2026-03-04arm64/ftrace,bpf: Fix partial regs after bpf_prog_runJiri Olsa1-0/+25
[ Upstream commit 276f3b6daf6024ae2742afd161e7418a5584a660 ] Mahe reported issue with bpf_override_return helper not working when executed from kprobe.multi bpf program on arm. The problem is that on arm we use alternate storage for pt_regs object that is passed to bpf_prog_run and if any register is changed (which is the case of bpf_override_return) it's not propagated back to actual pt_regs object. Fixing this by introducing and calling ftrace_partial_regs_update function to propagate the values of changed registers (ip and stack). 2025-03-04ftrace: Add print_function_args()Sven Schnelle1-0/+5
Add a function to decode argument types with the help of BTF. Will be used to display arguments in the function and function graph tracer. It can only handle simply arguments and up to FTRACE_REGS_MAX_ARGS number of arguments. When it hits a max, it will print ", ...": page_to_skb(vi=0xffff8d53842dc980, rq=0xffff8d53843a0800, page=0xfffffc2e04337c00, offset=6160, len=64, truesize=1536, ...) And if it hits an argument that is not recognized, it will print the raw value and the type of argument it is: make_vfsuid(idmap=0xffffffff87f99db8, fs_userns=0xffffffff87e543c0, kuid=0x0 (STRUCT)) __pti_set_user_pgtbl(pgdp=0xffff8d5384ab47f8, pgd=0x110e74067 (STRUCT)) Cc: Mark Rutland <mark.rutland@arm.com> Cc: Mathieu Desnoyers <mathieu.desnoyers@efficios.com> Cc: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Cc: Paul Walmsley <paul.walmsley@sifive.com> Cc: Palmer Dabbelt <palmer@dabbelt.com> Cc: Albert Ou <aou@eecs.berkeley.edu> Cc: Guo Ren <guoren@kernel.org> Cc: Donglin Peng <dolinux.peng@gmail.com> Cc: Zheng Yejian <zhengyejian@huaweicloud.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/20250227185822.639418500@goodmis.org Reviewed-by: Masami Hiramatsu (Google) <mhiramat@kernel.org> Co-developed-by: Steven Rostedt (Google) <rostedt@goodmis.org> Signed-off-by: Sven Schnelle <svens@linux.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Steven Rostedt (Google) <rostedt@goodmis.org>
2024-12-26fgraph: Replace fgraph_ret_regs with ftrace_regsMasami Hiramatsu (Google)1-0/+2
Use ftrace_regs instead of fgraph_ret_regs for tracing return value on function_graph tracer because of simplifying the callback interface. The CONFIG_HAVE_FUNCTION_GRAPH_RETVAL is also replaced by CONFIG_HAVE_FUNCTION_GRAPH_FREGS. 2024-10-16ftrace: Rename ftrace_regs_return_value to ftrace_regs_get_return_valueMasami Hiramatsu (Google)1-1/+1
Rename ftrace_regs_return_value to ftrace_regs_get_return_value as same as other ftrace_regs_get/set_* APIs. arm64 and riscv are already using this new name. 2024-10-16ftrace: Use arch_ftrace_regs() for ftrace_regs_*() macrosMasami Hiramatsu (Google)1-6/+6
Since the arch_ftrace_get_regs(fregs) is only valid when the FL_SAVE_REGS is set, we need to use `&arch_ftrace_regs()->regs` for ftrace_regs_*() APIs because those APIs are for ftrace_regs, not complete pt_regs. 2024-10-15ftrace: Consolidate ftrace_regs accessor functions for archs using pt_regsSteven Rostedt1-0/+36
Most architectures use pt_regs within ftrace_regs making a lot of the accessor functions just calls to the pt_regs internally. Instead of duplication this effort, use a HAVE_ARCH_FTRACE_REGS for architectures that have their own ftrace_regs that is not based on pt_regs and will define all the accessor functions, and for the architectures that just use pt_regs, it will leave it undefined, and the default accessor functions will be used. Note, this will also make it easier to add new accessor functions to ftrace_regs as it will mean having to touch less architectures.
