Connect AVS driver with ASoC HDAudio codec with help of this machine board. Similarly to its platform and codec components, DAI links and routes are being created dynamically so single board can be used across all HDAudio codec types. Card makes use of "binder" BE DAI Link so HDAudio codec driver can be listed as one of its components. This allows for BE DAIs to be created dynamically, based on HDAudio codec capabilities. In rare occasions, under stress conditions or hardware malfunction, DSP firmware may fail. Software is notified about such situation with EXCEPTION_CAUGHT notification. IPC timeout is also counted as critical device failure. More often than not, driver can recover from such situations by performing full reset: killing and restarting ADSP. Compared to SKL and KBL, more recent cAVS platforms are meant to re-use one of HDAudio streams during boot procedure causing CLDMA to become obsolete. Once transferred, given stream is returned to pool available for audio streaming. Module loading handler is stub as library and module code became inseparable in later firmware generations. devices" from Pierre-Louis Bossart <pierre-louis.bossart@linux.intel.com>: The module snd-intel-dspcfg, suggested by Jaroslav last year, currently provide the means to select a PCI driver at run-time, based on quirks, recommendations or user selection via a kernel parameter. This capability removed a lot of confusions in distributions and removed the need for recompilations to select legacy HDaudio, SST or SOF drivers. This patchset extends the concept to ACPI devices. This was driven by the desire to at some point deprecate the Atom/SST driver for Baytrail and Cherrytrail, which is no longer maintained by Intel. By having the SOF driver enabled by distributions for Baytrail/Cherrytrail, we can enable more end-user tests and make the transition easier for distributions (likely in 2021 at this point). This patchset provides the same solution for Broadwell, mainly to have a single build for all Intel platforms. SOF on Broadwell remains an option not recommended for distributions, as long as the 'catpt' driver is maintained there is no burning desire to make SOF the default on the three Broadwell-based platforms with the DSP enabled. SND_SST_IPC and its _PCI and _ACPI variants all target sound/soc/intel/atom solution alone. SND_SST_IPC is the core component, required for PCI and ACPI based atom platforms both. _PCI and _ACPI target Merrifield/Edison and Baytrial/Cherrytrail platforms respectively. On top of that, there is an equivalent set of configs targeting the same solution: - SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM (core) - SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM_PCI - SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM_ACPI As both sets do the same job - allow for granular platform selection - remove the duplicate set and rely on SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATOFRM_XXX configs alone. sound/soc/intel/baytrail is a niche solution which supports limited number of BYT products - as described by snd_soc_acpi_intel_baytrail_legacy_machines table. For a long time it's deprecated in favor of sound/soc/intel/atom solution with SOF providing support for some products too effectively rendering /baytrail/ redundant. Remove deprecated code from ASoC tree. For distributions, we need one place where we can decide which driver will be activated for the auto-configation of the Intel's HDA hardware with DSP. Actually, we cover three drivers: * Legacy HDA * Intel SST * Intel Sound Open Firmware (SOF) All those drivers registers similar PCI IDs, so the first driver probed from the PCI stack can win. But... it is not guaranteed that the correct driver wins. This commit changes Intel's NHLT ACPI module to a common DSP probe module for the Intel's hardware. All above sound drivers calls this code. The user can force another behaviour using the module parameter 'dsp_driver' located in the 'snd-intel-dspcfg' module. This change allows to add specific dmi checks for the specific systems. We should only select SND_INTEL_NHLT when ACPI is defined. This was done for the legacy HDAudio driver but not for DSP-enabled cases, leading to compilation errors with randconfig. Fix by aligning on the same solution. For the Skylake driver this is overkill since there is a top-level dependency on ACPI, but it doesn't hurt and it's better to have consistency. The current SKYLAKE kconfig is a all-you-can-eat selection that will support all known plaforms. This is however not necessarily a good thing: most platforms for SKL and KBL don't support the DSP, but a number of CNL/WHL ones do. Selecting this driver in all cases isn't really smart and will require users to muck with blacklists. Partition the configs to allow distributions to select on which platform this driver is used. Keep the existing SND_SOC_INTEL_SKYLAKE config to select everything for backwards compatibility. This patch does not provide new functionality, only finer-grained choices in supported platforms. 2018-11-20ASoC: Intel: Skylake: fix Kconfigs, make HDaudio codec optionalPierre-Louis Bossart1-3/+23
The Skylake driver currently has a set of problems supporting load/unload modules. We need to make the HDaudio codec support optional to help narrow down the issues. Support for HDaudio codecs also leads to a Kconfig issue. We want the hdac_hda codec to be compilable independently of Skylake (e.g. with ALL_CODECS) but when Skylake is selected as built-in the hdac_hda codec needs to use the same option due a a code dependency Solve both problems by adding a user-selectable boolean Kconfig, select HDAC_HDA as needed and make the HDaudio codec support in the Skylake driver optional. Tests on a Chell Chromebook device without HDaudio show no regression for speaker and HDMI playback. This is submitted as an RFC to allow for comments and more validation. is enabled The sound/soc/intel/common/sst-acpi.c code only tries to load the "baytrail-pcm-audio" driver (and supporting board drivers) when SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM is not enabled, since otherwise these are handled by snd-soc-sst-atom-hifi2-platform.ko. Since these thus will never be used when SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM is enabled, building these drivers when it is enabled is useless. Add a Kconfig dependency to reflect this, so that SND_SOC_INTEL_BAYTRAIL cannot be enabled when SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM is also enabled. To avoid breaking existing solutions with the semantics change, SND_SST_ATOM_HIFI2_PLATFORM_ACPI uses "default ACPI" so that "make oldnoconfig" and "make olddefconfig" still work as expected. 2018-01-26ASoC: Intel: Skylake: Add ssp clock driverSriram Periyasamy1-0/+3
For certain platforms, it is required to start the clocks (mclk/sclk/fs) before the stream start. Example: for few chrome systems, codec needs the mclk/sclk to be enabled early for a successful clock synchronization and for few IVI platforms, clock need to be enabled at boot and should be ON always. Add the required structures and create set_dma_control ipc to enable or disable the clock. To enable sclk without fs, mclk ipc structure is used, else sclkfs ipc structure is used. Clock prepare/unprepare are used to enable/disable the clock as the IPC will be sent in non-atomic context. The clk set_dma_control IPC structures are populated during the set_rate callback and IPC is sent to enable the clock during prepare callback. This patch creates virtual clock driver, which allows the machine driver to use the clock interface to send IPCs to DSP to enable/disable the clocks.
