In commit 20704bd1633d ("erspan: build the header with the right proto
according to erspan_ver"), it gets the proto with t->parms.erspan_ver,
but t->parms.erspan_ver is not used by collect_md branch, and instead
it should get the proto with md->version for collect_md.
Thanks to Kevin for pointing this out.

Drivers should not assume skb_mac_header(skb) == skb->data in their
ndo_start_xmit().
Use skb_network_offset() and skb_transport_offset() which
better describe what is needed in erspan_fb_xmit() and
ip6erspan_tunnel_xmit()

Another syzbot report [1] with no reproducer hints
at a bug in ip6_gre tunnel (dev:ip6gretap0)
Since ipv6 mcast code makes sure to read dev->mtu once
and applies a sanity check on it (see commit b9b312a7a451
"ipv6: mcast: better catch silly mtu values"), a remaining
possibility is that a layer is able to set dev->mtu to
an underflowed value (high order bit set).
This could happen indeed in ip6gre_tnl_link_config_route(),
ip6_tnl_link_config() and ipip6_tunnel_bind_dev()
Make sure to sanitize mtu value in a local variable before
it is written once on dev->mtu, as lockless readers could
catch wrong temporary value.

Netdev reference helpers have a dev_ prefix for historic
reasons. Renaming the old helpers would be too much churn
but we can rename the tracking ones which are relatively
recent and should be the default for new code.
Rename:
dev_hold_track() -> netdev_hold()
dev_put_track() -> netdev_put()
dev_replace_track() -> netdev_ref_replace()

Recently we made o_seqno atomic_t. Stop special-casing TUNNEL_SEQ, and
always mark IP6GRE[TAP] devices as NETIF_F_LLTX, since we no longer need

As pointed out by Jakub Kicinski, currently using TUNNEL_SEQ in
collect_md mode is racy for [IP6]GRE[TAP] devices. Consider the
following sequence of events:
1. An [IP6]GRE[TAP] device is created in collect_md mode using "ip link
add ... external". "ip" ignores "[o]seq" if "external" is specified,
so TUNNEL_SEQ is off, and the device is marked as NETIF_F_LLTX (i.e.
it uses lockless TX);
2. Someone sets TUNNEL_SEQ on outgoing skb's, using e.g.
bpf_skb_set_tunnel_key() in an eBPF program attached to this device;
3. gre_fb_xmit() or __gre6_xmit() processes these skb's:
gre_build_header(skb, tun_hlen,
flags, protocol,
tunnel_id_to_key32(tun_info->key.tun_id),
(flags & TUNNEL_SEQ) ? htonl(tunnel->o_seqno++)
: 0); ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Since we are not using the TX lock (&txq->_xmit_lock), multiple CPUs may
try to do this tunnel->o_seqno++ in parallel, which is racy. Fix it by
making o_seqno atomic_t.
As mentioned by Eric Dumazet in commit b790e01aee74 ("ip_gre: lockless
xmit"), making o_seqno atomic_t increases "chance for packets being out
of order at receiver" when NETIF_F_LLTX is on.
Maybe a better fix would be:
1. Do not ignore "oseq" in external mode. Users MUST specify "oseq" if
they want the kernel to allow sequencing of outgoing packets;
2. Reject all outgoing TUNNEL_SEQ packets if the device was not created
with "oseq".
Unfortunately, that would break userspace.
We could now make [IP6]GRE[TAP] devices always NETIF_F_LLTX, but let us
do it in separate patches to keep this fix minimal.

For IP6GRE and IP6GRETAP devices, currently o_seqno starts from 1 in
native mode. According to RFC 2890 2.2., "The first datagram is sent
with a sequence number of 0." Fix it.
It is worth mentioning that o_seqno already starts from 0 in collect_md
mode, see the "if (tunnel->parms.collect_md)" clause in __gre6_xmit(),
where tunnel->o_seqno is passed to gre_build_header() before getting
incremented.

The following sequence of events caused the BUG:
1. During ip6gretap device initialization, tunnel->tun_hlen (e.g. 4) is
calculated based on old flags (see ip6gre_calc_hlen());
2. packet_snd() reserves header room for skb A, assuming
tunnel->tun_hlen is 4;
3. Later (in clsact Qdisc), the eBPF program sets a new tunnel key for
skb A using bpf_skb_set_tunnel_key() (see _ip6gretap_set_tunnel());
4. __gre6_xmit() detects the new tunnel key, and recalculates
"tun_hlen" (e.g. 12) based on new flags (e.g. TUNNEL_KEY and
TUNNEL_SEQ);
5. gre_build_header() calls skb_push() with insufficient reserved header
room, triggering the BUG.
As sugguested by Cong, fix it by moving the call to skb_cow_head() after
the recalculation of tun_hlen.

On egress side, xfrm lookup is called from __gre6_xmit() with the
fl6_gre_key field not initialized leading to policies selectors check
failure. Consequently, gre packets are sent without encryption.
On ingress side, INET6_PROTO_NOPOLICY was set, thus packets were not
checked against xfrm policies. Like for egress side, fl6_gre_key should be
correctly set, this is now done in decode_session6().

