2024-05-30ipv6: sr: fix invalid unregister error pathHangbin Liu1-0/+2
[ Upstream commit 160e9d2752181fcf18c662e74022d77d3164cd45 ] The error path of seg6_init() is wrong in case CONFIG_IPV6_SEG6_LWTUNNEL is not defined. In that case if seg6_hmac_init() fails, the genl_unregister_family() isn't called. This issue exist since commit 46738b1317e1 ("ipv6: sr: add option to control lwtunnel support"), and commit 5559cea2d5aa ("ipv6: sr: fix possible use-after-free and null-ptr-deref") replaced unregister_pernet_subsys() with genl_unregister_family() in this error path. 2024-05-30net: ipv6: fix wrong start position when receive hop-by-hop fragmentgaoxingwang1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit 1cd354fe1e4864eeaff62f66ee513080ec946f20 ] In IPv6, ipv6_rcv_core will parse the hop-by-hop type extension header and increase skb->transport_header by one extension header length. But if there are more other extension headers like fragment header at this time, the skb->transport_header points to the second extension header, not the transport layer header or the first extension header. This will result in the start and nexthdrp variable not pointing to the same position in ipv6frag_thdr_trunced, and ipv6_skip_exthdr returning incorrect offset and frag_off.Sometimes,the length of the last sharded packet is smaller than the calculated incorrect offset, resulting in packet loss. We can use network header to offset and calculate the correct position to solve this problem. 2024-05-30udp: Avoid call to compute_score on multiple sitesGabriel Krisman Bertazi1-4/+16
[ Upstream commit 50aee97d15113b95a68848db1f0cb2a6c09f753a ] We've observed a 7-12% performance regression in iperf3 UDP ipv4 and ipv6 tests with multiple sockets on Zen3 cpus, which we traced back to commit f0ea27e7bfe1 ("udp: re-score reuseport groups when connected sockets are present"). The failing tests were those that would spawn UDP sockets per-cpu on systems that have a high number of cpus. Unsurprisingly, it is not caused by the extra re-scoring of the reused socket, but due to the compiler no longer inlining compute_score, once it has the extra call site in udp4_lib_lookup2. This is augmented by the "Safe RET" mitigation for SRSO, needed in our Zen3 cpus. We could just explicitly inline it, but compute_score() is quite a large function, around 300b. Inlining in two sites would almost double udp4_lib_lookup2, which is a silly thing to do just to workaround a mitigation. Instead, this patch shuffles the code a bit to avoid the multiple calls to compute_score. Since it is a static function used in one spot, the compiler can safely fold it in, as it did before, without increasing the text size. With this patch applied I ran my original iperf3 testcases. The failing cases all looked like this (ipv4): iperf3 -c 127.0.0.1 --udp -4 -f K -b $R -l 8920 -t 30 -i 5 -P 64 -O 2 where $R is either 1G/10G/0 (max, unlimited). 2024-05-17xfrm: Preserve vlan tags for transport mode software GROPaul Davey1-1/+5
[ Upstream commit 58fbfecab965014b6e3cc956a76b4a96265a1add ] The software GRO path for esp transport mode uses skb_mac_header_rebuild prior to re-injecting the packet via the xfrm_napi_dev. This only copies skb->mac_len bytes of header which may not be sufficient if the packet contains 802.1Q tags or other VLAN tags. Worse copying only the initial header will leave a packet marked as being VLAN tagged but without the corresponding tag leading to mangling when it is later untagged. The VLAN tags are important when receiving the decrypted esp transport mode packet after GRO processing to ensure it is received on the correct interface. Therefore record the full mac header length in xfrm*_transport_input for later use in corresponding xfrm*_transport_finish to copy the entire mac header when rebuilding the mac header for GRO. The skb->data pointer is left pointing skb->mac_header bytes after the start of the mac header as is expected by the network stack and network and transport header offsets reset to this location. 2024-05-17net: gro: fix udp bad offset in socket lookup by adding ↵Richard Gobert3-2/+5
