2019-01-26locking/qspinlock: Pull in asm/byteorder.h to ensure correct endiannessDave Airlie1-0/+2
This commit is not required upstream, but is required for the 4.9.y stable series. Upstream commit 101110f6271c ("Kbuild: always define endianess in kconfig.h") ensures that either __LITTLE_ENDIAN or __BIG_ENDIAN is defined to reflect the endianness of the target CPU architecture regardless of whether or not <asm/byteorder.h> has been #included. The upstream definition of 'struct qspinlock' relies on this property. Unfortunately, the 4.9.y stable series does not provide this guarantee, so the 'spin_unlock()' routine can erroneously treat the underlying lockword as big-endian on little-endian architectures using native qspinlock (i.e. x86_64 without PV) if the caller has not included <asm/byteorder.h>. This can lead to hangs such as the one in 'i915_gem_request()' reported via bugzilla: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202063 Fix the issue by ensuring that <asm/byteorder.h> is #included in <asm/qspinlock_types.h>, where 'struct qspinlock' is defined. [ Upstream commit 347a28b586802d09604a149c1a1f6de5dccbe6fa ] This happened while running in qemu-system-aarch64, the AMBA PL011 UART driver when enabling CONFIG_DEBUG_TEST_DRIVER_REMOVE. arch_initcall(pl011_init) came before subsys_initcall(default_bdi_init), devtmpfs' handle_remove() crashes because the reference count is a NULL pointer only because wb->bdi hasn't been initialized yet. Rework so that wb_put have an extra check if wb->bdi before decrement wb->refcnt and also add a WARN_ON_ONCE to get a warning if it happens again in other drivers. commit d4b09acf924b84bae77cad090a9d108e70b43643 upstream. if node have NFSv41+ mounts inside several net namespaces it can lead to use-after-free in svc_process_common() svc_process_common() /* Setup reply header */ rqstp->rq_xprt->xpt_ops->xpo_prep_reply_hdr(rqstp); <<< HERE svc_process_common() can use incorrect rqstp->rq_xprt, its caller function bc_svc_process() takes it from serv->sv_bc_xprt. The problem is that serv is global structure but sv_bc_xprt is assigned per-netnamespace. According to Trond, the whole "let's set up rqstp->rq_xprt for the back channel" is nothing but a giant hack in order to work around the fact that svc_process_common() uses it to find the xpt_ops, and perform a couple of (meaningless for the back channel) tests of xpt_flags. All we really need in svc_process_common() is to be able to run rqstp->rq_xprt->xpt_ops->xpo_prep_reply_hdr() Bruce J Fields points that this xpo_prep_reply_hdr() call is an awfully roundabout way just to do "svc_putnl(resv, 0);" in the tcp case. This patch does not initialiuze rqstp->rq_xprt in bc_svc_process(), now it calls svc_process_common() with rqstp->rq_xprt = NULL. To adjust reply header svc_process_common() just check rqstp->rq_prot and calls svc_tcp_prep_reply_hdr() for tcp case. To handle rqstp->rq_xprt = NULL case in functions called from svc_process_common() patch intruduces net namespace pointer svc_rqst->rq_bc_net and adjust SVC_NET() definition. Some other function was also adopted to properly handle described case. 2019-01-09ext4: force inode writes when nfsd calls commit_metadata()Theodore Ts'o1-0/+20
commit fde872682e175743e0c3ef939c89e3c6008a1529 upstream. Some time back, nfsd switched from calling vfs_fsync() to using a new commit_metadata() hook in export_operations(). If the file system did not provide a commit_metadata() hook, it fell back to using sync_inode_metadata(). Unfortunately doesn't work on all file systems. In particular, it doesn't work on ext4 due to how the inode gets journalled --- the VFS writeback code will not always call ext4_write_inode(). So we need to provide our own ext4_nfs_commit_metdata() method which calls ext4_write_inode() directly. 2019-01-09platform-msi: Free descriptors in platform_msi_domain_free()Miquel Raynal1-0/+2

Since the addition of platform MSI support, there were two helpers supposed to allocate/free IRQs for a device: platform_msi_domain_alloc_irqs() platform_msi_domain_free_irqs() In these helpers, IRQ descriptors are allocated in the "alloc" routine while they are freed in the "free" one. Later, two other helpers have been added to handle IRQ domains on top of MSI domains: platform_msi_domain_alloc() platform_msi_domain_free() Seen from the outside, the logic is pretty close with the former helpers and people used it with the same logic as before: a platform_msi_domain_alloc() call should be balanced with a platform_msi_domain_free() call. While this is probably what was intended to do, the platform_msi_domain_free() does not remove/free the IRQ descriptor(s) created/inserted in platform_msi_domain_alloc(). One effect of such situation is that removing a module that requested an IRQ will let one orphaned IRQ descriptor (with an allocated MSI entry) in the device descriptors list. Next time the module will be inserted back, one will observe that the allocation will happen twice in the MSI domain, one time for the remaining descriptor, one time for the new one. It also has the side effect to quickly overshoot the maximum number of allocated MSI and then prevent any module requesting an interrupt in the same domain to be inserted anymore. This situation has been met with loops of insertion/removal of the mvpp2.ko module (requesting 15 MSIs each time). [ Upstream commit 3a0ed3e9619738067214871e9cb826fa23b2ddb9 ] Al Viro mentioned (Message-ID <20170626041334.GZ10672@ZenIV.linux.org.uk>) that there is probably a race condition lurking in accesses