalent! In the former statement, it is not ARCH_FOO, but its prompt that depends on ARCH_MULTI_V7. So, it is completely valid that ARCH_FOO is selected by another, but ARCH_MULTI_V7 is still disabled. As it is not unmet dependency, Kconfig never warns. This is probably not what you want. The former should be used only when you need to do so, and you really understand what you are doing. (In most cases, it should be wrong!) For enabling/disabling sub-architectures, the latter is always correct. As a good side effect, this commit fixes some entries over 80 columns (mach-imx, mach-integrator, mach-mbevu). 2015-10-08ARM: cns3xxx: pci: avoid potential stack overflowArnd Bergmann1-41/+30
The cns3xxx_pcie_hw_init function uses excessive kernel stack space because of a hack that puts a fake struct pci_sys_data and struct pci_bus on the stack in order to call the generic pci_bus_read_config accessors, which causes a warning in ARM allmodconfig builds: arch/arm/mach-cns3xxx/pcie.c:266:1: warning: the frame size of 1080 bytes is larger than 1024 bytes I've spent a few hours trying to find out what exactly this code is wants to achieve here. The obvious part is setting up the host_regs using config space accessors, and this can simply be changed to use direct MMIO accesses, as I do in this patch. The second part is how the driver sets up the Max_Read_Request_Size value for the first device/function on bus 1, i.e. the device plugged directly into the PCIe root port. For all I can tell, this is in fact incomplete, as it does not perform the same setting on devices attached to a PCIe switch, or multi-function devices. The solution for this part fortunately is even easier: if we just set the global pcie_bus_config variable to PCIE_BUS_PEER2PEER, all PCIe devices in the system are limited to 128 byte MPS, which in turn limits the MRRS to 128 bytes for all devices, and we no longer even need to touch any devices. With those two changes in place, we no longer need the fake pci_sys_data/pci_bus structures for faking config space writes, and the stack usage goes down as well. This patch reworks the host controller control data structure and adds a domain equivalent field named port in it so that the dependency on pci_sys_data domain field can be eventually removed. 2014-09-26CNS3xxx: Fix logical PCIe topology.Krzysztof Hałasa1-15/+14
Without this patch, each root port and the device connected directly to it seem to be located on a shared (virtual) bus #0. It creates problems with enabling devices (the PCI code doesn't know that the root bridge must be enabled in order to access other devices). The PCIe topology shown by lspci doesn't reflect reality, e.g.: 0000:00:00.0 PCI bridge: Cavium Networks Device 3400 0000:00:01.0 PCI bridge: Texas Instruments XIO2001 PCI Express-to-PCI Bridge 0000:02:... 0001:00:00.0 PCI bridge: Cavium Networks Device 3400 (for the second lane/bus) -+-[0001:00]---00.0-[01]-- \-[0000:00]-+-00.0-[01]-- | ^^^^ root bridge \-01.0-[02]----... ^^^^ first external device With this patch, the first external PCIe device is connected to bus #1 (behind the root bridge). -+-[0001:00]---00.0-[01]-- \-[0000:00]---00.0-[01-02]----------00.0-[02]----... ^^^^ root bridge ^^^^ first external device Signed-off-by: Krzysztof Hałasa <khalasa@piap.pl> Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>

Pull ARM updates from Russell King: - Major clean-up of the L2 cache support code. The existing mess was becoming rather unmaintainable through all the additions that others have done over time. This turns it into a much nicer structure, and implements a few performance improvements as well. - Clean up some of the CP15 control register tweaks for alignment support, moving some code and data into alignment.c - DMA properties for ARM, from Santosh and reviewed by DT people. This adds DT properties to specify bus translations we can't discover automatically, and to indicate whether devices are coherent. - Hibernation support for ARM - Make ftrace work with read-only text in modules - add suspend support for PJ4B CPUs - rework interrupt masking for undefined instruction handling, which allows us to enable interrupts earlier in the handling of these exceptions. - support for big endian page tables - fix stacktrace support to exclude stacktrace functions from the trace, and add save_stack_trace_regs() implementation so that kprobes can record stack traces. - Add support for the Cortex-A17 CPU. - Remove last vestiges of ARM710 support. - Removal of ARM "meminfo" structure, finally converting us solely to memblock to handle the early memory initialisation. * 'for-linus' of git://ftp.arm.linux.org.uk/~rmk/linux-arm: (142 commits) ARM: ensure C page table setup code follows assembly code (part II) ARM: ensure C page table setup code follows assembly code ARM: consolidate last remaining open-coded alignment trap enable ARM: remove global cr_no_alignment ARM: remove CPU_CP15 conditional from alignment.c ARM: remove unused adjust_cr() function ARM: move "noalign" command line option to alignment.c ARM: provide common method to clear bits in CPU control register ARM: 8025/1: Get rid of meminfo ARM: 8060/1: mm: allow sub-architectures to override PCI I/O memory type ARM: 8066/1: correction for ARM patch 8031/2 ARM: 8049/1: ftrace/add save_stack_trace_regs() implementation ARM: 8065/1: remove last use of CONFIG_CPU_ARM710 ARM: 8062/1: Modify ldrt fixup handler to re-execute the userspace instruction ARM: 8047/1: rwsem: use asm-generic rwsem implementation ARM: l2c: trial at enabling some Cortex-A9 optimisations ARM: l2c: add warnings for stuff modifying aux_ctrl register values ARM: l2c: print a warning with L2C-310 caches if the cache size is modified ARM: l2c: remove old .set_debug method ARM: l2c: kill L2X0_AUX_CTRL_MASK before anyone else makes use of this ...

2014-03-17CNS3xxx: Fix PCIe early iotable_init().Krzysztof Hałasa2-73/+64
This patch fixes the following BUG: > kernel BUG at mm/vmalloc.c:1132! > PC is at vm_area_add_early+0x20/0x84 > LR is at add_static_vm_early+0xc/0x60 > > The problem is cns3xxx_pcie_init() (device_initcall) calls the "early" > iotable_init(). Instead of merely calling the PCIe iotable_init() from machine_desc->map_io(), this patch adds the required mappings to the main CNS3xxx mapping table. This means we don't convert .pfn back to virtual addresses in pcie.c. The size of the address space consumed for PCIe control is reduced from 96 MiB (6 * 16 MiB) to about 32 MiB (this doesn't include MMIO address space required by PCI devices): - Size of the PCIe "host" mapping is reduced from 16 MiB to 4 KiB. It's a PCI configuration address space for the local (on-chip) PCIe bridge. - Size of the "CFG0" mapping is reduced from 16 MiB to 64 KiB. It's for Type 0 Configuration accesses, i.e., accesses to the single device (with possible "functions") on the other end of the PCIe link. We really only need a 4 KiB page at 0x8000 (see the offset calculation in cns3xxx_pci_cfg_base()). There is still a potential problem with PCI bus numbers > 0xF, are they supported? - The code in cns3xxx_pci_cfg_base() and cns3xxx_pcie_hw_init() should be clearer now. - The maximum address space allocated for PCI MMIO is now correctly shown in /proc/iomem as 176 MiB (per each of the two PCI "domains" - previously only 16 MiB were reserved).
