The eDMA/HDMA transfers the driver issues carry a requester function
number in their TLPs, but nothing ever programs it: eDMA v0 leaves the
FUNC_NUM field of the channel control word zero and HDMA leaves the
per-channel func_num register at its reset value, so every transfer is
attributed to function 0. That is invisible in single-function setups,
but once the DMA block serves a non-zero endpoint function, its
requests must carry that function's number for the host to attribute
and translate them correctly.
Record the function number in the chip data (PCI_FUNC() of the probing
device for dw-edma-pcie) and program it per channel.
Endpoint-local chip instances keep func_no at 0, so transfers issued by
the endpoint-side driver remain PF0-attributed. Delegated channels are
programmed by the host-side dw-edma-pcie instance when it takes over the
channel, using that instance's PCI_FUNC().

A DesignWare eDMA instance may represent only a subset of channels that
is also initialized by another OS instance, such as an endpoint-side OS.
Add a partial ownership flag for instances that must preserve
controller-wide state owned by that peer.
In partial ownership mode, dw-edma skips the initial core reset and uses
the limited quiesce path in probe() and remove() instead of the full
core-off path. The flag also makes the driver validate the ownership
granularity required by each register layout before registering
channels.
Probe fails if the limited quiesce cannot stop its resources; remove
reports the error after completing the remaining driver teardown.
Partial instances also skip interrupt-emulation doorbell allocation: the
emulated doorbell is a controller-level resource, and a partial owner
must not claim it on behalf of the whole block.
For EDMA_MF_EDMA_UNROLL and EDMA_MF_HDMA_COMPAT, the driver programs
per-direction registers, such as DMA_{WRITE,READ}_INT_MASK_OFF and
DMA_{WRITE,READ}_INT_CLEAR_OFF. These register layouts have at most
EDMA_MAX_{WR,RD}_CH channels per direction, so the capped hardware
channel count still represents the whole direction. A partial instance
can therefore expose write or read channels only if it owns every
channel in that direction; otherwise two OS instances could update the
same direction-wide registers without a shared locking protocol.
In contrast, HDMA native uses per-channel registers, so it can be owned
at channel granularity.

DesignWare eDMA can signal completion locally through edma_int[] and
remotely through IMWr/MSI. When channels are delegated to a remote
frontend, the local endpoint side and the remote host side must not both
service the same DONE/ABORT status.
Add channel interrupt routing state and initialize it from the controller
instance configuration. Update the eDMA and HDMA native paths so
linked-list interrupt generation, HDMA non-linked-list interrupt enables,
and DONE/ABORT masking follow the selected mode. For HDMA native
non-linked-list channels, keep the local stop/abort enables set so status
is latched. In remote mode, also enable remote signaling and mask the local
interrupt pins.
Keep the existing dw-edma-pcie host-side instances in remote interrupt
routing mode so their IMWr/MSI completion model remains unchanged after
local routing becomes the zero value.
Note:
- The routing mode describes where a channel should report completion.
It does not by itself say whether this dw-edma instance owns the
interrupt status. A local instance must ignore remote-only channels,
and a remote instance must ignore local-only channels, even if such
interrupts are unexpectedly delivered. Otherwise the non-owner side
could steal the interrupt from the owner by clearing shared DONE/ABORT
status.

As per 'Designware Cores PCI Express Controller Databook',
Section 7.1 - Overview, HDMA supports 64 Read and 64 Write
channels. Current controller driver supports up to 8 read and
write channels only. In order to utilize all the channels the
controller driver need to have the channel related structs
and variables as per the number of channels supported by IP.
Following changes are made to enable 64 Read / 64 Write
channel support:
o Defined HDMA specific macros to reflect the channel count.
o The count of ll_regions and dt_regions in dw_edma_chip and
dw_edma_pcie_data shall be in accordance to number of read
and write channels.
o In dw_edma_probe() configure the channels as per the channels
of the IP used.
o Changed mask types to u64 for higher channel counts.

BAM version 1.6.0 and later changed the behavior of the mask field in
command elements for read operations.
In older BAM versions, or prior implementation assumptions, the mask
field was effectively ignored for read commands. However, starting from
BAM v1.6.0, the mask field for read commands is repurposed to carry the
upper 4 bits of the destination address, enabling support for 36-bit
addressing. For write commands, the mask field continues to function as
a traditional write mask.
The current driver sets mask = 0xffffffff for all command elements.
While this works for write operations, it breaks read operations on
BAM v1.6.0+ hardware. In such cases, the hardware interprets the upper
address bits as 0xf, resulting in an invalid destination address
(0xf_xxxxxxxx instead of 0x0_xxxxxxxx).
This leads to failures such as NAND enumeration issues observed on
platforms like IPQ5424.
Fix this by assigning the mask field based on command type:
- For read commands: set mask = 0 (upper address bits = 0)
- For write commands: retain mask = 0xffffffff
Also update the bam_cmd_element structure documentation to reflect the
dual purpose of the mask field across BAM versions.
This ensures correct behavior on BAM v1.6.0+ while maintaining backward
compatibility with older hardware.