{inner_}network_offset to napi_gro_cb [ Upstream commit 5ef31ea5d053a8f493a772ebad3f3ce82c35d845 ] Commits a602456 ("udp: Add GRO functions to UDP socket") and 57c67ff ("udp: additional GRO support") introduce incorrect usage of {ip,ipv6}_hdr in the complete phase of gro. The functions always return skb->network_header, which in the case of encapsulated packets at the gro complete phase, is always set to the innermost L3 of the packet. That means that calling {ip,ipv6}_hdr for skbs which completed the GRO receive phase (both in gro_list and *_gro_complete) when parsing an encapsulated packet's _outer_ L3/L4 may return an unexpected value. This incorrect usage leads to a bug in GRO's UDP socket lookup. udp{4,6}_lib_lookup_skb functions use ip_hdr/ipv6_hdr respectively. These *_hdr functions return network_header which will point to the innermost L3, resulting in the wrong offset being used in __udp{4,6}_lib_lookup with encapsulated packets. This patch adds network_offset and inner_network_offset to napi_gro_cb, and makes sure both are set correctly. To fix the issue, network_offsets union is used inside napi_gro_cb, in which both the outer and the inner network offsets are saved. [ Upstream commit 7633c4da919ad51164acbf1aa322cc1a3ead6129 ] Although ipv6_get_ifaddr walks inet6_addr_lst under the RCU lock, it still means hlist_for_each_entry_rcu can return an item that got removed from the list. The memory itself of such item is not freed thanks to RCU but nothing guarantees the actual content of the memory is sane. In particular, the reference count can be zero. This can happen if ipv6_del_addr is called in parallel. ipv6_del_addr removes the entry from inet6_addr_lst (hlist_del_init_rcu(&ifp->addr_lst)) and drops all references (__in6_ifa_put(ifp) + in6_ifa_put(ifp)). With bad enough timing, this can happen: 1. In ipv6_get_ifaddr, hlist_for_each_entry_rcu returns an entry. 2. Then, the whole ipv6_del_addr is executed for the given entry. The reference count drops to zero and kfree_rcu is scheduled. 3. ipv6_get_ifaddr continues and tries to increments the reference count (in6_ifa_hold). 4. The rcu is unlocked and the entry is freed. 5. The freed entry is returned. Prevent increasing of the reference count in such case. 2024-04-10udp: do not transition UDP GRO fraglist partial checksums to unnecessaryAntoine Tenart1-7/+1
commit f0b8c30345565344df2e33a8417a27503589247d upstream. UDP GRO validates checksums and in udp4/6_gro_complete fraglist packets are converted to CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY to avoid later checks. However this is an issue for CHECKSUM_PARTIAL packets as they can be looped in an egress path and then their partial checksums are not fixed. 2024-04-10udp: do not accept non-tunnel GSO skbs landing in a tunnelAntoine Tenart1-1/+1
commit 3d010c8031e39f5fa1e8b13ada77e0321091011f upstream. When rx-udp-gro-forwarding is enabled UDP packets might be GROed when being forwarded. If such packets might land in a tunnel this can cause various issues and udp_gro_receive makes sure this isn't the case by looking for a matching socket. This is performed in udp4/6_gro_lookup_skb but only in the current netns. This is an issue with tunneled packets when the endpoint is in another netns. In such cases the packets will be GROed at the UDP level, which leads to various issues later on. The same thing can happen with rx-gro-list. We saw this with geneve packets being GROed at the UDP level. In such case gso_size is set; later the packet goes through the geneve rx path, the geneve header is pulled, the offset are adjusted and frag_list skbs are not adjusted with regard to geneve. When those skbs hit skb_fragment, it will misbehave. Different outcomes are possible depending on what the GROed skbs look like; from corrupted packets to kernel crashes. One example is a BUG_ON[1] triggered in skb_segment while processing the frag_list. Because gso_size is wrong (geneve header was pulled) skb_segment thinks there is "geneve header size" of data in frag_list, although it's in fact the next packet. The BUG_ON itself has nothing to do with the issue. This is only one of the potential issues. Looking up for a matching socket in udp_gro_receive is fragile: the lookup could be extended to all netns (not speaking about performances) but nothing prevents those packets from being modified in between and we could still not find a matching socket. It's OK to keep the current logic there as it should cover most cases but we also need to make sure we handle tunnel packets being GROed too early. 2024-04-10ipv6: Fix infinite recursion in fib6_dump_done().Kuniyuki Iwashima1-7/+7
