git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio Pull GPIO updates from Linus Walleij: "This is the bulk of changes in the GPIO subsystem for the v5.4 kernel cycle. Core changes: - Support hierarchical GPIO irqchips. We now have three consumers that can use this: Intel IXP4xx, ThunderX and Qualcomm SPMI GPIO (in the pinctrl subsystem). The support code has been long in the making and hashed out so it should be easily adaptable for all hierarchical irqchip parents. The code only gets compiled in if hierarchical irqchip is used at the topmost irq controller at least, as the hierarchical irqchip requires strict hierarchy all the way up in the system. - Determine the need for a "valid_mask" for GPIO lines on the gpio_chip and conversely for the "valid_mask" for the GPIO interrupt chip interrupt lines by looking for a .init_valid_mask() callback in the main chip or GPIO interrupt chip respectively. Allocate it with bitmap_alloc(). - Isolate the device tree/open firmware GPIO description code out in its own file properly. - Isolate the ACPI GPIO description code out in its own file properly. - Drop a whole lot of #ifdef:s in the main includes: it does not hurt to keep the include items around, and we get quicker and clearer compile failures if the appropriate kernel symbols are not selected for drivers. New/deleted drivers: - New driver for Aspeed SGPIO. - The KS8695 driver is deleted as the platform gets deleted from arch/arm in this kernel cycle. - The Cirrus Logic Madera driver now supports CS47L92 and CS47L15. - The Freescale MPC8xxx now supports LS1028A and LS1088A. Driver improvements: - We pass the GPIO irqchip intialization by directly filling in the struct instead of using set-up functions (the new way) for Intel MID, Lynxpoint, Merrifield, XLP, HLWD, Aspeed, ZX, VF610, TQMX86, MT7621, Zynq and EP93xx. Out-of-band changes: - Fix a GPIO header inclusion in Unicore - no response from maintainer. - Drop FMC subsystem from MAINTAINERS - was deleted in the GPIO tree last cycle so let's mop up the shards" * tag 'gpio-v5.4-1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linusw/linux-gpio: (82 commits) gpiolib: of: add a fallback for wlf, reset GPIO name gpio: htc-egpio: Remove unused exported htc_egpio_get_wakeup_irq() gpio: remove explicit comparison with 0 gpio: creg-snps: use devm_platform_ioremap_resource() to simplify code gpio: devres: Switch to EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL() gpio: of: Switch to EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL() gpio: of: Make of_gpio_simple_xlate() private gpio: of: Make of_get_named_gpiod_flags() private gpio: aspeed: Add in ast2600 details to Aspeed driver gpio: aspeed: Use ngpio property from device tree if available gpio: aspeed: Setup irqchip dynamically gpio/aspeed: Fix incorrect number of banks gpio: aspeed: Update documentation with ast2600 controllers gpio: Initialize the irqchip valid_mask with a callback gpiolib: acpi: make acpi_can_fallback_to_crs() static gpio: Fix further merge errors gpio: Fix up merge collision in include file gpio: of: Normalize return code variable name gpio: gpiolib: Normalize return code variable name gpio: ep93xx: Pass irqchip when adding gpiochip ...

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/brauner/linux Pull pidfd/waitid updates from Christian Brauner: "This contains two features and various tests. First, it adds support for waiting on process through pidfds by adding the P_PIDFD type to the waitid() syscall. This completes the basic functionality of the pidfd api (cf. [1]). In the meantime we also have a new adition to the userspace projects that make use of the pidfd api. The qt project was nice enough to send a mail pointing out that they have a pr up to switch to the pidfd api (cf. [2]). Second, this tag contains an extension to the waitid() syscall to make it possible to wait on the current process group in a race free manner (even though the actual problem is very unlikely) by specifing 0 together with the P_PGID type. This extension traces back to a discussion on the glibc development mailing list. There are also a range of tests for the features above. Additionally, the test-suite which detected the pidfd-polling race we fixed in [3] is included in this tag" [1] https://lwn.net/Articles/794707/ [2] https://codereview.qt-project.org/c/qt/qtbase/+/108456 [3] commit b191d6491be6 ("pidfd: fix a poll race when setting exit_state") * tag 'core-process-v5.4' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/brauner/linux: waitid: Add support for waiting for the current process group tests: add pidfd poll tests tests: move common definitions and functions into pidfd.h pidfd: add pidfd_wait tests pidfd: add P_PIDFD to waitid()

2019-09-11gpio: Initialize the irqchip valid_mask with a callbackLinus Walleij1-4/+10
After changing the valid_mask for the struct gpio_chip to detect the need and presence of a valid mask with the presence of a .init_valid_mask() callback to fill it in, we augment the gpio_irq_chip to use the same logic. Switch all driver using the gpio_irq_chio valid_mask over to this new method. This makes sure the valid_mask for the gpio_irq_chip gets filled in when we add the gpio_chip, which makes it a little easier to switch over drivers using the old way of setting up gpio_irq_chip over to the new method of passing the gpio_irq_chip along with the gpio_chip. 2019-09-07ipc: fix sparc64 ipc() wrapperArnd Bergmann1-0/+19