AMD MDB IP supports Linked List (LL) mode as well as non-LL mode.
The current code does not have the mechanisms to enable the
DMA transactions using the non-LL mode. The following two cases
are added with this patch:
- For the AMD (Xilinx) only, when a valid physical base address of
the device side DDR is not configured, then the IP can still be
used in non-LL mode. For all the channels DMA transactions will
be using the non-LL mode only. This, the default non-LL mode,
is not applicable for Synopsys IP with the current code addition.
- If the default mode is LL-mode, for both AMD (Xilinx) and Synosys,
and if user wants to use non-LL mode then user can do so via
configuring the peripheral_config param of dma_slave_config.

Interrupt emulation can assert the dw-edma IRQ line without updating the
DONE/ABORT bits. With the shared read/write/common IRQ handlers, the
driver cannot reliably distinguish such an emulated interrupt from a
real one and leaving a level IRQ asserted may wedge the line.
Allocate a dedicated, requestable Linux virtual IRQ (db_irq) for
interrupt emulation and attach an irq_chip whose .irq_ack runs the
core-specific deassert sequence (.ack_emulated_irq()). The physical
dw-edma interrupt handlers raise this virtual IRQ via
generic_handle_irq(), ensuring emulated IRQs are always deasserted.
Export the virtual IRQ number (db_irq) and the doorbell register offset
(db_offset) via struct dw_edma_chip so platform users can expose
interrupt emulation as a doorbell.
Without this, a single interrupt-emulation write can leave the level IRQ
line asserted and cause the generic IRQ layer to disable it.

k3_udma_glue_reset_rx_chn
The user of k3_udma_glue_reset_rx_chn() e.g. ti_am65_cpsw_nuss can
run on multiple platforms having different DMA architectures.
On some platforms there can be one FDQ for all flows in the RX channel
while for others there is a separate FDQ for each flow in the RX channel.
So far we have been relying on the skip_fdq argument of
k3_udma_glue_reset_rx_chn().
Instead of relying on the user to provide this information, infer it
based on DMA architecture during k3_udma_glue_request_rx_chn() and save it
in an internal flag 'single_fdq'. Use that flag at
k3_udma_glue_reset_rx_chn() to deicide if the FDQ needs
to be cleared for every flow or just for flow 0.
Fixes the below issue on ti_am65_cpsw_nuss driver on AM62-SK.

The existing function k3_udma_glue_request_remote_rx_chn() supports
requesting an RX DMA channel and flow by the name of the RX DMA channel.
Add support to request RX DMA channel for a given thread ID in the form of
a new function named k3_udma_glue_request_remote_rx_chn_for_thread_id().
Also, export it for use by drivers which are probed by alternate methods
(non device-tree) but still wish to make use of the existing DMA APIs. Such
drivers could be informed about the thread ID corresponding to the RX DMA
channel by RPMsg for example.
Since the new function k3_udma_glue_request_remote_rx_chn_for_thread_id()

Add support for HDMA NATIVE, as long the IP design has set
the compatible register map parameter-HDMA_NATIVE,
which allows compatibility for native HDMA register configuration.
The HDMA Hyper-DMA IP is an enhancement of the eDMA embedded-DMA IP.
And the native HDMA registers are different from eDMA, so this patch
add support for HDMA NATIVE mode.
HDMA write and read channels operate independently to maximize
the performance of the HDMA read and write data transfer over
the link When you configure the HDMA with multiple read channels,
then it uses a round robin (RR) arbitration scheme to select
the next read channel to be serviced. The same applies when you
have multiple write channels.
The native HDMA driver also supports a maximum of 16 independent
channels (8 write + 8 read), which can run simultaneously.
Both SAR (Source Address Register) and DAR (Destination Address Register)
are aligned to byte.

