2021-08-06dt-bindings: phy: mediatek: tphy: add support hardware version 3Chunfeng Yun1-5/+9
The PHYA architecture is updated, and doesn't support slew rate calibration anymore on 7nm or advanced process, add a new version number to support it. Due to the FreqMeter bank is not used but reserved, it's backward with v2 until now. For mt8195, no function changes when use generic v2 or v3 compatible, but prefer to use v3's compatible, it will not waste the time to calibrate the slew rate, and also correspond with hardware version. General Electric Healthcare's PPD has a secondary processor from NXP's Kinetis K20 series. That device has two SPI chip selects: The main interface's behaviour depends on the loaded firmware and is currently unused. The secondary interface can be used to update the firmware using EzPort protocol. This is implemented by this driver using the kernel's firmware API. The firmware is being flashed into non-volatile flash memory, so it is enough to flash it once and not on every boot. Flashing will wear the flash memory (it has a life time of at least 10k programming cycles). At the same time only occasional FW updates are expected (like e.g. a BIOS update). Thus the firmware update is triggered via sysfs instead of doing it in the driver's probe routine like many other drivers. Do not suggest it is used to tell the maximum pixel rate on the bus anymore. - Improve ReST syntax (plain struct and function names). - Remove the suggestion to use s_power() in receiver drivers. - Make MIPI website URL use HTTPS, add Wikipedia links to BT.601 and BT.656. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mkl/linux-can-next Marc Kleine-Budde says: ==================== pull-request: can-next 2021-08-04 this is a pull request of 5 patches for net-next/master. The first patch is by me and fixes a typo in a comment in the CAN J1939 protocol. The next 2 patches are by Oleksij Rempel and update the CAN J1939 protocol to send RX status updates via the error queue mechanism. The next patch is by me and adds a missing variable initialization to the flexcan driver (the problem was introduced in the current net-next cycle). The last patch is by Aswath Govindraju and adds power-domains to the Bosch m_can DT binding documentation. ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2021-08-03f2fs: add sysfs node to control ra_pages for fadvise seq fileDaeho Jeong1-0/+6
fadvise() allows the user to expand the readahead window to double with POSIX_FADV_SEQUENTIAL, now. But, in some use cases, it is not that sufficient and we need to meet the need in a restricted way. We can control the multiplier value of bdi device readahead between 2 (default) and 256 for POSIX_FADV_SEQUENTIAL advise option. 2021-08-03f2fs: introduce discard_unit mount optionChao Yu1-0/+8
As James Z reported in bugzilla: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=213877 [1.] One-line summary of the problem: Mount multiple SMR block devices exceed certain number cause system non-response [2.] Full description of the problem/report: Created some F2FS on SMR devices (mkfs.f2fs -m), then mounted in sequence. Each device is the same Model: HGST HSH721414AL (Size 14TB). Empirically, found that when the amount of SMR device * 1.5Gb > System RAM, the system ran out of memory and hung. No dmesg output. For example, 24 SMR Disk need 24*1.5GB = 36GB. A system with 32G RAM can only mount 21 devices, the 22nd device will be a reproducible cause of system hang. The number of SMR devices with other FS mounted on this system does not interfere with the result above. [3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel): F2FS, SMR, Memory [4.] Kernel information [4.1.] Kernel version (uname -a): Linux 5.13.4-200.fc34.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Jul 20 20:27:29 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux [4.2.] Kernel .config file: Default Fedora 34 with f2fs-tools-1.14.0-2.fc34.x86_64 [5.] Most recent kernel version which did not have the bug: None [6.] Output of Oops.. message (if applicable) with symbolic information resolved (see Documentation/admin-guide/oops-tracing.rst) None [7.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the problem (if possible) mount /dev/sdX /mnt/0X [8.] Memory consumption With 24 * 14T SMR Block device with F2FS free -g total used free shared buff/cache available Mem: 46 36 0 0 10 10 Swap: 0 0 0 With 3 * 14T SMR Block device with F2FS free -g total used free shared buff/cache available Mem: 7 5 0 0 1 1 Swap: 7 0 7 The root cause is, there are three bitmaps: - cur_valid_map - ckpt_valid_map - discard_map and each of them will cost ~500MB memory, {cur, ckpt}_valid_map are necessary, but discard_map is optional, since this bitmap will only be useful in mountpoint that small discard is enabled. For a blkzoned device such as SMR or ZNS devices, f2fs will only issue discard for a section(zone) when all blocks of that section are invalid, so, for such device, we don't need small discard functionality at all. This patch introduces a new mountoption "discard_unit=block|segment| section" to support issuing discard with different basic unit which is aligned to block, segment or section, so that user can specify "discard_unit=segment" or "discard_unit=section" to disable small discard functionality. Note that this mount option can not be changed by remount() due to related metadata need to be initialized during mount(). In order to save memory, let's use "discard_unit=section" for blkzoned device by default. Signed-off-by: Chao Yu <chao@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Jaegeuk Kim <jaegeuk@kernel.org>
2021-08-03arm64/cpufeature: Optionally disable MTE via command-lineYee Lee1-0/+3
MTE support needs to be optionally disabled in runtime for HW issue workaround, FW development and some evaluation works on system resource and performance. This patch makes two changes: (1) moves init of tag-allocation bits(ATA/ATA0) to cpu_enable_mte() as not cached in TLB. (2) allows ID_AA64PFR1_EL1.MTE to be overridden on its shadow value by giving "arm64.nomte" on cmdline. When the feature value is off, ATA and TCF will not set and the related functionalities are accordingly suppressed.
