2008-07-28sparc, sparc64: use arch/sparc/includeSam Ravnborg1-8/+0
The majority of this patch was created by the following script: *** ASM=arch/sparc/include/asm mkdir -p $ASM git mv include/asm-sparc64/ftrace.h $ASM git rm include/asm-sparc64/* git mv include/asm-sparc/* $ASM sed -ie 's/asm-sparc64/asm/g' $ASM/* sed -ie 's/asm-sparc/asm/g' $ASM/* *** The rest was an update of the top-level Makefile to use sparc for header files when sparc64 is being build. And a small fixlet to pick up the correct unistd.h from sparc64 code. Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org>
2008-07-18sparc: join the remaining header filesSam Ravnborg1-171/+6
With this commit all sparc64 header files are moved to asm-sparc. The remaining files (71 files) were too different to be trivially merged so divide them up in a _32.h and a _64.h file which are both included from the file with no bit size. The following script were used: cd include FILES=`wc -l asm-sparc64/*h | grep -v '^ 1' | cut -b 20-` for FILE in ${FILES}; do echo $FILE: BASE=`echo $FILE | cut -d '.' -f 1` FN32=${BASE}_32.h FN64=${BASE}_64.h GUARD=___ASM_SPARC_`echo $BASE | tr '-' '_' | tr [:lower:] [:upper:]`_H git mv asm-sparc/$FILE asm-sparc/$FN32 git mv asm-sparc64/$FILE asm-sparc/$FN64 echo git mv done printf "#ifndef %s\n" $GUARD > asm-sparc/$FILE printf "#define %s\n" $GUARD >> asm-sparc/$FILE printf "#if defined(__sparc__) && defined(__arch64__)\n" >> asm-sparc/$FILE printf "#include <asm-sparc/%s>\n" $FN64 >> asm-sparc/$FILE printf "#else\n" >> asm-sparc/$FILE printf "#include <asm-sparc/%s>\n" $FN32 >> asm-sparc/$FILE printf "#endif\n" >> asm-sparc/$FILE printf "#endif\n" >> asm-sparc/$FILE git add asm-sparc/$FILE echo new file done printf "#include <asm-sparc/%s>\n" $FILE > asm-sparc64/$FILE git add asm-sparc64/$FILE echo sparc64 file done done The guard contains three '_' to avoid conflict with existing guards. In additing the two Kbuild files are emptied to avoid breaking headers_* targets. We will reintroduce the exported header files when the necessary kbuild changes are merged. 2008-06-26smp_call_function: get rid of the unused nonatomic/retry argumentJens Axboe1-1/+1
It's never used and the comments refer to nonatomic and retry interchangably. So get rid of it. Acked-by: Jeremy Fitzhardinge <jeremy.fitzhardinge@citrix.com> Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <jens.axboe@oracle.com>
2008-04-29sparc32: Kill smp_message_pass() and related code.David S. Miller1-2/+0
Completely unused, and it just makes the SMP message passing code on 32-bit sparc look more complex than it is. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2007-05-09Remove hardcoding of hard_smp_processor_id on UP systemsFernando Luis Vazquez Cao1-0/+1
With the advent of kdump, the assumption that the boot CPU when booting an UP kernel is always the CPU with a particular hardware ID (often 0) (usually referred to as BSP on some architectures) is not valid anymore. The reason being that the dump capture kernel boots on the crashed CPU (the CPU that invoked crash_kexec), which may be or may not be that particular CPU. Move definition of hard_smp_processor_id for the UP case to architecture-specific code ("asm/smp.h") where it belongs, so that each architecture can provide its own implementation. 2006-03-24[SPARC]: Try to start getting SMP back into shape.Bob Breuer1-8/+1
Todo items: - IRQ_INPROGRESS flag - use sparc64 irq buckets, or generic irq_desc? - sun4d - re-indent large chunks of sun4m_smp.c - some places assume sequential cpu numbering (i.e. 0,1 instead of 0,2) Last I checked (with 2.6.14), random programs segfault with dual HyperSPARC. And with SuperSPARC II's, it seems stable but will eventually die from a write lock error (wrong lock owner or something). I haven't tried the HyperSPARC + highmem combination recently, so that may still be a problem. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2005-06-22[PATCH] smp_processor_id() cleanupIngo Molnar1-1/+1
This patch implements a number of smp_processor_id() cleanup ideas that Arjan van de Ven and I came up with. The previous __smp_processor_id/_smp_processor_id/smp_processor_id API spaghetti was hard to follow both on the implementational and on the usage side. Some of the complexity arose from picking wrong names, some of the complexity comes from the fact that not all architectures defined __smp_processor_id. In the new code, there are two externally visible symbols: - smp_processor_id(): debug variant. - raw_smp_processor_id(): nondebug variant. Replaces all existing uses of _smp_processor_id() and __smp_processor_id(). Defined by every SMP architecture in include/asm-*/smp.h. There is one new internal symbol, dependent on DEBUG_PREEMPT: - debug_smp_processor_id(): internal debug variant, mapped to smp_processor_id(). Also, i moved debug_smp_processor_id() from lib/kernel_lock.c into a new lib/smp_processor_id.c file. All related comments got updated and/or clarified. I have build/boot tested the following 8 .config combinations on x86: {SMP,UP} x {PREEMPT,!PREEMPT} x {DEBUG_PREEMPT,!DEBUG_PREEMPT} I have also build/boot tested x64 on UP/PREEMPT/DEBUG_PREEMPT. (Other architectures are untested, but should work just fine.) Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
