2018-08-22ata: libahci_platform: add reset control supportKunihiko Hayashi1-0/+1
Add support to get and control a list of resets for the device as optional and shared. These resets must be kept de-asserted until the device is enabled. This is specified as shared because some SoCs like UniPhier series have common reset controls with all ahci controller instances. However, according to Thierry's view, https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-ide/msg55357.html some hardware-specific drivers already use their own resets, and the common reset make a path to occur double controls of resets. The ahci_platform_get_resources() can get and control the reset only when the second argument includes AHCI_PLATFORM_GET_RESETS bit. 2018-07-25dt-bindings: remove 'interrupt-parent' from bindingsRob Herring2-3/+0
'interrupt-parent' is often documented as part of define bindings, but it is really outside the scope of a device binding. It's never required in a given node as it is often inherited from a parent node. Or it can be implicit if a parent node is an 'interrupt-controller' node. So remove it from all the binding files. This reverts commit f0f56716fc3e5d547fd7811eb218a30ed0695605. According to Thierry's view, https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-ide/msg55357.html some hardware-specific drivers already use their own resets, and the common reset might make a path to occur double controls of resets. For now, revert the commit that adds reset control support to ahci-platform, and hold until the solution is confirmed not be affect all hardware-specific drivers. 2017-07-15ata: sata_rcar: add gen[23] fallback compatibility stringsSimon Horman1-3/+11
Add fallback compatibility string for R-Car Gen 2 and 3. In the case of Renesas R-Car hardware we know that there are generations of SoCs, e.g. Gen 1 and 2. But beyond that its not clear what the relationship between IP blocks might be. For example, I believe that r8a7790 is older than r8a7791 but that doesn't imply that the latter is a descendant of the former or vice versa. We can, however, by examining the documentation and behaviour of the hardware at run-time observe that the current driver implementation appears to be compatible with the IP blocks on SoCs within a given generation. For the above reasons and convenience when enabling new SoCs a per-generation fallback compatibility string scheme being adopted for drivers for Renesas SoCs. This adds device tree bindings for the Faraday Technology FTIDE010 found in the Storlink/Storm/Cortina Systems Gemini SoC. I am not 100% sure that this part is from Faraday Technology but a lot points in that direction: - A later IDE interface called FTIDE020 exist and share some properties. - The SATA bridge has the same Built In Self Test (BIST) that the Faraday FTSATA100 seems to have, and it has version number 0100 in the device ID register, so this is very likely a FTSATA100 bundled with the FTIDE010. 2016-04-20dt-bindings: tegra: Rename some bindings for consistencyThierry Reding1-0/+0
Device tree binding for NVIDIA Tegra have traditionally carried the "nvidia," vendor prefix in the filename. A couple of odd ones don't, so fix them up for consistency. Also rename existing bindings to reflect the first compatible value that they document. This wasn't done consistently either. 2016-04-01ata: ahci-platform: Add ports-implemented DT bindings.Srinivas Kandagatla1-0/+4
On some SOCs PORTS_IMPL register value is never programmed by the firmware and left at zero value. Which means that no sata ports are available for software. AHCI driver used to cope up with this by fabricating the port_map if the PORTS_IMPL register is read zero, but recent patch broke this workaround as zero value was valid for NVMe disks. This patch adds ports-implemented DT bindings as workaround for this issue in a way that DT can can override the PORTS_IMPL register in cases where the firmware did not program it already. This reverts commit 5163fb62541e ("ahci: added support for Freescale AHCI sata") The reverted patch added Freescale QorIQ AHCI sata support to ahci_platform driver though, but it left SoC specific settings to uboot. It leads to QorIQ sata heavily depending on uboot. In order to removing the dependency we first revert the old patch and then will add a new driver for QorIQ SATA. Since there are no LS* platforms that have been upstreamed, So the revert would not break anything exists.
