2012-06-25batman-adv: Prefix icmp_socket local static functions with batadv_Sven Eckelmann1-32/+34
All non-static symbols of batman-adv were prefixed with batadv_ to avoid collisions with other symbols of the kernel. Other symbols of batman-adv should use the same prefix to keep the naming scheme consistent. Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org>

2012-06-21batman-adv: Reformat multiline comments to consistent styleSven Eckelmann1-4/+3
batman-adv doesn't follow the style for multiline comments that David S. Miller prefers. All comments should be reformatted to follow this consistent style to make the code slightly more readable. Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org>
2012-06-21batman-adv: Prefix main non-static functions with batadv_Sven Eckelmann1-2/+2
batman-adv can be compiled as part of the kernel instead of an module. In that case the linker will see all non-static symbols of batman-adv and all other non-static symbols of the kernel. This could lead to symbol collisions. A prefix for the batman-adv symbols that defines their private namespace avoids such a problem. Reported-by: David Miller <davem@davemloft.net> Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org>

2012-04-18batman-adv: use ETH_HLEN instead of sizeof(struct ethhdr)Antonio Quartulli1-2/+2
Instead of using sizeof(struct ethhdr) it is strongly recommended to use the kernel macro ETH_HLEN. This patch substitute each occurrence of the former expressione with the latter one. Signed-off-by: Antonio Quartulli <ordex@autistici.org>

2012-02-16batman-adv: Explicitly mark the common header structureSven Eckelmann1-3/+3
All batman-adv packets have a common 3 byte header. It can be used to share some code between different code paths, but it was never explicit stated that this header has to be always the same for all packets. Therefore, new code changes always have the problem that they may accidently introduce regressions by moving some elements around. A new structure is introduced that contains the common header and makes it easier visible that these 3 bytes have to be the same for all on-wire packets. 2011-12-12batman-adv: Only write requested number of byte to user bufferSven Eckelmann1-3/+2
Don't write more than the requested number of bytes of an batman-adv icmp packet to the userspace buffer. Otherwise unrelated userspace memory might get overridden by the kernel. Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org> Signed-off-by: Marek Lindner <lindner_marek@yahoo.de>
2011-12-12batman-adv: Directly check read of icmp packet in copy_from_userSven Eckelmann1-6/+1
The access_ok read check can be directly done in copy_from_user since a failure of access_ok is handled the same way as an error in __copy_from_user. Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org> Signed-off-by: Marek Lindner <lindner_marek@yahoo.de>
2011-12-12batman-adv: bat_socket_read missing checksPaul Kot1-2/+2
Writing a icmp_packet_rr and then reading icmp_packet can lead to kernel memory corruption, if __user *buf is just below TASK_SIZE. 2011-05-30batman-adv: Calculate sizeof using variable insead of typesSven Eckelmann1-2/+2
Documentation/CodingStyle recommends to use the form p = kmalloc(sizeof(*p), ...); to calculate the size of a struct and not the version where the struct name is spelled out to prevent bugs when the type of p changes. This also seems appropriate for manipulation of buffers when they are directly associated with p. Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org>
2011-05-02batman-adv: Make bat_priv->primary_if an rcu protected pointerMarek Lindner1-5/+14
The rcu protected macros rcu_dereference() and rcu_assign_pointer() for the bat_priv->primary_if need to be used, as well as spin/rcu locking. Otherwise we might end up using a primary_if pointer pointing to already freed memory. Signed-off-by: Marek Lindner <lindner_marek@yahoo.de> Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org>
2011-04-17batman-adv: Make orig_node->router an rcu protected pointerLinus Lüssing1-15/+3
The rcu protected macros rcu_dereference() and rcu_assign_pointer() for the orig_node->router need to be used, as well as spin/rcu locking. Otherwise we might end up using a router pointer pointing to already freed memory. Therefore this commit introduces the safe getter method orig_node_get_router(). 2011-03-05batman-adv: Correct rcu refcounting for orig_nodeMarek Lindner1-1/+1
It might be possible that 2 threads access the same data in the same rcu grace period. The first thread calls call_rcu() to decrement the refcount and free the data while the second thread increases the refcount to use the data. To avoid this race condition all refcount operations have to be atomic. Reported-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org> Signed-off-by: Marek Lindner <lindner_marek@yahoo.de>

2011-02-12batman-adv: Remove duplicate types.h inclusionsLinus Lüssing1-1/+0

2010-12-17net: Add batman-adv meshing protocolSven Eckelmann1-0/+356
B.A.T.M.A.N. (better approach to mobile ad-hoc networking) is a routing protocol for multi-hop ad-hoc mesh networks. The networks may be wired or wireless. See http://www.open-mesh.org/ for more information and user space tools. Signed-off-by: Sven Eckelmann <sven@narfation.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
