2017-11-20drm: Check crtc_state->enable rather than crtc->enabled in ↵Ville Syrjälä1-1/+2
drm_plane_helper_check_state() drm_plane_helper_check_state() is supposed to do things the atomic way, so it should not be inspecting crtc->enabled. Rather we should be looking at crtc_state->enable. We have a slight complication due to drm_plane_helper_check_update() reusing drm_plane_helper_check_state() for non-atomic drivers. drm_gem_cma_prime_import_sg_table() will fail if the number of entries in the sg_table > 1. However, you can have a device that uses an IOMMU engine and can map a discontiguous buffer with multiple entries that have consecutive sg_dma_addresses, effectively making it contiguous. Allow for that scenario by testing the entries in the sg_table for contiguous coverage. 2017-11-11drm/cma-helper: Turn to_drm_gem_cma_obj() into a macroNoralf Trønnes1-5/+2
This allows the argument to be a const. The other option was to keep it an inline function and make the argument a const: static inline struct drm_gem_cma_object * to_drm_gem_cma_obj(const struct drm_gem_object *gem_obj) { return container_of(gem_obj, struct drm_gem_cma_object, base); } This will happily return a non-const pointer to the drm_gem_cma_object based on a const pointer to the contained drm_gem_object, thus creating const-safety problems. There was an attempt to fix the problem in the container_of() macro itself (see https://lkml.org/lkml/2017/5/19/381) but the patch seems to have fallen through the cracks. It would require turning this inline function into a macro. By making this a macro now, we will benefit from a possible future enhancement of container_of(). We don't loose type checking by doing this, container_of() takes care of that. 2017-10-19drm/vc4: Add the DRM_IOCTL_VC4_GEM_MADVISE ioctlBoris Brezillon1-0/+19
This ioctl will allow us to purge inactive userspace buffers when the system is running out of contiguous memory. For now, the purge logic is rather dumb in that it does not try to release only the amount of BO needed to meet the last CMA alloc request but instead purges all objects placed in the purgeable pool as soon as we experience a CMA allocation failure. Note that the in-kernel BO cache is always purged before the purgeable cache because those objects are known to be unused while objects marked as purgeable by a userspace application/library might have to be restored when they are marked back as unpurgeable, which can be expensive. Core drm shouldn't depend on anything in drm-kms-helper, or the drm module will fail to load. insmod drm fails with [ 6087.674390] drm: Unknown symbol drm_panel_bridge_remove (err 0) which is defined in drm_kms_helper.ko This call was added by commit c70087e8f16f ("drm/drm_of: add drm_of_panel_bridge_remove function"), and the fix is defining it in the drm_of.h header, to break the circular dependency. This function is the pendant of drm_of_find_panel_or_bridge() to remove a previously allocated panel_bridge. Given a specific port and endpoint it remove the panel bridge. Since drm_panel_bridge_remove() will check that bridge parameter is not NULL and is a real drm_panel_bridge and no a simple bridge it is safe to call it directly. 2017-10-06drm/atomic: Make atomic iterators less surprisingMaarten Lankhorst1-43/+42
Commit 669c9215afea ("drm/atomic: Make async plane update checks work as intended, v2.") assumed incorrectly that if only 1 plane is matched in the loop, the variables will be set to that plane. In reality we reset them to NULL every time a new plane was iterated. This behavior is surprising, so fix this by making the for loops only assign the variables on a match. When we have not added all the planes/crtc/connector to the state, and there's a few NULL ones after the last one we iterated, te assumption is broken that the pointers will hold the values from the last loop iteration, which holds true for all other for_each macros we're using. Except of course the iterator pointer itself, but that one really is entirely internal. Currently TASK_PARKED is masqueraded as TASK_INTERRUPTIBLE, give it its own print state because it will not in fact get woken by regular wakeups and is a long-term state. This requires moving TASK_PARKED into the TASK_REPORT mask, and since that latter needs to be a contiguous bitmask, we need to shuffle the bits around a bit. But, that change fixes a typo in a user visible API that was just added in this merge window, so if we fix it now, we can fix it. If we don't, the typo is in the API forever. Another that might not appear to be a fix at first glance is the Simplify mlx5_ib_cont_pages patch, but the simplification allows them to fix a bug in the existing function whenever the length of an SGE exceeded page size. We also had to revert one patch from the merge window that was wrong.
