2012-07-22sctp: Implement quick failover draft from tsvwgNeil Horman10-15/+221
I've seen several attempts recently made to do quick failover of sctp transports by reducing various retransmit timers and counters. While its possible to implement a faster failover on multihomed sctp associations, its not particularly robust, in that it can lead to unneeded retransmits, as well as false connection failures due to intermittent latency on a network. Instead, lets implement the new ietf quick failover draft found here: http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-nishida-tsvwg-sctp-failover-05 This will let the sctp stack identify transports that have had a small number of errors, and avoid using them quickly until their reliability can be re-established. I've tested this out on two virt guests connected via multiple isolated virt networks and believe its in compliance with the above draft and works well. Fix race condition in several network drivers when reading stats on 32bit UP architectures. These drivers update their stats in a BH context and therefore should use u64_stats_fetch_begin_bh/u64_stats_fetch_retry_bh instead of u64_stats_fetch_begin/u64_stats_fetch_retry when reading the stats. This warning recently appeared with omap2plus_defconfig: WARNING: drivers/spi/built-in.o(.devinit.text+0x3c4): Section mismatch in reference from the function omap2_mcspi_probe() to the function .init.text:omap2_mcspi_master_setup() The function __devinit omap2_mcspi_probe() references a function __init omap2_mcspi_master_setup(). If omap2_mcspi_master_setup is only used by omap2_mcspi_probe then annotate omap2_mcspi_master_setup with a matching annotation. The fix is obviously to mark the omap2_mcspi_master_setup function as __devinit, rather than __init. 2012-07-22workqueue: fix spurious CPU locality WARN from process_one_work()Tejun Heo1-0/+6
25511a4776 "workqueue: reimplement CPU online rebinding to handle idle workers" added CPU locality sanity check in process_one_work(). It triggers if a worker is executing on a different CPU without UNBOUND or REBIND set. This works for all normal workers but rescuers can trigger this spuriously when they're serving the unbound or a disassociated global_cwq - rescuers don't have either flag set and thus its gcwq->cpu can be a different value including %WORK_CPU_UNBOUND. 2012-07-22kthread_worker: reimplement flush_kthread_work() to allow freeing the work ↵Tejun Heo2-27/+29
item being executed kthread_worker provides minimalistic workqueue-like interface for users which need a dedicated worker thread (e.g. for realtime priority). It has basic queue, flush_work, flush_worker operations which mostly match the workqueue counterparts; however, due to the way flush_work() is implemented, it has a noticeable difference of not allowing work items to be freed while being executed. While the current users of kthread_worker are okay with the current behavior, the restriction does impede some valid use cases. Also, removing this difference isn't difficult and actually makes the code easier to understand. There are many userland reports of sensors with unreasonably small and large temperatures. There seem to be several reasons for this: Firstly, the major sensor type (sp78) is actually a signed number. This explains why some sensors show very small or large values - they are in fact all small, but of different sign. Secondly, the other sensor type (1-hex) is not properly understood; it may be that it is not a temperature after all. Thirdly, some sensors are differential in nature, showing changes over time rather than absolute numbers. This explains why those values are small and of varying sign. This patch interprets the sp78 type as signed short, but keeps the original scaling. For other types, -EINVAL is returned, since the nature of those sensors is unknown. The current code is quite tricky, and and it is easy to rearrage the code to make the warning disappear. So fix it. 2012-07-22hwmon: (applesmc) Shorten minimum wait timeHenrik Rydberg1-1/+1
The 2012 series of MacBooks have a faster SMC, and the current driver timings do not work at all. Tests show that decreasing the minimum wait time, from 64 us to 16 us, works well. Since this is still larger than the original minimum of 10 us used before 2008, there is nothing inherently problematic with changing it. The fail frequency on older machines seems to increase slightly, but not enough to be noticeable. Tested on MBA11, MBA31, MBA5,2, MBP9,2. The patch was originally written by adamski99 (ubuntuforums.org) and later tested by janhouse (bbs.archlinux.org). Fix Coverity warning: Calling strncpy with a maximum size argument of 20 bytes on destination array "data->name" of size 20 bytes might leave the destination string unterminated.
