2008-08-04powerpc: Move include files to arch/powerpc/include/asmStephen Rothwell1-38/+0
from include/asm-powerpc. This is the result of a mkdir arch/powerpc/include/asm git mv include/asm-powerpc/* arch/powerpc/include/asm Followed by a few documentation/comment fixups and a couple of places where <asm-powepc/...> was being used explicitly. Of the latter only one was outside the arch code and it is a driver only built for powerpc. Signed-off-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2008-04-24[POWERPC] 85xx: Add support for relocatable kernel (and booting at non-zero)Kumar Gala1-0/+6
Added support to allow an 85xx kernel to be run from a non-zero physical address (useful for cooperative asymmetric multiprocessing situations and kdump). The support can be configured at compile time by setting CONFIG_PAGE_OFFSET, CONFIG_KERNEL_START, and CONFIG_PHYSICAL_START as desired. Alternatively, the kernel build can set CONFIG_RELOCATABLE. Setting this config option causes the kernel to determine at runtime the physical addresses of CONFIG_PAGE_OFFSET and CONFIG_KERNEL_START. If CONFIG_RELOCATABLE is set, then CONFIG_PHYSICAL_START has no meaning. However, CONFIG_PHYSICAL_START will always be used to set the LOAD program header physical address field in the resulting ELF image. Currently we are limited to running at a physical address that is a multiple of 256M. This is due to how we map TLBs to cover lowmem. This should be fixed to allow 64M or maybe even 16M alignment in the future. It is considered an error to try and run a kernel at a non-aligned physical address. All the magic for this support is accomplished by proper initialization of the kernel memory subsystem and use of ARCH_PFN_OFFSET. The use of ARCH_PFN_OFFSET only affects normal memory and not IO mappings. ioremap uses map_page and isn't affected by ARCH_PFN_OFFSET. /dev/mem continues to allow access to any physical address in the system regardless of how CONFIG_PHYSICAL_START is set. 2008-04-17[POWERPC] Remove and replace uses of PPC_MEMSTART with memstart_addrKumar Gala1-2/+0
A number of users of PPC_MEMSTART (40x, ppc_mmu_32) can just always use 0 as we don't support booting these kernels at non-zero physical addresses since their exception vectors must be at 0 (or 0xfffx_xxxx). For the sub-arches that support relocatable interrupt vectors (book-e), it's reasonable to have memory start at a non-zero physical address. For those cases use the variable memstart_addr instead of the #define PPC_MEMSTART since the only uses of PPC_MEMSTART are for initialization and in the future we can set memstart_addr at runtime to have a relocatable kernel. 2008-02-07Cleanup asm/{elf,page,user}.h: #ifdef __KERNEL__ is no longer neededKirill A. Shutemov1-2/+0
asm/elf.h, asm/page.h and asm/user.h don't export to userspace now, so we can drop #ifdef __KERNEL__ for them. [k.shutemov@gmail.com: remove #ifdef __KERNEL_] Signed-off-by: Kirill A. 2007-11-20[POWERPC] Fix kmalloc alignment on non-coherent DMA platformsBenjamin Herrenschmidt1-0/+4
On platforms doing non-coherent DMA (4xx, 8xx, ...), it's important that the kmalloc minimum alignment is set to the cache line size, to avoid sharing cache lines between different objects, so that DMA to one of the objects doesn't corrupt the other. 2007-05-07[POWERPC] Kill off the PTE_FMT macroDavid Gibson1-2/+0
32-bit powerpc uses a PTE_FMT macro to handle printk() formatting of PTE entries (which can vary in type and size). Apparently there was a good reason for it once, but with current compilers it's simpler just to workaround the variation with a cast in the printk() itself (there's only one use). 2006-12-08[PATCH] LOG2: Provide ilog2() fallbacks for powerpcDavid Howells1-9/+1

2006-01-09[PATCH] powerpc: sanitize header files for user space includesArnd Bergmann1-0/+2
include/asm-ppc/ had #ifdef __KERNEL__ in all header files that are not meant for use by user space, include/asm-powerpc does not have this yet. This patch gets us a lot closer there. There are a few cases where I was not sure, so I left them out. I have verified that no CONFIG_* symbols are used outside of __KERNEL__ any more and that there are no obvious compile errors when including any of the headers in user space libraries. 2005-11-14powerpc: Fix 32-bit compile: PPC_MEMSTART was undeclaredPaul Mackerras1-0/+2
This defines PPC_MEMSTART as 0 because it is still used in a couple of places in the 32-bit code. Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2005-11-14[PATCH] powerpc: Merge page.hMichael Ellerman1-0/+38
Merge asm-ppc/page.h and asm-ppc64/page.h into asm-powerpc/page.h, asm-powerpc/page_32.h and asm-powerpc/page_64.h Built for PPC (common_defconfig), with ARCH=powerpc, mostly built with ARCH=ppc (other things break the build). Built and booted on P5 LPAR for PPC64 with ARCH=ppc/powerpc (pseries_defconfig). Mostly built for iSeries powerpc.