commit d21d40605bca7bd5fc23ef03d4c1ca1f48bc2cae upstream. syzkaller reported infinite recursive calls of fib6_dump_done() during netlink socket destruction. [1] From the log, syzkaller sent an AF_UNSPEC RTM_GETROUTE message, and then the response was generated. The following recvmmsg() resumed the dump for IPv6, but the first call of inet6_dump_fib() failed at kzalloc() due to the fault injection. (fail_nth: 8) Here, fib6_dump_done() was set to nlk_sk(sk)->cb.done, and the next call of inet6_dump_fib() set it to nlk_sk(sk)->cb.args[3]. syzkaller stopped receiving the response halfway through, and finally netlink_sock_destruct() called nlk_sk(sk)->cb.done(). fib6_dump_done() calls fib6_dump_end() and nlk_sk(sk)->cb.done() if it is still not NULL. fib6_dump_end() rewrites nlk_sk(sk)->cb.done() by nlk_sk(sk)->cb.args[3], but it has the same function, not NULL, calling itself recursively and hitting the stack guard page. To avoid the issue, let's set the destructor after kzalloc(). 2024-04-10inet: inet_defrag: prevent sk release while still in useFlorian Westphal1-1/+1
[ Upstream commit 18685451fc4e546fc0e718580d32df3c0e5c8272 ] ip_local_out() and other functions can pass skb->sk as function argument. If the skb is a fragment and reassembly happens before such function call returns, the sk must not be released. This affects skb fragments reassembled via netfilter or similar modules, e.g. openvswitch or ct_act.c, when run as part of tx pipeline. Eric Dumazet made an initial analysis of this bug. Quoting Eric: Calling ip_defrag() in output path is also implying skb_orphan(), which is buggy because output path relies on sk not disappearing. A relevant old patch about the issue was : 8282f27449bf ("inet: frag: Always orphan skbs inside ip_defrag()") [..] net/ipv4/ip_output.c depends on skb->sk being set, and probably to an inet socket, not an arbitrary one. If we orphan the packet in ipvlan, then downstream things like FQ packet scheduler will not work properly. We need to change ip_defrag() to only use skb_orphan() when really needed, ie whenever frag_list is going to be used. Eric suggested to stash sk in fragment queue and made an initial patch. However there is a problem with this: If skb is refragmented again right after, ip_do_fragment() will copy head->sk to the new fragments, and sets up destructor to sock_wfree. IOW, we have no choice but to fix up sk_wmem accouting to reflect the fully reassembled skb, else wmem will underflow. This change moves the orphan down into the core, to last possible moment. As ip_defrag_offset is aliased with sk_buff->sk member, we must move the offset into the FRAG_CB, else skb->sk gets clobbered. This allows to delay the orphaning long enough to learn if the skb has to be queued or if the skb is completing the reasm queue. In the former case, things work as before, skb is orphaned. This is safe because skb gets queued/stolen and won't continue past reasm engine. In the latter case, we will steal the skb->sk reference, reattach it to the head skb, and fix up wmem accouting when inet_frag inflates truesize. 2024-03-27ipv6: fib6_rules: flush route cache when rule is changedShiming Cheng1-0/+6
[ Upstream commit c4386ab4f6c600f75fdfd21143f89bac3e625d0d ] When rule policy is changed, ipv6 socket cache is not refreshed. The sock's skb still uses a outdated route cache and was sent to a wrong interface. To avoid this error we should update fib node's version when rule is changed. Then skb's route will be reroute checked as route cache version is already different with fib node version. The route cache is refreshed to match the latest rule. 2024-02-22Fix write to cloned skb in ipv6_hop_ioam()Justin Iurman1-0/+10