The dw_edma_core_ops structure contains a set of the operations:
device IRQ numbers getter, CPU/PCI address translation. Based on the
functions semantics the structure name "dw_edma_plat_ops" looks more
descriptive since indeed the operations are platform-specific. The
"dw_edma_core_ops" name shall be used for a structure with the IP-core
specific set of callbacks in order to abstract out DW eDMA and DW HDMA
setups. Such structure will be added in one of the next commit in the
framework of the set of changes adding the DW HDMA device support.
Anyway the renaming was necessary to distinguish two types of
the implementation callbacks:
1. DW eDMA/hDMA IP-core specific operations: device-specific CSR
setups in one or another aspect of the DMA-engine initialization.
2. DW eDMA/hDMA platform specific operations: the DMA device
environment configs like IRQs, address translation, etc.

When CONFIG_DW_EDMA=m, dw_edma_probe() is built as a module. Previously
edma.h declared it as extern, but the implementation isn't available for
builtin callers. A subsequent commit will add calls from
dw_pcie_host_init() and dw_pcie_ep_init(), which can only be built-in.
Make it safe for such builtin callers to call dw_edma_probe() by using
IS_REACHABLE() to define a stub when CONFIG_DW_EDMA=m.
When CONFIG_DW_EDMA=m, these builtin callers will fail to detect and
register eDMA devices, so eDMA won't be usable even if the dw-edma module
is loaded.

Currently the DW eDMA driver only supports the linked lists memory
allocated locally with respect to the remote eDMA engine setup. It means
the linked lists will be accessible by the CPU via the MMIO space only. If
eDMA is embedded into the DW PCIe Root Ports or local Endpoints (which
support will be added in subsequent commits) the linked lists are supposed
to be allocated in the CPU memory. In that case the LL-entries can be
directly accessed, while the former case implies using the MMIO accessors
for that.
In order to have both cases supported by the driver, the dw_edma_region
descriptor should be fixed to contain the MMIO-backed and just memory-based
virtual addresses. The linked lists initialization procedure will use one
of them depending on the eDMA device nature. If the eDMA engine is embedded
into the local DW PCIe Root Port/Endpoint controllers, the list entries
will be directly accessed by referencing the corresponding structure
fields. Otherwise the MMIO accessors usage will be preserved.

Using an abstract number as the DW eDMA chip identifier isn't practical
because there can be more than one DW eDMA controller on the platform. Some
may be detected as the PCIe Endpoints, and others may be embedded in DW
PCIe Root Port/Endpoint controllers. An abstract number in, for instance,
the IRQ handlers list, doesn't give a notion regarding their reference to
the particular DMA controller.
To preserve the code simplicity and support multi-eDMA platforms, use the
parental device name to create the DW eDMA controller name.

Since 9575632052ba ("dmaengine: make slave address physical"), the source
and destination addresses of the DMA slave device have been converted to
physical addresses in the CPU address space. It's the DMA device driver's
responsibility to convert them to the DMA bus address space. In case of the
DW eDMA device, the source or destination peripheral (slave) devices reside
in PCI bus space. Thus we need to perform the PCI Host/Endpoint windows-
based (i.e. DT "ranges" property) address translation; otherwise the eDMA
transactions won't work as expected (or can be even harmful) if the CPU and
PCI address spaces don't match.
Note 1: Even though the DMA interleaved template has both source and
destination addresses declared as dma_addr_t, only the CPU memory range
should be mapped to be seen by the DMA device since it's a subject of the
DMA getting towards the system side. The device part must not be mapped
since the slave device resides in the PCI bus space, which isn't affected
by IOMMUs or iATU translations. DW PCIe eDMA generates corresponding
MWr/MRd TLPs on its own.
Note 2: This functionality is mainly required for the remote eDMA setup
since the CPU address must be manually translated into the PCI bus space
before being written to LLI.{SAR,DAR}. If eDMA is embedded in the locally
accessible DW PCIe Root Port/Endpoint, software-based translation isn't
required since hardware will translate it via the Outbound iATU as long as
the DMA_BYPASS flag is cleared. If DMA_BYPASS is set or there is no
Outbound iATU entry that contains the SAR or DAR (for Read and Write
channel respectively), there won't be any translation performed but DMA
will proceed with the corresponding source/destination address as-is.

