2021-04-29perf jit: Let convert_timestamp() to be backwards-compatibleLeo Yan1-0/+2
Commit d110162cafc80dad ("perf tsc: Support cap_user_time_short for event TIME_CONV") supports the extended parameters for event TIME_CONV, but it broke the backwards compatibility, so any perf data file with old event format fails to convert timestamp. This patch introduces a helper event_contains() to check if an event contains a specific member or not. For the backwards-compatibility, if the event size confirms the extended parameters are supported in the event TIME_CONV, then copies these parameters. 2021-04-29perf tools: Change fields type in perf_record_time_convLeo Yan1-2/+3
C standard claims "An object declared as type _Bool is large enough to store the values 0 and 1", bool type size can be 1 byte or larger than 1 byte. Thus it's uncertian for bool type size with different compilers. This patch changes the bool type in structure perf_record_time_conv to __u8 type, and pads extra bytes for 8-byte alignment; this can give reliable structure size. 2021-04-15libperf: Add evsel mmap supportRob Herring1-0/+3
In order to support usersapce access, an event must be mmapped. While there's already mmap support for evlist, the usecase is a bit different than the self monitoring with userspace access. So let's add new perf_evsel__mmap()/perf_evsel_munmap() functions to mmap/munmap an evsel. This allows implementing userspace access as a fastpath for perf_evsel__read(). The mmapped address is returned by perf_evsel__mmap_base() which primarily for users/tests to check if userspace access is enabled. When processing a PERF_RECORD_MMAP2 metadata event, check on the build id misc bit: PERF_RECORD_MISC_MMAP_BUILD_ID and if it is set, store the build id in mmap's dso object. 2020-10-14perf tools: Add size to 'struct perf_record_header_build_id'Jiri Olsa1-1/+11
We do not store size with build ids in perf data, but there's enough space to do it. Adding misc bit PERF_RECORD_MISC_BUILD_ID_SIZE to mark build id event with size. With this fix the dso with md5 build id will have correct build id data and will be usable for debuginfod processing if needed (coming in following patches). 2020-09-22perf tsc: Support cap_user_time_short for event TIME_CONVLeo Yan1-0/+4
The synthesized event TIME_CONV doesn't contain the complete parameters for counters, this will lead to wrong conversion between counter cycles and timestamp. This patch extends event TIME_CONV to record flags 'cap_user_time_zero' which is used to indicate the counter parameters are valid or not, if not will directly return 0 for timestamp calculation. And record the flag 'cap_user_time_short' and its relevant fields 'time_cycles' and 'time_mask' for cycle calibration.