ioam6_fill_trace_data() writes inside the skb payload without ensuring it's writeable (e.g., not cloned). This function is called both from the input and output path. The output path (ioam6_iptunnel) already does the check. This commit provides a fix for the input path, inside ipv6_hop_ioam(). It also updates ip6_parse_tlv() to refresh the network header pointer ("nh") when returning from ipv6_hop_ioam(). When SOF_TIMESTAMPING_OPT_ID is used to ambiguate timestamped datagrams, the sk_tskey can become unpredictable in case of any error happened during sendmsg(). Move increment later in the code and make decrement of sk_tskey in error path. This solution is still racy in case of multiple threads doing snedmsg() over the very same socket in parallel, but still makes error path much more predictable. On a parisc64 kernel I sometimes notice this kernel warning: Kernel unaligned access to 0x40ff8814 at ndisc_send_skb+0xc0/0x4d8 The address 0x40ff8814 points to the in6addr_linklocal_allrouters variable and the warning simply means that some ipv6 function tries to read a 64-bit word directly from the not-64-bit aligned in6addr_linklocal_allrouters variable. Unaligned accesses are non-critical as the architecture or exception handlers usually will fix it up at runtime. Nevertheless it may trigger a performance penality for some architectures. For details read the "unaligned-memory-access" kernel documentation. The patch below ensures that the ipv6 loopback and router addresses will always be naturally aligned. This prevents the unaligned accesses for all architectures. An skb can be added to a neigh->arp_queue while waiting for an arp reply. Where original skb's skb->dev can be different to neigh's neigh->dev. For instance in case of bridging dnated skb from one veth to another, the skb would be added to a neigh->arp_queue of the bridge. As skb->dev can be reset back to nf_bridge->physindev and used, and as there is no explicit mechanism that prevents this physindev from been freed under us (for instance neigh_flush_dev doesn't cleanup skbs from different device's neigh queue) we can crash on e.g. this stack: arp_process neigh_update skb = __skb_dequeue(&neigh->arp_queue) neigh_resolve_output(..., skb) ... br_nf_dev_xmit br_nf_pre_routing_finish_bridge_slow skb->dev = nf_bridge->physindev br_handle_frame_finish Let's use plain ifindex instead of net_device link. To peek into the original net_device we will use dev_get_by_index_rcu(). Thus either we get device and are safe to use it or we don't get it and drop skb. 2024-01-05net: gro: parse ipv6 ext headers without frag0 invalidationRichard Gobert1-10/+41
The existing code always pulls the IPv6 header and sets the transport offset initially. Then optionally again pulls any extension headers in ipv6_gso_pull_exthdrs and sets the transport offset again on return from that call. skb->data is set at the start of the first extension header before calling ipv6_gso_pull_exthdrs, and must disable the frag0 optimization because that function uses pskb_may_pull/pskb_pull instead of skb_gro_ helpers. It sets the GRO offset to the TCP header with skb_gro_pull and sets the transport header. Then returns skb->data to its position before this block. This commit introduces a new helper function - ipv6_gro_pull_exthdrs - which is used in ipv6_gro_receive to pull ipv6 ext headers instead of ipv6_gso_pull_exthdrs. Thus, there is no modification of skb->data, all operations use skb_gro_* helpers, and the frag0 fast path can be taken for IPv6 packets with ext headers. 2024-01-05net: gso: add HBH extension header offload supportRichard Gobert2-14/+22
This commit adds net_offload to IPv6 Hop-by-Hop extension headers (as it is done for routing and dstopts) since it is supported in GSO and GRO. This allows to remove specific HBH conditionals in GSO and GRO when pulling and parsing an incoming packet.
