2016-01-23wrappers for ->i_mutex accessAl Viro1-3/+3
parallel to mutex_{lock,unlock,trylock,is_locked,lock_nested}, inode_foo(inode) being mutex_foo(&inode->i_mutex). Please, use those for access to ->i_mutex; over the coming cycle ->i_mutex will become rwsem, with ->lookup() done with it held only shared. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2015-07-09ioctl_compat: handle FITRIMMikulas Patocka1-3/+0
The FITRIM ioctl has the same arguments on 32-bit and 64-bit architectures, so we can add it to the list of compatible ioctls and drop it from compat_ioctl method of various filesystems. 2012-09-17fs/jfs: TRIM support for JFS FilesystemTino Reichardt1-1/+42
This patch adds support for the two linux interfaces of the discard/TRIM command for SSD devices and sparse/thinly-provisioned LUNs. JFS will support batched discard via FITRIM ioctl and online discard with the discard mount option. 2012-01-04vfs: mnt_drop_write_file()Al Viro1-1/+1
new helper (wrapper around mnt_drop_write()) to be used in pair with mnt_want_write_file(). Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-01-04switch a bunch of places to mnt_want_write_file()Al Viro1-1/+1
it's both faster (in case when file has been opened for write) and cleaner. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2011-03-24userns: rename is_owner_or_cap to inode_owner_or_capableSerge E. Hallyn1-1/+1

2008-04-19[PATCH] r/o bind mounts: elevate write count for ioctls()Dave Hansen1-11/+22
Some ioctl()s can cause writes to the filesystem. Take these, and make them use mnt_want/drop_write() instead. 2008-02-07BKL-removal: Implement a compat_ioctl handler for JFSAndi Kleen1-0/+18
The ioctls were already compatible except for the actual values so this was fairly easy to do. Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Dave Kleikamp <shaggy@linux.vnet.ibm.com>
2008-02-07BKL-removal: Use unlocked_ioctl for jfsAndi Kleen1-3/+10
Convert jfs_ioctl over to not use the BKL. The only potential race I could see was with two ioctls in parallel changing the flags and losing the updates. Use the i_mutex to protect against this. Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Dave Kleikamp <shaggy@linux.vnet.ibm.com>
2007-11-15Forbid user to change file flags on quota filesJan Kara1-0/+3
Forbid user from changing file flags on quota files. User has no bussiness in playing with these flags when quota is on. Furthermore there is a remote possibility of deadlock due to a lock inversion between quota file's i_mutex and transaction's start (i_mutex for quota file is locked only when trasaction is started in quota operations) in ext3 and ext4. 2007-07-17Introduce is_owner_or_cap() to wrap CAP_FOWNER use with fsuid checkSatyam Sharma1-1/+1
Introduce is_owner_or_cap() macro in fs.h, and convert over relevant users to it. This is done because we want to avoid bugs in the future where we check for only effective fsuid of the current task against a file's owning uid, without simultaneously checking for CAP_FOWNER as well, thus violating its semantics. [ XFS uses special macros and structures, and in general looked ... untouchable, so we leave it alone -- but it has been looked over. ] The (current->fsuid != inode->i_uid) check in generic_permission() and exec_permission_lite() is left alone, because those operations are covered by CAP_DAC_OVERRIDE and CAP_DAC_READ_SEARCH. Similarly operations falling under the purview of CAP_CHOWN and CAP_LEASE are also left alone. 2007-04-25Copy i_flags to jfs inode flags on writeDave Kleikamp1-0/+2
This mirrors Jan Kara's patches for ext3. This patch makes sure that changes made to inode->i_flags are reflected on disk for jfs. It also moves a call of jfs_set_inode_flags() to be more consistent with where jfs_get_inode_flags() is called. Signed-off-by: Dave Kleikamp <shaggy@linux.vnet.ibm.com>

2006-09-30[PATCH] BLOCK: Move common FS-specific ioctls to linux/fs.h [try #6]David Howells1-8/+7
Move common FS-specific ioctls from linux/ext2_fs.h to linux/fs.h as FS_IOC_* and FS_IOC32_* and have the users of them use those as a base. Also move the GETFLAGS/SETFLAGS flags to linux/fs.h as FS_*_FL macros, and then have the other users use them as a base.
