2019-09-25libperf: Add perf_evlist__poll() functionJiri Olsa1-0/+1
Move perf_evlist__poll() from tools/perf to libperf, it will be used in the following patches. And rename the existing perf's function to evlist__poll(). 2019-09-25libperf: Merge libperf_set_print() into libperf_init()Jiri Olsa1-1/+0
The libperf_set_print() function needs to be called in any case so let's merge it with libperf_init(), so we have just one init function. 2019-09-25libperf: Move 'page_size' global variable to libperfJiri Olsa1-0/+1
We need the 'page_size' variable in libperf, so move it there. Add a libperf_init() as a global libperf init function to obtain this value via sysconf() at tool start. Committer notes: Add internal/lib.h to tools/perf/ files using 'page_size', sometimes replacing util.h with it if that was the only reason for having util.h included. 2019-07-30libperf: Adopt simplified perf_evlist__open()/close() functions from tools/perfJiri Olsa1-0/+2
Add the following functions: perf_evlist__open() perf_evlist__close() It's a simplified version of perf's evlist__open() without the sampling id index calculations. We can try to merge it in the future when we need it in some new libperf user. Also adopt some helper evlist traversing macros. In the future we can remove them from util/evlist.h, but that requires also some other changes. 2019-07-30libperf: Adopt simplified perf_evsel__open() function from tools/perfJiri Olsa1-0/+1
Add a perf_evsel__open() function to libperf. It's a simplified version of evsel__open() without the fallback mechanism. We can try to merge it in the future to libperf, but it has many details, lets start simple, requiring the latest kernel, perf should continue using its evsel__open() version, continuing to support running on older kernels when possible. 2019-07-30libperf: Add build version supportJiri Olsa1-0/+4
Add a shared library version, generating the following files: $ ll tools/perf/lib/libperf.so* libperf.so -> libperf.so.0.0.1 libperf.so.0 -> libperf.so.0.0.1 libperf.so.0.0.1 Committer testing: One has to build just libbperf to get this, building perf so far doesn't trigger this, i.e. I tried: $ make O=/tmp/build/perf -C tools/perf And the files above were not created, so one has to do: $ make O=/tmp/build/perf -C tools/perf/lib/ make: Entering directory '/home/acme/git/perf/tools/perf/lib' LINK /tmp/build/perf/libperf.so.0.0.1 make: Leaving directory '/home/acme/git/perf/tools/perf/lib' $ ls -la /tmp/build/perf/*.so.* lrwxrwxrwx. 1 acme acme 16 Jul 22 15:37 /tmp/build/perf/libperf.so.0 -> libperf.so.0.0.1 -rwxrwxr-x. 1 acme acme 16368 Jul 22 15:37 /tmp/build/perf/libperf.so.0.0.1 $ Signed-off-by: Jiri Olsa <jolsa@kernel.org> Tested-by: Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo <acme@redhat.com> Cc: Alexander Shishkin <alexander.shishkin@linux.intel.com> Cc: Alexey Budankov <alexey.budankov@linux.intel.com> Cc: Andi Kleen <ak@linux.intel.com> Cc: Michael Petlan <mpetlan@redhat.com> Cc: Namhyung Kim <namhyung@kernel.org> Cc: Peter Zijlstra <peterz@infradead.org> Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/20190721112506.12306-25-jolsa@kernel.org Signed-off-by: Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo <acme@redhat.com>