of sk_stamp on 32-bit machines. sock->sk_stamp is of type ktime_t which is always an s64. On a 32 bit architecture, we might run into situations of unsafe access as the access to the field becomes non atomic. Use seqlocks for synchronization. This allows us to avoid using spinlocks for readers as readers do not need mutual exclusion. Another approach to solve this is to require sk_lock for all modifications of the timestamps. The current approach allows for timestamps to have their own lock: sk_stamp_lock. This allows for the patch to not compete with already existing critical sections, and side effects are limited to the paths in the patch. The addition of the new field maintains the data locality optimizations from commit 9115e8cd2a0c ("net: reorganize struct sock for better data locality") Note that all the instances of the sk_stamp accesses are either through the ioctl or the syscall recvmsg. 'struct __qspinlock' provides a handy union of fields so that subcomponents of the lockword can be accessed by name, without having to manage shifts and masks explicitly and take endianness into account. This is useful in qspinlock.h and also potentially in arch headers, so move the 'struct __qspinlock' into 'struct qspinlock' and kill the extra definition. 2018-12-21signal: Introduce COMPAT_SIGMINSTKSZ for use in compat_sys_sigaltstackWill Deacon1-0/+3
commit 22839869f21ab3850fbbac9b425ccc4c0023926f upstream. The sigaltstack(2) system call fails with -ENOMEM if the new alternative signal stack is found to be smaller than SIGMINSTKSZ. On architectures such as arm64, where the native value for SIGMINSTKSZ is larger than the compat value, this can result in an unexpected error being reported to a compat task. See, for example: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=904385 This patch fixes the problem by extending do_sigaltstack to take the minimum signal stack size as an additional parameter, allowing the native and compat system call entry code to pass in their respective values. [ Upstream commit e6ac64d4c4d095085d7dd71cbd05704ac99829b2 ] While skb_push() makes the kernel panic if the skb headroom is less than the unaligned hardware header size, it will proceed normally in case we copy more than that because of alignment, and we'll silently corrupt adjacent slabs. In the case fixed by the previous patch, "ipv6: Check available headroom in ip6_xmit() even without options", we end up in neigh_hh_output() with 14 bytes headroom, 14 bytes hardware header and write 16 bytes, starting 2 bytes before the allocated buffer. 2018-12-08btrfs: Add sanity check for EXTENT_DATA when reading out leafQu Wenruo1-0/+1

This checks the following thing: 0) Key offset All key offsets must be aligned to sectorsize. Inline extent must have 0 for key offset. 1) Item size Uncompressed inline file extent size must match item size. (Compressed inline file extent has no information about its on-disk size.) Regular/preallocated file extent size must be a fixed value. 2) Every member of regular file extent item Including alignment for bytenr and offset, possible value for compression/encryption/type. 3) Type/compression/encode must be one of the valid values. This should be the most comprehensive and strict check in the context of btrfs_item for EXTENT_DATA. When a client authenticates with a service, an authorizer is sent with a nonce to the service (ceph_x_authorize_[ab]) and the service responds with a mutation of that nonce (ceph_x_authorize_reply). This lets the client verify the service is who it says it is but it doesn't protect against a replay: someone can trivially capture the exchange and reuse the same authorizer to authenticate themselves. Allow the service to reject an initial authorizer with a random challenge (ceph_x_authorize_challenge). The client then has to respond with an updated authorizer proving they are able to decrypt the service's challenge and that the new authorizer was produced for this specific connection instance. The accepting side requires this challenge and response unconditionally if the client side advertises they have CEPHX_V2 feature bit. This addresses CVE-2018-1128. This patch adds a new portable format intended to allow distributions to include EVM signatures. It is identical to the existing format but hardcodes the inode and generation numbers to 0 and does not include the filesystem UUID even if the kernel is configured to do so. Removing the inode means that the metadata and signature from one file could be copied to another file without invalidating it. This is avoided by ensuring that an IMA xattr is present during EVM validation. Portable signatures are intended to be immutable - ie, they will never be transformed into HMACs. Disallows open of FIFOs or regular files not owned by the user in world writable sticky directories, unless the owner is the same as that of the directory or the file is opened without the O_CREAT flag. The purpose is to make data spoofing attacks harder. This protection can be turned on and off separately for FIFOs and regular files via sysctl, just like the symlinks/hardlinks protection. This patch is based on Openwall's "HARDEN_FIFO" feature by Solar Designer. This is a brief list of old vulnerabilities that could have been prevented by this feature, some of them even allow for privilege escalation: CVE-2000-1134 CVE-2007-3852 CVE-2008-0525 CVE-2009-0416 CVE-2011-4834 CVE-2015-1838 CVE-2015-7442 CVE-2016-7489 This list is not meant to be complete. 2018-11-21mm: migration: fix migration of huge PMD shared pagesMike Kravetz2-0/+20