This reverts commit 9cf448c200ba9935baa94e7a0964598ce947db9d.
This commit was added for equivalence with a similar fix to ip_gre.
That fix proved to have a bug. Upon closer inspection, ip6_gre is not
susceptible to the original bug.
So revert the unnecessary extra check.
In short, ipgre_xmit calls skb_pull to remove ipv4 headers previously
inserted by dev_hard_header. ip6gre_tunnel_xmit does not.

After adopting CONFIG_PCPU_DEV_REFCNT=n option, syzbot was able to trigger
a warning [1]
Issue here is that:
- all dev_put() should be paired with a corresponding dev_hold(),
and vice versa.
- A driver doing a dev_put() in its ndo_uninit() MUST also
do a dev_hold() in its ndo_init(), only when ndo_init()
is returning 0.
Otherwise, register_netdevice() would call ndo_uninit()
in its error path and release a refcount too soon.
ip6_gre for example (among others problematic drivers)
has to use dev_hold() in ip6gre_tunnel_init_common()
instead of from ip6gre_newlink_common(), covering
both ip6gre_tunnel_init() and ip6gre_tap_init()/
Note that ip6gre_tunnel_init_common() is not called from
ip6erspan_tap_init() thus we also need to add a dev_hold() there,
as ip6erspan_tunnel_uninit() does call dev_put()

There were a few remaining tunnel drivers that didn't receive the prior
conversion to icmp{,v6}_ndo_send. Knowing now that this could lead to
memory corrution (see ee576c47db60 ("net: icmp: pass zeroed opts from
icmp{,v6}_ndo_send before sending") for details), there's even more
imperative to have these all converted. So this commit goes through the
remaining cases that I could find and does a boring translation to the
ndo variety.
The Fixes: line below is the merge that originally added icmp{,v6}_
ndo_send and converted the first batch of icmp{,v6}_send users. The
rationale then for the change applies equally to this patch. It's just
that these drivers were left out of the initial conversion because these
network devices are hiding in net/ rather than in drivers/net/.

In the datapath, the ip6gre_tunnel_lookup() is used and it internally uses
fallback tunnel device pointer, which is fb_tunnel_dev.
This pointer variable should be set to NULL when a fb interface is deleted.
But there is no routine to set fb_tunnel_dev pointer to NULL.
So, this pointer will be still used after interface is deleted and
it eventually results in the use-after-free problem.

don't get initialized). Clang's automatic stack variable initialization
(via CONFIG_INIT_STACK_ALL=y) doesn't throw a warning, but it also
doesn't initialize such variables[1]. Note that these warnings (or silent
skipping) happen before the dead-store elimination optimization phase,
so even when the automatic initializations are later elided in favor of
direct initializations, the warnings remain.
To avoid these problems, move such variables into the "case" where
they're used or lift them up into the main function body.

Support for moving IPv4 GRE tunnels between namespaces was added in
commit b57708add314 ("gre: add x-netns support"). The respective change
for IPv6 tunnels, commit 22f08069e8b4 ("ip6gre: add x-netns support")
did not drop NETIF_F_NETNS_LOCAL flag so moving them from one netns to
another is still denied in IPv6 case. Drop NETIF_F_NETNS_LOCAL flag from
ip6gre tunnels to allow moving ip6gre tunnel endpoints between network
namespaces.

When we do ipv6 gre pmtu update, we will also do neigh confirm currently.
This will cause the neigh cache be refreshed and set to REACHABLE before
xmit.
But if the remote mac address changed, e.g. device is deleted and recreated,
we will not able to notice this and still use the old mac address as the neigh
cache is REACHABLE.
Fix this by disable neigh confirm when do pmtu update
v5: No change.
v4: No change.
v3: Do not remove dst_confirm_neigh, but add a new bool parameter in
dst_ops.update_pmtu to control whether we should do neighbor confirm.
Also split the big patch to small ones for each area.

The MTU update code is supposed to be invoked in response to real
networking events that update the PMTU. In IPv6 PMTU update function
__ip6_rt_update_pmtu() we called dst_confirm_neigh() to update neighbor
confirmed time.
But for tunnel code, it will call pmtu before xmit, like:
- tnl_update_pmtu()
- skb_dst_update_pmtu()
- ip6_rt_update_pmtu()
- __ip6_rt_update_pmtu()
- dst_confirm_neigh()
If the tunnel remote dst mac address changed and we still do the neigh
confirm, we will not be able to update neigh cache and ping6 remote
will failed.
So for this ip_tunnel_xmit() case, _EVEN_ if the MTU is changed, we
should not be invoking dst_confirm_neigh() as we have no evidence
of successful two-way communication at this point.
On the other hand it is also important to keep the neigh reachability fresh
for TCP flows, so we cannot remove this dst_confirm_neigh() call.
To fix the issue, we have to add a new bool parameter for dst_ops.update_pmtu
to choose whether we should do neigh update or not. I will add the parameter
in this patch and set all the callers to true to comply with the previous
way, and fix the tunnel code one by one on later patches.

It causes the dev mtu of the erspan device to not be greater

Three conflicts, one of which, for marvell10g.c is non-trivial and
requires some follow-up from Heiner or someone else.
The issue is that Heiner converted the marvell10g driver over to
use the generic c45 code as much as possible.
However, in 'net' a bug fix appeared which makes sure that a new
local mask (MDIO_AN_10GBT_CTRL_ADV_NBT_MASK) with value 0x01e0