Matt bisected a sparc64 specific issue with semctl, shmctl and msgctl to a commit from my y2038 series in linux-5.1, as I missed the custom sys_ipc() wrapper that sparc64 uses in place of the generic version that I patched. The problem is that the sys_{sem,shm,msg}ctl() functions in the kernel now do not allow being called with the IPC_64 flag any more, resulting in a -EINVAL error when they don't recognize the command. Instead, the correct way to do this now is to call the internal ksys_old_{sem,shm,msg}ctl() functions to select the API version. As we generally move towards these functions anyway, change all of sparc_ipc() to consistently use those in place of the sys_*() versions, and move the required ksys_*() declarations into linux/syscalls.h The IS_ENABLED(CONFIG_SYSVIPC) check is required to avoid link errors when ipc is disabled. 2019-09-06ipc: fix semtimedop for generic 32-bit architecturesArnd Bergmann1-1/+1
As Vincent noticed, the y2038 conversion of semtimedop in linux-5.1 broke when commit 00bf25d693e7 ("y2038: use time32 syscall names on 32-bit") changed all system calls on all architectures that take a 32-bit time_t to point to the _time32 implementation, but left out semtimedop in the asm-generic header. This affects all 32-bit architectures using asm-generic/unistd.h: h8300, unicore32, openrisc, nios2, hexagon, c6x, arc, nds32 and csky. The notable exception is riscv32, which has dropped support for the time32 system calls entirely. 2019-08-31mm: memcontrol: flush percpu slab vmstats on kmem offliningRoman Gushchin1-2/+3
I've noticed that the "slab" value in memory.stat is sometimes 0, even if some children memory cgroups have a non-zero "slab" value. The following investigation showed that this is the result of the kmem_cache reparenting in combination with the per-cpu batching of slab vmstats. At the offlining some vmstat value may leave in the percpu cache, not being propagated upwards by the cgroup hierarchy. It means that stats on ancestor levels are lower than actual. Later when slab pages are released, the precise number of pages is substracted on the parent level, making the value negative. We don't show negative values, 0 is printed instead. To fix this issue, let's flush percpu slab memcg and lruvec stats on memcg offlining. This guarantees that numbers on all ancestor levels are accurate and match the actual number of outstanding slab pages. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-fs David Howells says: ==================== rxrpc: Fix use of skb_cow_data() Here's a series of patches that replaces the use of skb_cow_data() in rxrpc with skb_unshare() early on in the input process. The problem that is being seen is that skb_cow_data() indirectly requires that the maximum usage count on an sk_buff be 1, and it may generate an assertion failure in pskb_expand_head() if not. This can occur because rxrpc_input_data() may be still holding a ref when it has just attached the sk_buff to the rx ring and given that attachment its own ref. If recvmsg happens fast enough, skb_cow_data() can see the ref still held by the softirq handler. Further, a packet may contain multiple subpackets, each of which gets its own attachment to the ring and its own ref - also making skb_cow_data() go bang. Fix this by: (1) The DATA packet is currently parsed for subpackets twice by the input routines. Parse it just once instead and make notes in the sk_buff private data. (2) Use the notes from (1) when attaching the packet to the ring multiple times. Once the packet is attached to the ring, recvmsg can see it and start modifying it, so the softirq handler is not permitted to look inside it from that point. (3) Pass the ref from the input code to the ring rather than getting an extra ref. rxrpc_input_data() uses a ref on the second refcount to prevent the packet from evaporating under it. (4) Call skb_unshare() on secured DATA packets in rxrpc_input_packet() before we take call->input_lock. Other sorts of packets don't get modified and so can be left. A trace is emitted if skb_unshare() eats the skb. Note that skb_share() for our accounting in this regard as we can't see the parameters in the packet to log in a trace line if it releases it. (5) Remove the calls to skb_cow_data(). These are then no longer necessary. There are also patches to improve the rxrpc_skb tracepoint to make sure that Tx-derived buffers are identified separately from Rx-derived buffers in the trace. ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. This patch adds decriptions for mt8183 IOMMU and SMI. mt8183 has only one M4U like mt8173 and is also MTK IOMMU gen2 which uses ARM Short-Descriptor translation table format. The mt8183 M4U-SMI HW diagram is as below: EMI | M4U | ---------- | | gals0-rx gals1-rx | | | | gals0-tx gals1-tx | | ------------ SMI Common ------------ | +-----+-----+--------+-----+-----+-------+-------+ | | | | | | | | | | gals-rx gals-rx | gals-rx gals-rx gals-rx | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | gals-tx gals-tx | gals-tx gals-tx gals-tx | | | | | | | | larb0 larb1 IPU0 IPU1 larb4 larb5 larb6 CCU disp vdec img cam venc img cam All the connections are HW fixed, SW can NOT adjust it. Compared with mt8173, we add a GALS(Global Async Local Sync) module between SMI-common and M4U, and additional GALS between larb2/3/5/6 and SMI-common. GALS can help synchronize for the modules in different clock frequency, it can be seen as a "asynchronous fifo". GALS can only help transfer the command/data while it doesn't have the configuring register, thus it has the special "smi" clock and it doesn't have the "apb" clock. From the diagram above, we add "gals0" and "gals1" clocks for smi-common and add a "gals" clock for smi-larb. >From the diagram above, IPU0/IPU1(Image Processor Unit) and CCU(Camera Control Unit) is connected with smi-common directly, we can take them as "larb2", "larb3" and "larb7", and their register spaces are different with the normal larb.
