2013-10-29of/irq: create interrupts-extended propertyGrant Likely1-6/+23
The standard interrupts property in device tree can only handle interrupts coming from a single interrupt parent. If a device is wired to multiple interrupt controllers, then it needs to be attached to a node with an interrupt-map property to demux the interrupt specifiers which is confusing. It would be a lot easier if there was a form of the interrupts property that allows for a separate interrupt phandle for each interrupt specifier. This patch does exactly that by creating a new interrupts-extended property which reuses the phandle+arguments pattern used by GPIOs and other core bindings. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-fs into linux-next Pull fs-cache fixes from David Howells: Can you pull these commits to fix an issue with NFS whereby caching can be enabled on a file that is open for writing by subsequently opening it for reading. This can be made to crash by opening it for writing again if you're quick enough. The gist of the patchset is that the cookie should be acquired at inode creation only and subsequently enabled and disabled as appropriate (which dispenses with the backing objects when they're not needed). The extra synchronisation that NFS does can then be dispensed with as it is thenceforth managed by FS-Cache. Could you send these on to Linus? This likely will need fixing also in CIFS and 9P also once the FS-Cache changes are upstream. AFS and Ceph are probably safe. * 'fscache' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-fs: NFS: Use i_writecount to control whether to get an fscache cookie in nfs_open() FS-Cache: Provide the ability to enable/disable cookies FS-Cache: Add use/unuse/wake cookie wrappers

2013-10-27ima: enable support for larger default filedata hash algorithmsMimi Zohar1-1/+5
The IMA measurement list contains two hashes - a template data hash and a filedata hash. The template data hash is committed to the TPM, which is limited, by the TPM v1.2 specification, to 20 bytes. The filedata hash is defined as 20 bytes as well. Now that support for variable length measurement list templates was added, the filedata hash is not limited to 20 bytes. This patch adds Kconfig support for defining larger default filedata hash algorithms and replacing the builtin default with one specified on the kernel command line. <uapi/linux/hash_info.h> contains a list of hash algorithms. The Kconfig default hash algorithm is a subset of this list, but any hash algorithm included in the list can be specified at boot, using the 'ima_hash=' kernel command line option. Changelog v2: - update Kconfig Changelog: - support hashes that are configured - use generic HASH_ALGO_ definitions - add Kconfig support - hash_setup must be called only once (Dmitry) - removed trailing whitespaces (Roberto Sassu) Signed-off-by: Mimi Zohar <zohar@us.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Roberto Sassu <roberto.sassu@polito.it>

2013-10-26ima: new templates management mechanismRoberto Sassu2-0/+89
The original 'ima' template is fixed length, containing the filedata hash and pathname. The filedata hash is limited to 20 bytes (md5/sha1). The pathname is a null terminated string, limited to 255 characters. To overcome these limitations and to add additional file metadata, it is necessary to extend the current version of IMA by defining additional templates. The main reason to introduce this feature is that, each time a new template is defined, the functions that generate and display the measurement list would include the code for handling a new format and, thus, would significantly grow over time. This patch set solves this problem by separating the template management from the remaining IMA code. The core of this solution is the definition of two new data structures: a template descriptor, to determine which information should be included in the measurement list, and a template field, to generate and display data of a given type. To define a new template field, developers define the field identifier and implement two functions, init() and show(), respectively to generate and display measurement entries. Initially, this patch set defines the following template fields (support for additional data types will be added later):  - 'd': the digest of the event (i.e. the digest of a measured file),         calculated with the SHA1 or MD5 hash algorithm;  - 'n': the name of the event (i.e. the file name), with size up to         255 bytes;  - 'd-ng': the digest of the event, calculated with an arbitrary hash            algorithm (field format: [<hash algo>:]digest, where the digest            prefix is shown only if the hash algorithm is not SHA1 or MD5);  - 'n-ng': the name of the event, without size limitations. Defining a new template descriptor requires specifying the template format, a string of field identifiers separated by the '|' character. This patch set defines the following template descriptors:  - "ima": its format is 'd|n';  - "ima-ng" (default): its format is 'd-ng|n-ng' Further details about the new template architecture can be found in Documentation/security/IMA-templates.txt. Changelog: - don't defer calling ima_init_template() - Mimi - don't define ima_lookup_template_desc() until used - Mimi - squashed with documentation patch - Mimi Signed-off-by: Roberto Sassu <roberto.sassu@polito.it> Signed-off-by: Mimi Zohar <zohar@linux.vnet.ibm.com>
2013-10-26cpufreq: Implement light weight ->target_index() routineViresh Kumar2-11/+20
Currently, the prototype of cpufreq_drivers target routines is: int target(struct cpufreq_policy *policy, unsigned int target_freq, unsigned int relation); And most of the drivers call cpufreq_frequency_table_target() to get a valid index of their frequency table which is closest to the target_freq. And they don't use target_freq and relation after that. So, it makes sense to just do this work in cpufreq core before calling cpufreq_frequency_table_target() and simply pass index instead. But this can be done only with drivers which expose their frequency table with cpufreq core. For others we need to stick with the old prototype of target() until those drivers are converted to expose frequency tables. This patch implements the new light weight prototype for target_index() routine. It looks like this: int target_index(struct cpufreq_policy *policy, unsigned int index); CPUFreq core will call cpufreq_frequency_table_target() before calling this routine and pass index to it. Because CPUFreq core now requires to call routines present in freq_table.c CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_TABLE must be enabled all the time. This also marks target() interface as deprecated. So, that new drivers avoid using it. And Documentation is updated accordingly. It also converts existing .target() to newly defined light weight .target_index() routine for many driver. We can now enable VERBOSE_DEBUG on builds of drivers/usb/gadget/ by selecting CONFIG_USB_GADGET_VERBOSE. s3c-hsotg got quite a few non-critical fixes but also learned a few new tricks (isochronous transfers, multi count support). The Marvel USB3 Controller driver got a memory leak fix. devm_usb_get_phy() learned not to return NULL, ever. Other than these patches, we have the usual set of cleanups ranging from removal of unnecessary *_set_drvdata() to using SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS. Signed-of-by: Felipe Balbi <balbi@ti.com>
2013-10-24s390/s390dbf: add debug_level_enabled() functionHendrik Brueckner1-0/+10
Add the debug_level_enabled() function to check if debug events for a particular level would be logged. This might help to save cycles for debug events that require additional information collection. 2013-10-24Docs: arm64: booting: clarify boot requirementsMark Rutland1-14/+31
There are a few points in the arm64 booting document which are unclear (such as the initial state of secondary CPUs), and/or have not been documented (PSCI is a supported mechanism for booting secondary CPUs). This patch amends the arm64 boot document to better express the (existing) requirements, and to describe PSCI as a supported booting mechanism.