commit 017b1660df89f5fb4bfe66c34e35f7d2031100c7 upstream. The page migration code employs try_to_unmap() to try and unmap the source page. This is accomplished by using rmap_walk to find all vmas where the page is mapped. This search stops when page mapcount is zero. For shared PMD huge pages, the page map count is always 1 no matter the number of mappings. Shared mappings are tracked via the reference count of the PMD page. Therefore, try_to_unmap stops prematurely and does not completely unmap all mappings of the source page. This problem can result is data corruption as writes to the original source page can happen after contents of the page are copied to the target page. Hence, data is lost. This problem was originally seen as DB corruption of shared global areas after a huge page was soft offlined due to ECC memory errors. DB developers noticed they could reproduce the issue by (hotplug) offlining memory used to back huge pages. A simple testcase can reproduce the problem by creating a shared PMD mapping (note that this must be at least PUD_SIZE in size and PUD_SIZE aligned (1GB on x86)), and using migrate_pages() to migrate process pages between nodes while continually writing to the huge pages being migrated. To fix, have the try_to_unmap_one routine check for huge PMD sharing by calling huge_pmd_unshare for hugetlbfs huge pages. If it is a shared mapping it will be 'unshared' which removes the page table entry and drops the reference on the PMD page. After this, flush caches and TLB. mmu notifiers are called before locking page tables, but we can not be sure of PMD sharing until page tables are locked. Therefore, check for the possibility of PMD sharing before locking so that notifiers can prepare for the worst possible case. Set the regular and coherent DMA masks for TURBOchannel devices then, observing that the bus protocol supports a 34-bit (16GiB) DMA address space, by interpreting the value presented in the address cycle across the 32 `ad' lines as a 32-bit word rather than byte address[1]. The architectural size of the TURBOchannel DMA address space exceeds the maximum amount of RAM any actual TURBOchannel system in existence may have, hence both masks are the same. This removes the warning shown above. [ Upstream commit 78c9c4dfbf8c04883941445a195276bb4bb92c76 ] The posix timer overrun handling is broken because the forwarding functions can return a huge number of overruns which does not fit in an int. As a consequence timer_getoverrun(2) and siginfo::si_overrun can turn into random number generators. The k_clock::timer_forward() callbacks return a 64 bit value now. Make k_itimer::ti_overrun[_last] 64bit as well, so the kernel internal accounting is correct. 3Remove the temporary (int) casts. Add a helper function which clamps the overrun value returned to user space via timer_getoverrun(2) or siginfo::si_overrun limited to a positive value between 0 and INT_MAX. INT_MAX is an indicator for user space that the overrun value has been clamped. 2018-10-20mremap: properly flush TLB before releasing the pageLinus Torvalds1-1/+1
commit eb66ae030829605d61fbef1909ce310e29f78821 upstream. Jann Horn points out that our TLB flushing was subtly wrong for the mremap() case. What makes mremap() special is that we don't follow the usual "add page to list of pages to be freed, then flush tlb, and then free pages". No, mremap() obviously just _moves_ the page from one page table location to another. That matters, because mremap() thus doesn't directly control the lifetime of the moved page with a freelist: instead, the lifetime of the page is controlled by the page table locking, that serializes access to the entry. As a result, we need to flush the TLB not just before releasing the lock for the source location (to avoid any concurrent accesses to the entry), but also before we release the destination page table lock (to avoid the TLB being flushed after somebody else has already done something to that page). This also makes the whole "need_flush" logic unnecessary, since we now always end up flushing the TLB for every valid entry. 2018-10-18ip: add helpers to process in-order fragments faster.Peter Oskolkov1-0/+6
This patch introduces several helper functions/macros that will be used in the follow-up patch. No runtime changes yet. The new logic (fully implemented in the second patch) is as follows: * Nodes in the rb-tree will now contain not single fragments, but lists of consecutive fragments ("runs"). * At each point in time, the current "active" run at the tail is maintained/tracked. Fragments that arrive in-order, adjacent to the previous tail fragment, are added to this tail run without triggering the re-balancing of the rb-tree. * If a fragment arrives out of order with the offset _before_ the tail run, it is inserted into the rb-tree as a single fragment. * If a fragment arrives after the current tail fragment (with a gap), it starts a new "tail" run, as is inserted into the rb-tree at the end as the head of the new run. skb->cb is used to store additional information needed here (suggested by Eric Dumazet). 2018-10-18net: pskb_trim_rcsum() and CHECKSUM_COMPLETE are friendsEric Dumazet1-3/+2
After working on IP defragmentation lately, I found that some large packets defeat CHECKSUM_COMPLETE optimization because of NIC adding zero paddings on the last (small) fragment. While removing the padding with pskb_trim_rcsum(), we set skb->ip_summed to CHECKSUM_NONE, forcing a full csum validation, even if all prior fragments had CHECKSUM_COMPLETE set.