The dw_edma_region.paddr field should be a memory base address visible by
the DW eDMA controller. If the DMA engine is embedded in the DW PCIe
Host/Endpoint controller, the address should belong to the Local CPU/
Application memory. If eDMA is remotely accessible across the PCI bus via
PCI memory IOs, the address should be part of the PCI bus memory space.
The latter case hasn't been well covered in the corresponding glue-driver.
Since pci_dev.resource[] contains resources defined in the CPU memory
space, they need to be converted to the PCI bus address space. Convert the
LL, DT and CSRs PCI memory ranges with pci_bus_address().
In addition, extend the dw_edma_region.paddr field size. The field normally
contains a memory range base address to be set in the DW eDMA Linked-List
pointer register or as a base address of the Linked-List data buffer. In
accordance with [1] the LL range is supposed to be created in the Local
CPU/Application memory, but depending on the DW eDMA utilization the memory
can be created as a part of the PCI bus address space (as in the case of
the DW PCIe Endpoint prototype kit).
In the former case dw_edma_region.paddr should be a dma_addr_t, while in
the latter one it should be a pci_bus_addr_t. Since the corresponding CSRs
are always 64 bits wide, convert dw_edma_region.paddr to be u64, and let
the client make sure it has a valid address visible by the DW eDMA
controller. For instance, the DW eDMA PCIe glue-driver initializes the
field with addresses from the PCI bus memory space.

The peripheral may have several FIFOs, but some case just select
some FIFOs from them for data transfer, which means FIFO0 and FIFO2
may be selected. So add FIFO address stride support, 0 means all FIFOs
are continuous, 1 means 1 word stride between FIFOs. All stride between
FIFOs should be same.
Another option words_per_fifo means how many audio channel data copied
to one FIFO one time, 1 means one channel per FIFO, 2 means 2 channels
per FIFO.
If 'n_fifos_src = 4' and 'words_per_fifo = 2', it means the first two
words(channels) fetch from FIFO0 and then jump to FIFO1 for next two words,
and so on after the last FIFO3 fetched, roll back to FIFO0.

The struct dw_edma contains wr(rd)_ch_cnt fields. The EDMA driver gets
write(read) channel number from register, then saves these into dw_edma.
The wr(rd)_ch_cnt in dw_edma_chip actually means how many link list memory
are available in ll_region_wr(rd)[EDMA_MAX_WR_CH]. Rename it to
ll_wr(rd)_cnt to indicate actual usage.

"struct dw_edma_chip" contains an internal structure "struct dw_edma" that
is used by the eDMA core internally and should not be touched by the eDMA
controller drivers themselves. But currently, the eDMA controller drivers
like "dw-edma-pci" allocate and populate this internal structure before
passing it on to the eDMA core. The eDMA core further populates the
structure and uses it. This is wrong!
Hence, move all the "struct dw_edma" specifics from controller drivers to
the eDMA core.

The i.MX SDMA engine can read from / write to multiple successive
hardware FIFO registers, referred to as "Multi FIFO support". This is
needed for the micfil driver and certain configurations of the SAI
driver. This patch adds support for this feature.
The number of FIFOs to read from / write to must be communicated from
the client driver to the SDMA engine. For this the struct
dma_slave_config::peripheral_config field is used.

The display driver wants to pass a custom flag to the DMA engine driver,
which it started doing by using the slave_id field that was traditionally
used for a different purpose.
As there is no longer a correct use for the slave_id field, it should
really be removed, and the remaining users changed over to something
different.
The new mechanism for passing nonstandard settings is using the
.peripheral_config field, so use that to pass a newly defined structure
here, making it clear that this will not work in portable drivers.

The slave_id was previously used to pick one DMA slave instead of another,
but this is now done through the DMA descriptors in device tree.
For the qcom_adm driver, the configuration is documented in the DT
binding to contain a tuple of device identifier and a "crci" field,
but the implementation ends up using only a single cell for identifying
the slave, with the crci getting passed in nonstandard properties of
the device, and passed through the dma driver using the old slave_id
field. Part of the problem apparently is that the nand driver ends up
using only a single DMA request ID, but requires distinct values for
"crci" depending on the type of transfer.
Change both the dmaengine driver and the two slave drivers to allow
the documented binding to work in addition to the ad-hoc passing
of crci values. In order to no longer abuse the slave_id field, pass
the data using the "peripheral_config" mechanism instead.

In k3 architecture a DMA channel (in TR momde) can be triggered by global
events, origination from different modules.
The events for triggers can be sent from any module which is connected to
PSI-L fabric, but the event number to be sent is DMA channel specific, it
is only known after the channel itself is requested.
The router operation needs to be split up:
- route_allocate: configure the dma_spec for the DMA and store the
configuration which is needed for the router's input
- set_event: callback used by the DMA driver to set the event number for
the channel and enable the routing

channels (channels are locked to handle specific threads) and flow ranges
for these mapped threads.
PKTDMA also introduces tflow for tx channels which can not be found in
